Alien Petroglyphic

Someone thought it would be funny if they carved an alien i nto an indian petroglyphic site. It was actually pretty funny to see this obscure carving. It made me laugh at the least. The place was very beautiful with large boulders overlooking the desert. US-50 is a beautiful and desolate drive.

OOOOO-UUUU

UofM vs Oakland Univ basketball game. One of my friends is on the OU team. These games are always tough for me because ive been to both schools. Who should I chear for? I dont know. I actually bought these tickets from a bumb trying to scalp them on the way in. This happened after the bombings, so I had to sneek my camera in under my shirt. I looked pregnant.

Embers

Me, Cory, Dave and Ryan pulled this tree out of a sand dune at lake michigan and hauled it back to our campsite. We broke up the tree by smashing it against other trees, the ground and each other. Eventually, exhausted we set the remnents of the day to blaze in our campsite fire pit. We stayed up til 4am just quietly enjoying the quiet ambient sounds of the crackling fire and the cool breeze from the lake.

Restoration

I was walking along the beach or Lake Huron during the annual ivcf summer retreat. It was a little rainy and I took a break in the sandy cove and sat in this chair and relaxed. It was so serene and tranquel. I tried to capture the feeling of relaxation and restoration for you to lament to.

Sun Bathing

This is the same chair. I really liked the texture of the wood. I even had brief thought of taking the chair home with me. I tried to capture the infinite bounds of the unending watery horizon. It was breath taking. I sat in this chair for a few minutes and some people from Western Univ thought I was a lifeguard.

Down with the DCTalk

DC Talk, an awesome christian band, came to Hill Auditorium on UofM's campus. My seats were way up in the balcony, so I snuck down and got some close, in-your-face shots of the trio in action. The light was low, so I had to be creative, but it came out good.

Lovers Lookout

I was driving back to denver from boulder after visiting Univ of Colorado and I pulled over because the lights of the city were so bright. It was just like the cliched 'lovers lane' in many 1950's movies. A few cars drove by which lit up the road during my long exposure. It was very beautiful, and worth risking my neck along side of this busy road. BTW, the constellation orion is fake.

Feet on Beach

This photo is a momento of my first visit to the pacific ocean. This was taking just outside of Muir Redwood Forest near San Francisco. I took my shoes off and shot the impressions left by my first steps. The Pacific ocean is beautiful and very cold. Especially in January.

Bay Fireworks

During my camping trip we took a brief hiatus to watch the muskegon independance day show. We sat on a cliff on the otherside of the bay and just watched these tremendous bombs just burst in the air over and over. Tons of people around us. It was great.

Fish Frenzy

My mom and I visited the omaha zoo on my trip back from California and these fish were congregating under a bridge. There was a countless number of them. They were pilled so thick, that some of them were flopping around on teh backs of other fish as if they were on the ground.

Golden Gate

Does this look familiar? It should. Ive seen this view in a half-dozen movies. The view is pretty awesome, and knowing that many famous people had been in this very same location. This is the Golden Gate Bridge over looking San Francisco. On my way out the fog rolled in and it looked just like gotham city in batman.

No Masters for You

I took this at the Bowling green vs UofM hockey game in Yost Arena at UofM. The goalie collided with a UofM hockey player and was injured. UofM scored on the play. The fans behind me were chearing.. "Youre not a masters your a bachelor. No, youre not an bachelor, your an associates..." all the way to GED.

The Drill

The fire department set ablaze this condemned building along the side of the road in the U.P. to test the new firemen. The whole town was sitting along the side of the road watching the firemen in action. The flames of the fire were very beautiful as they varied from oranges to bright blues. The heat was very intense too, even from the other side of the road.

Sunrise at the Point

I actually could have stayed in bed and watched the sun come up, but I hadnt been up that early to know about it. All the years that I had been up to this spot, I had never gotten up to see it come up. It was very beautiful, and very slow. I didnt have a good view of the horizon because of the pines, but it was still quite a site. It was very cold outside too.

Lake Huron

Not that this photo is very special, it just gives a realistic view of this great lake. Huron is very beautiful and very rocky along the north shore. I missed my opportunity to photo the large waves during the storm the day before, but this is still beautiful.

Path of Peace

Lake michigan is very beautiful too. Something about looking over the horizon and only seeing water, or maybe the large endless beaches amaze me. But just the simple divide between water and land is amazing enough. The wind started blowing and the sand "sandblasted" my legs. It hurt so bad. The sand was already burning hot. Everytime the wind blew, everyone screamed in pain.

Fallen Leaves

Fall happens in one or two weeks some years in Michigan. It was a rainy fall day when these leaves fell. I was walking to work and everywhere was orange, green, red and yellow. It takes 10minutes to walk to work from my car, but this day, I turned around half way and took some great shots.

Fallen Leaves B/W

These leaves are from the same set as "Fallen Leaves", but I took the color out of them. Even without the symbolic colors they are still very beautiful. The rain just gives them more texture.

Leaves Perspective

This is another one from the leaves set. I added depth to this photo by bluring the distant leaves and increasing the amount of colors. I shifted teh colors more towards the green and orange spectrum too. These photos were used during a presentation at Westwinds Comm. Church.

Meta

My friends decided to build a rock bridge to the forsaken boulder near gnome rock. The bridge was named "meta" to symbolize the path to the rock that was unreachable before. Also, my friend Alex was offended when the prefix was used out of context.

Muir Beach

This was the first times I saw the pacific ocean. We pulled over and walked down the sides of these huge cliffs and just gazed over the vast body of water. While I was Climbing down the cliff I started to slide, and I honestly almost plummeted to my death. Scary stuff.

Almost-Grand Canyon

We pulled over at a scenic turnout, wondering why it was scenic. It was the middle of the desert. And to our amazement was this huge canyon! It was about 1/3 mile down to the bottom. I was amazed. I was a little scared to go near the edge. You could see a small cloud from a fire in the distance.

Go here! This place is breath taking. You can see forever. This giant rock clifts go straight down and you can drive right up to the very edge. Very scary and very cool. Colorado is probably the most beautiful state.

Parots

Looking down from the top of a bridge, the parot's bright colors were an amazing contrast against the dark water. It was amazing to see birds that bright and color full. This was actually indoors in the largest tropical zoo in the us (so they say).

Stormy Sunset

I forgot that Jessie "The Body" Ventura was the governer of montana (not missouri... er... Minnesota). I took this photo from my plane as it tried to land during an ice storm. The plane turned around and started flying back west and I got scared for a moment before they anounced we high in the landing order. I got my hopes up, but no terrorists today.

Taq Falls

Tahquamenon Falls are actually kind of ugly. There is a lot of copper in the water and it turns the water a really ugly brown. Plus some chemicals are in the water that makes it foam when it crashes down at its base. It was still very cool, dont get me wrong, but not compared to some waterfalls.

Mts of Bush

These mountains were much more breathtaking in real life. The colors were so brilliant. The white puffy clouds contrasted strongly against the rich blue skies. You'd have to be there to get the full effect.

Painted Sunset

This was incredible! Driving south through the desert after leaving Salt Lake City, this amazing sunset fell on us. The mountains turned purple and other unnatural colors. Then a large thunderstorm came over the horizon of these mountains and lightning bolts rained down over the cliffs and the sun set.

Jump Jive and Vail

I spranged my ankle on the first run at vail. Right after ponying up $67 for a lift ticket. I was so mad. Its not like you can go to Vail everyday. So I made the most of it, and took this photo from a bridge in Vail Village.
