1:1 The [4413] former [3056] treatise have I [4160] made, O [2321] Theophilus, of [3956] all that [2424] Jesus [0756] began [5037] both to [4160] do and [1321] teach,
1:2 [0891] Until the [2250] day in [3739] which he was [0353] taken up, after that he [1223] through the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost had given [1781] commandments unto the [0652] apostles [3739] whom he had [1586] chosen:
1:3 To [3739] whom [2532] also he [3936] shewed [1438] himself [2198] alive [3326] after his [3958] passion by [4183] many infallible [5039] proofs, being [3700] seen of them [5062] forty [2250] days, and [3004] speaking of the things [4012] pertaining to the [0932] kingdom of [2316] God:
1:4 And, being [4871] assembled [4871] together with them, [3853] commanded them that they should not [5563] depart from [2414] Jerusalem, but [4037] wait for the [1860] promise of the [3962] Father, [3739] which, saith he, ye have [0191] heard of me.
1:5 For [2491] John [3303] truly [0907] baptized with [5204] water; but ye shall be [0907] baptized with the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost not [4183] many [2250] days [5025] hence.
1:6 When they [3767] therefore were [4905] come [4905] together, they [1905] asked of him, [3004] saying, [2962] Lord, wilt thou [1722] at [5129] this [5550] time [0600] restore [0600] again the [0932] kingdom to [2474] Israel?
1:7 And he [2036] said unto them, It is not for you to [1097] know the [5550] times [2228] or the [2540] seasons, [3739] which the [3962] Father hath [5087] put in his [2398] own [1849] power.
1:8 But ye shall [2983] receive [1411] power, after that the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost is [1904] come upon you: and ye shall be [3144] witnesses unto me [5037] both in [2419] Jerusalem, and in [3956] all [2449] Judaea, and in [4540] Samaria, and unto the [2078] uttermost part of the [1093] earth.
1:9 And when he had [2036] spoken [5023] these things, while they [0991] beheld, he was [1869] taken up; and a [3507] cloud [5274] received him out of their [3788] sight.
1:10 And [5613] while they [0816] looked [0816] stedfastly [1519] toward [3772] heaven as he [4198] went up, [2400] behold, [1417] two [0435] men [3936] stood by them in [3022] white [2066] apparel;
1:11 [3739] Which [2532] also [2036] said, Ye [0435] men of [1056] Galilee, [5101] why [2476] stand ye [1689] gazing up [1519] into [3772] heaven? [3778] this [3778] same [2424] Jesus, [3588] which is [0353] taken up from you [1519] into [3772] heaven, shall [3779] so [2064] come in [3779] like [5158] manner as ye have [2300] seen him [4198] go [1519] into [3772] heaven.
1:12 [5119] Then [5290] returned they unto [2419] Jerusalem from the [3735] mount [2564] called [1638] Olivet, [3739] which is from [2419] Jerusalem a [4521] sabbath day's [3598] journey.
1:13 And [3753] when they were [1525] come in, they [0305] went up [1519] into an [5253] upper [5253] room, [3757] where [2650] abode [5037] both [4074] Peter, and [2385] James, and [2491] John, and [0406] Andrew, [5376] Philip, and [2381] Thomas, [0918] Bartholomew, and [3156] Matthew, [2385] James the son of [0256] Alphaeus, and [4613] Simon [2208] Zelotes, and [2455] Judas the brother of [2385] James.
1:14 [3778] These [3956] all [4342] continued with [3661] one [3661] accord in [4335] prayer and [1162] supplication, with the [1135] women, and [3137] Mary the [3384] mother of [2424] Jesus, and with his [0080] brethren.
1:15 And in [5026] those [2250] days [4074] Peter [0450] stood up in the [3319] midst of the [3101] disciples, and [2036] said, (the [3793] number of [3686] names [0846] together were [5613] about an [1540] hundred and [1501] twenty,)
1:16 [0435] Men and [0080] brethren, [5026] this [1124] scripture [1163] must needs have been [4137] fulfilled, [3739] which the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost by the [4750] mouth of [1138] David [4277] spake [4277] before [4012] concerning [2455] Judas, [3588] which was [3595] guide to them that [4815] took [2424] Jesus.
1:17 For he was [2674] numbered with us, and had [2975] obtained [2819] part of [5026] this [1248] ministry.
1:18 [3767] Now [3778] this man [2932] purchased a [5564] field with the [3408] reward of [0093] iniquity; and [1096] falling [4248] headlong, he [2997] burst [2997] asunder in the [3319] midst, and [3956] all his [4698] bowels [1632] gushed out.
1:19 And it was [1110] known unto [3956] all the [2730] dwellers at [2419] Jerusalem; [5620] insomuch as that [5564] field is [2564] called in their [2398] proper [1258] tongue, [0184] Aceldama, that is to say, The [5564] field of [0129] blood.
1:20 For it is [1125] written in the [0976] book of [5568] Psalms, Let his [1886] habitation be [2048] desolate, and let [3361] no man [2730] dwell [0846] therein: and his [1984] bishoprick let [2087] another [2983] take.
1:21 [3767] Wherefore of [5130] these men which have [4905] companied with us [3956] all the [5550] time that the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [1831] went in and out [1909] among us,
1:22 [0756] Beginning from the [0908] baptism of [2491] John, unto that same [2250] day that he was [0353] taken up from us, [1163] must [1520] one be [1096] ordained to be a [3144] witness with us of his [0386] resurrection.
1:23 And they [2476] appointed [1417] two, [2501] Joseph [2564] called [0923] Barsabas, [3739] who was [1941] surnamed [2459] Justus, and [3159] Matthias.
1:24 And they [4336] prayed, and [2036] said, Thou, [2962] Lord, which [2589] knowest the [2589] hearts of [3956] all men, [0322] shew [1520] whether of [5130] these [1417] two thou hast [1586] chosen,
1:25 That he may [2983] take [2819] part of [5026] this [1248] ministry and [0651] apostleship, from [3739] which [2455] Judas by [3845] transgression fell, that he might [4198] go to his [2398] own [5117] place.
1:26 And they [1325] gave forth their [2819] lots; and the [2819] lot [4098] fell upon [3159] Matthias; and he was [4785] numbered with the [1733] eleven [0652] apostles.
2:1 And [3588] when the [2250] day of [4005] Pentecost was [4845] fully [4845] come, they were [0537] all with [3661] one [3661] accord in [0848] one place.
2:2 And [0869] suddenly there [1096] came a [2279] sound from [3772] heaven as of a [5342] rushing [0972] mighty [4157] wind, and it [4137] filled [3650] all the [3624] house [3757] where they were [2521] sitting.
2:3 And there [3700] appeared unto them [1266] cloven [1100] tongues [5616] like as of [4442] fire, and it [2523] sat upon [1538] each of them.
2:4 And they were [0537] all [4130] filled with the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, and [0756] began to [2980] speak with [2087] other [1100] tongues, as the [4151] Spirit [1325] gave them [0669] utterance.
2:5 And there were [2730] dwelling [1722] at [2419] Jerusalem [2453] Jews, [2126] devout [0435] men, out of [3956] every [1484] nation [5259] under [3772] heaven.
2:6 [1161] Now when [5026] this was [5456] noised [5456] abroad, the [4128] multitude [4905] came [4905] together, and were [4797] confounded, [3754] because that [1538] every [1520] man [0191] heard them [2980] speak in his [2398] own [1258] language.
2:7 And they were [3956] all [1839] amazed and [2296] marvelled, [3004] saying [0240] one to [0240] another, [2400] Behold, are not [3956] all [3778] these [3588] which [2980] speak [1057] Galilaeans?
2:8 And [4459] how [0191] hear we [1538] every [1520] man in our [2398] own [1258] tongue, [3757] wherein we were [1080] born?
2:9 [3934] Parthians, and [3370] Medes, and [1639] Elamites, and the [2730] dwellers in [3318] Mesopotamia, and in [2449] Judaea, and [2587] Cappadocia, in [4195] Pontus, and [0773] Asia,
2:10 [5435] Phrygia, and [3828] Pamphylia, in [0125] Egypt, and in the [3313] parts of [3033] Libya [2596] about [2957] Cyrene, and [1927] strangers of [4516] Rome, [2453] Jews and [4339] proselytes,
2:11 [2912] Cretes and [0690] Arabians, we do [0191] hear them [2980] speak in our [1100] tongues the [3167] wonderful works of [2316] God.
2:12 And they were [3956] all [1839] amazed, and were in [1280] doubt, [3004] saying [0243] one to [0243] another, [5101] What [1511] meaneth [5124] this?
2:13 [2087] Others [5512] mocking [3004] said, These men are [3325] full of [1098] new [1098] wine.
2:14 But [4074] Peter, [2476] standing up with the [1733] eleven, [1869] lifted up his [5456] voice, and [0669] said unto them, Ye [0435] men of [2453] Judaea, and [0537] all ye that [2730] dwell at [2419] Jerusalem, be [5124] this [1110] known unto you, and [1801] hearken to my [4487] words:
2:15 For [3778] these are not [3184] drunken, as ye [5274] suppose, [1063] seeing it is but the [5154] third [5610] hour of the [2250] day.
2:16 But [5124] this is that which was [2046] spoken by the [4396] prophet [2493] Joel;
2:17 And it shall [1511] come to pass in the [2078] last [2250] days, [3004] saith [2316] God, I will [1632] pour out of my [4151] Spirit upon [3956] all [4561] flesh: and [5216] your [5207] sons and [5216] your [2364] daughters shall [4395] prophesy, and [5216] your [3495] young [3495] men shall [3700] see [3706] visions, and [5216] your [4245] old men shall [1798] dream [1797] dreams:
2:18 And [1909] on my [1401] servants and [1909] on my [1399] handmaidens I will [1632] pour out in [1565] those [2250] days of my [4151] Spirit; and they shall [4395] prophesy:
2:19 And I will [1325] shew [5059] wonders in [3772] heaven [0507] above, and [4592] signs in the [1093] earth [2736] beneath; [0129] blood, and [4442] fire, and [0822] vapour of [2586] smoke:
2:20 The [2246] sun shall be [4762] turned [1519] into [3344] darkness, and the [4582] moon [1519] into [0129] blood, [2228] before the [3173] great and [2016] notable [2250] day of the [2962] Lord [2064] come:
2:21 And it shall [1511] come to pass, that [3739] whosoever shall [1941] call [1941] on the [3686] name of the [2962] Lord shall be [4982] saved.
2:22 Ye [0435] men of [2475] Israel, [0191] hear [5128] these [3056] words; [2424] Jesus of [3478] Nazareth, a [0435] man [0584] approved of [2316] God [1519] among you by [1411] miracles and [5059] wonders and [4592] signs, [3739] which [2316] God [4160] did by him in the [3319] midst of you, as ye [0846] yourselves [2532] also [1492] know:
2:23 Him, being [1560] delivered by the [3724] determinate [1012] counsel and [4268] foreknowledge of [2316] God, ye have [2983] taken, and by [0459] wicked [5495] hands have [4362] crucified and [0337] slain:
2:24 [3739] Whom [2316] God hath [0450] raised up, having [3089] loosed the [5604] pains of [2288] death: [2530] because it was not [1415] possible that he should be [2902] holden of it.
2:25 For [1138] David [3004] speaketh [1519] concerning him, I [4308] foresaw the [2962] Lord [3956] always [1799] before my [1799] face, for he is [1537] on my [1188] right hand, that I should not be [4531] moved:
2:26 [5124] Therefore did my [2588] heart [2165] rejoice, and my [1100] tongue was [0021] glad; [2089] moreover [2532] also my [4561] flesh shall [2681] rest in [1680] hope:
2:27 [3754] Because thou wilt not [1459] leave my [5590] soul in [0086] hell, [3761] neither wilt thou [1325] suffer [4675] thine [3741] Holy One to [1492] see [1312] corruption.
2:28 Thou hast [1107] made [1107] known to me the [3598] ways of [2222] life; thou shalt [4137] make me [4137] full of [2167] joy with thy [4383] countenance.
2:29 [0435] Men and [0080] brethren, [1832] let me [3954] freely [2036] speak unto you of the [3966] patriarch [1138] David, that he is [2532] both [5053] dead and [2290] buried, and his [3418] sepulchre is with us unto [5026] this [2250] day.
2:30 [3767] Therefore [5225] being a [4396] prophet, and [1492] knowing that [2316] God had [3660] sworn with an [3727] oath to him, that of the [2590] fruit of his [3751] loins, [2596] according to the [4561] flesh, he would [0450] raise up [5547] Christ to [2523] sit [1909] on his [2362] throne;
2:31 He [4275] seeing this [4275] before [2980] spake of the [0386] resurrection of [5547] Christ, that his [5590] soul was not [2641] left in [0086] hell, [3761] neither his [4561] flesh did [1492] see [1312] corruption.
2:32 [5126] This [2424] Jesus hath [2316] God [0450] raised up, [3739] whereof we [3956] all are [3144] witnesses.
2:33 [3767] Therefore being by the [1188] right hand of [2316] God [5312] exalted, and having [2983] received of the [3962] Father the [1860] promise of the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, he hath [1632] shed [1632] forth [5124] this, [3739] which ye [3568] now [0991] see and [0191] hear.
2:34 For [1138] David is not [0305] ascended [1519] into the [3772] heavens: but he [3004] saith [0846] himself, The [2962] Lord [2036] said unto my [2962] Lord, [2521] Sit thou [1537] on my [1188] right hand,
2:35 [2193] Until I [5087] make thy [2190] foes thy [5286] footstool.
2:36 [3767] Therefore let [3956] all the [3624] house of [2474] Israel [1097] know [0806] assuredly, that [2316] God hath [4160] made the [5126] same [2424] Jesus, [3739] whom ye have [4717] crucified, [2532] both [2962] Lord and [5547] Christ.
2:37 [1161] Now when they [0191] heard this, they were [2660] pricked in their [2588] heart, and [2036] said unto [4074] Peter and to the [3062] rest of the [0652] apostles, [0435] Men and [0080] brethren, [5101] what shall we [4160] do?
2:38 [1161] Then [4074] Peter [5346] said unto them, [3340] Repent, and be [0907] baptized [1538] every one of you in the [3686] name of [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ for the [0859] remission of [0266] sins, and ye shall [2983] receive the [1431] gift of the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost.
2:39 For the [1860] promise is unto you, and to [5216] your [5043] children, and to [3956] all that are [3112] afar off, even as [3745] many as the [2962] Lord our [2316] God shall [4341] call.
2:40 And with [4119] many [2087] other [3056] words did he [1263] testify and [3870] exhort, [3004] saying, [4982] Save yourselves from [5026] this [4646] untoward [1074] generation.
2:41 [3767] Then they that [0780] gladly [0588] received his [3056] word were [0907] baptized: and the [1565] same [2250] day there were [4369] added unto them [5616] about [5153] three [5153] thousand [5590] souls.
2:42 And they [4342] continued [4342] stedfastly in the [0652] apostles' [1322] doctrine and [2842] fellowship, and in [2800] breaking of [0740] bread, and in [4335] prayers.
2:43 And [5401] fear [1096] came upon [3956] every [5590] soul: and [4183] many [5059] wonders and [4592] signs were [1096] done by the [0652] apostles.
2:44 And [3956] all that [4100] believed were [0846] together, and [2192] had [0537] all things [2839] common;
2:45 And [4097] sold their [2933] possessions and [5223] goods, and [1266] parted them to [3956] all men, as [5100] every man [2192] had [5532] need.
2:46 And they, [4342] continuing [2250] daily with [3661] one [3661] accord in the [2411] temple, and [2806] breaking [0740] bread from [3624] house to [3624] house, did [3335] eat their [5160] meat with [0020] gladness and [0858] singleness of [2588] heart,
2:47 [0134] Praising [2316] God, and [2192] having [5485] favour with [3650] all the [2992] people. And the [2962] Lord [4369] added to the [1577] church [2250] daily such as should be [4982] saved.
3:1 [1161] Now [4074] Peter and [2491] John [0305] went up [0846] together [1519] into the [2411] temple [1909] at the [5610] hour of [4335] prayer, being the [1766] ninth hour.
3:2 And a [5100] certain [0435] man [5560] lame from his [3384] mother's [2836] womb was [0941] carried, [3739] whom they [5087] laid [2250] daily [4314] at the [2374] gate of the [2411] temple [3588] which is [3004] called [5611] Beautiful, to [0154] ask [1654] alms of them that [1531] entered [1519] into the [2411] temple;
3:3 [3739] Who [1492] seeing [4074] Peter and [2491] John [3195] about to [1524] go [1519] into the [2411] temple [2065] asked an [1654] alms.
3:4 And [4074] Peter, [0816] fastening his eyes upon him with [2491] John, [2036] said, [0991] Look [1519] on us.
3:5 And he [1907] gave [1907] heed unto them, [4328] expecting to [2983] receive [5100] something of them.
3:6 [1161] Then [4074] Peter [2036] said, [0694] Silver and [5553] gold [5225] have I [3756] none; but such as I [2192] have [1325] give I thee: In the [3686] name of [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ of [3478] Nazareth [1453] rise up and [4043] walk.
3:7 And he [4084] took him by the [1188] right [5495] hand, and [1453] lifted him up: and [3916] immediately his [0939] feet and [4974] ancle [4974] bones [4732] received [4732] strength.
3:8 And he [1814] leaping up [2476] stood, and [4043] walked, and [1525] entered with them [1519] into the [2411] temple, [4043] walking, and [0242] leaping, and [0134] praising [2316] God.
3:9 And [3956] all the [2992] people [1492] saw him [4043] walking and [0134] praising [2316] God:
3:10 And they [1921] knew that it was he [3588] which [2521] sat for [1654] alms [1909] at the [5611] Beautiful [4439] gate of the [2411] temple: and they were [4130] filled with [2285] wonder and [1611] amazement [1909] at that which had [4819] happened unto him.
3:11 And as the [5560] lame man which was [2390] healed [2902] held [4074] Peter and [2491] John, [3956] all the [2992] people [4936] ran [4936] together unto them in the [4745] porch that is [2564] called [4672] Solomon's, [1569] greatly [1569] wondering.
3:12 And when [4074] Peter [1492] saw it, he [0611] answered unto the [2992] people, Ye [0435] men of [2475] Israel, [5101] why [2296] marvel ye [1909] at [5129] this? [2228] or [5101] why [0816] look ye so [0816] earnestly [1909] on us, as though by our [2398] own [1411] power [2228] or [2150] holiness we had [4160] made [0846] this man to [4043] walk?
3:13 The [2316] God of [0011] Abraham, and of [2464] Isaac, and of [2384] Jacob, the [2316] God of our [3962] fathers, hath [1392] glorified his [3816] Son [2424] Jesus; [3739] whom ye [3860] delivered up, and [0720] denied him in the [4383] presence of [4091] Pilate, when he was [2919] determined to [0630] let him [0630] go.
3:14 But ye [0720] denied the [0040] Holy One and the [1342] Just, and [0154] desired a [5406] murderer to be [5483] granted unto you;
3:15 And [0615] killed the [0747] Prince of [2222] life, [3739] whom [2316] God hath [1453] raised from the [3498] dead; [3739] whereof we are [3144] witnesses.
3:16 And his [3686] name [1909] through [4102] faith in his [3686] name hath [4732] made [5026] this man [4732] strong, [3739] whom ye [2334] see and [1492] know: [2532] yea, the [4102] faith which is by him hath [1325] given him [5126] this [3647] perfect [3647] soundness in the [0561] presence of you [3956] all.
3:17 And [3568] now, [0080] brethren, I [1492] wot that [2596] through [0052] ignorance ye [4238] did it, as did [2532] also [5216] your [0758] rulers.
3:18 But those things, [3739] which [2316] God [4293] before had [4293] shewed by the [4750] mouth of [3956] all his [4396] prophets, that [5547] Christ should [3958] suffer, he hath [3779] so [4137] fulfilled.
3:19 [3340] Repent ye [3767] therefore, and be [1994] converted, that [5216] your [0266] sins may be [1813] blotted out, [3704] when the [2540] times of [0403] refreshing shall [2064] come from the [4383] presence of the [2962] Lord.
3:20 And he shall [0649] send [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ, which [4296] before was [4296] preached unto you:
3:21 [3739] Whom the [3772] heaven [1163] must [1209] receive [0891] until the [5550] times of [0605] restitution of [3956] all things, [3739] which [2316] God hath [2980] spoken by the [4750] mouth of [3956] all his [0040] holy [4396] prophets [0575] since the [0165] world began.
3:22 For [3475] Moses [3303] truly [2036] said unto the [3962] fathers, A [4396] prophet shall the [2962] Lord [5216] your [2316] God [0450] raise up unto you of [5216] your [0080] brethren, [5613] like unto me; him shall ye [0191] hear in [3956] all things [0302] whatsoever he shall [2980] say unto you.
3:23 And it shall [1511] come to pass, that [3956] every [5590] soul, [0302] which will not [0191] hear that [4396] prophet, shall be [1842] destroyed from among the [2992] people.
3:24 [1161] Yea, and [3956] all the [4396] prophets from [4545] Samuel and [3588] those that [2517] follow [2517] after, as [3745] many as have [2980] spoken, have [2532] likewise [4293] foretold of [5025] these [2250] days.
3:25 Ye are the [5207] children of the [4396] prophets, and of the [1242] covenant [3739] which [2316] God [1303] made with our [3962] fathers, [3004] saying unto [0011] Abraham, And in thy [4690] seed shall [3956] all the [3965] kindreds of the [1093] earth be [1757] blessed.
3:26 Unto you [4412] first [2316] God, having [0450] raised up his [3816] Son [2424] Jesus, [0649] sent him to [2127] bless you, in [0654] turning [0654] away [1538] every one of you from his [4189] iniquities.
4:1 And as they [2980] spake unto the [2992] people, the [2409] priests, and the [4755] captain of the [2411] temple, and the [4523] Sadducees, [2186] came upon them,
4:2 Being [1278] grieved that they [1321] taught the [2992] people, and [2605] preached [1722] through [2424] Jesus the [0386] resurrection from the [3498] dead.
4:3 And they [1911] laid [5495] hands on them, and [5087] put them in [5084] hold unto the [0839] next [0839] day: for it was [2235] now [2073] eventide.
4:4 Howbeit [4183] many of them which [0191] heard the [3056] word [4100] believed; and the [0706] number of the [0435] men was [5616] about [4002] five [5505] thousand.
4:5 And it [1096] came to pass [1909] on the [0839] morrow, that their [0758] rulers, and [4245] elders, and [1122] scribes,
4:6 And [0452] Annas the [0749] high [0749] priest, and [2533] Caiaphas, and [2491] John, and [0223] Alexander, and as [3745] many as were of the [1085] kindred of the [0748] high [0748] priest, were [4863] gathered [4863] together [1519] at [2419] Jerusalem.
4:7 And when they had [2476] set them in the [3319] midst, they [4441] asked, By [4169] what [1411] power, [2228] or by [4169] what [3686] name, have ye [4160] done [5124] this?
4:8 [5119] Then [4074] Peter, [4130] filled with the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, [2036] said unto them, Ye [0758] rulers of the [2992] people, and [4245] elders of [2474] Israel,
4:9 [1487] If we [4594] this [4594] day be [0350] examined of the [2108] good [2108] deed done to the [0772] impotent [0444] man, by [5101] what means he is [4982] made [4982] whole;
4:10 Be it [1110] known unto you [3956] all, and to [3956] all the [2992] people of [2474] Israel, that by the [3686] name of [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ of [3478] Nazareth, [3739] whom ye [4717] crucified, [3739] whom [2316] God [1453] raised from the [3498] dead, even by him doth this man [3936] stand [3936] here [1799] before you [5199] whole.
4:11 This is the [3037] stone [3588] which was [1848] set [1848] at [1848] nought of you [3618] builders, [3588] which is [1096] become the [2776] head of the [1137] corner.
4:12 [3756] Neither is there [4991] salvation in [3762] any [0243] other: for there is [3777] none [2087] other [3686] name [5259] under [3772] heaven [1325] given [1722] among [0444] men, [3739] whereby we [1163] must be [4982] saved.
4:13 [1161] Now when they [2334] saw the [3954] boldness of [4074] Peter and [2491] John, and [2638] perceived that they were [0062] unlearned and [2399] ignorant [0444] men, they [2296] marvelled; and they [1921] took [1921] knowledge of them, that they had [2258] been with [2424] Jesus.
4:14 And [0991] beholding the [0444] man which was [2323] healed [2476] standing with them, they [2192] could [0471] say [3762] nothing [0471] against it.
4:15 But when they had [2753] commanded them to [0565] go [0565] aside out of the [4892] council, they [4820] conferred [0240] among [0240] themselves,
4:16 [3004] Saying, [5101] What shall we [4160] do to [5125] these [0444] men? for that [3303] indeed a [1110] notable [4592] miracle hath been [1096] done by them is [5319] manifest to [3956] all them that [2730] dwell in [2419] Jerusalem; and we [1410] cannot [0720] deny it.
4:17 But that it [1268] spread [3361] no [4119] further [1519] among the [2992] people, let us [0547] straitly [0546] threaten them, that they [2980] speak [3371] henceforth to [3367] no [0444] man in [5129] this [3686] name.
4:18 And they [2564] called them, and [3853] commanded them not to [5350] speak [2527] at [2527] all [3366] nor [1321] teach in the [3686] name of [2424] Jesus.
4:19 But [4074] Peter and [2491] John [0611] answered and [2036] said unto them, [1487] Whether it be [1342] right in the [1799] sight of [2316] God to [0191] hearken unto you [3123] more [2228] than unto [2316] God, [2919] judge ye.
4:20 For we [1410] cannot but [2980] speak the things [3739] which we have [1492] seen and [0191] heard.
4:21 [1161] So when they had further [4324] threatened them, they let them [0630] go, [2147] finding [3367] nothing [4459] how they might [2849] punish them, [1223] because of the [2992] people: for [3956] all men [1392] glorified [2316] God for that which was [1096] done.
4:22 For the [0444] man was [4119] above [5062] forty [2094] years old, [1909] on [3739] whom [5124] this [4592] miracle of [2392] healing was [1096] shewed.
4:23 And being let [0630] go, they [2064] went to their [2398] own [2398] company, and [0518] reported [3745] all that the [0749] chief [0749] priests and [4245] elders had [2036] said unto them.
4:24 And when they [0191] heard that, they [0142] lifted up their [5456] voice to [2316] God with [3661] one [3661] accord, and [2036] said, [1203] Lord, thou art [2316] God, [3588] which hast [4160] made [3772] heaven, and [1093] earth, and the [2281] sea, and [3956] all that in them is:
4:25 [3588] Who by the [4750] mouth of thy [3816] servant [1138] David hast [2036] said, [2444] Why did the [1484] heathen [5433] rage, and the [2992] people [3191] imagine [2756] vain things?
4:26 The [0935] kings of the [1093] earth [3936] stood up, and the [0758] rulers were [4863] gathered [0846] together [2596] against the [2962] Lord, and [2596] against his [5547] Christ.
4:27 For of a [0225] truth [1909] against thy [0040] holy [3816] child [2424] Jesus, [3739] whom thou hast [5548] anointed, [5037] both [2264] Herod, and [4194] Pontius [4091] Pilate, with the [1484] Gentiles, and the [2992] people of [2474] Israel, were [4863] gathered [4863] together,
4:28 For to [4160] do [3745] whatsoever thy [5495] hand and thy [1012] counsel [4309] determined [4309] before to be [1096] done.
4:29 And [3569] now, [2962] Lord, [1896] behold their [0547] threatenings: and [1325] grant unto thy [1401] servants, that with [3956] all [3954] boldness they may [2980] speak thy [3056] word,
4:30 By [1614] stretching [1614] forth [4675] thine [5495] hand to [2392] heal; and that [4592] signs and [5059] wonders may be [1096] done by the [3686] name of thy [0040] holy [3816] child [2424] Jesus.
4:31 And when they had [1189] prayed, the [5117] place was [4531] shaken [3739] where they were [4863] assembled [4863] together; and they were [0537] all [4130] filled with the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, and they [2980] spake the [3056] word of [2316] God with [3954] boldness.
4:32 And the [4128] multitude of them that [4100] believed were of one [2588] heart and of [3391] one [5590] soul: [3761] neither [3004] said [1520] any of them that [5100] ought of the things which he [5224] possessed was his [2398] own; but they had [0537] all things [2839] common.
4:33 And with [3173] great [1411] power [0591] gave the [0652] apostles [3142] witness of the [0386] resurrection of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus: and [3173] great [5485] grace was upon them [3956] all.
4:34 [3761] Neither was there [5100] any [1722] among them that [1729] lacked: for as [3745] many as [5225] were [2935] possessors of [5564] lands [2228] or [3614] houses [4453] sold them, and [5342] brought the [5092] prices of the things that were [4097] sold,
4:35 And [5087] laid them down [3844] at the [0652] apostles' [4228] feet: and [1239] distribution was [1239] made unto [1538] every man [2530] according as he [2192] had [5532] need.
4:36 And [2500] Joses, [3588] who by the [0652] apostles was [1941] surnamed [0921] Barnabas, ( [3739] which is, being [3177] interpreted, The [5207] son of [3874] consolation,) a [3019] Levite, and of the [1085] country of [2954] Cyprus,
4:37 [0846] Having [0068] land, [4453] sold it, and [5342] brought the [5536] money, and [5087] laid it [3844] at the [0652] apostles' [4228] feet.
5:1 But a [5100] certain [0435] man [3686] named [0367] Ananias, with [4551] Sapphira his [1135] wife, [4453] sold a [2933] possession,
5:2 And [3557] kept [3557] back part of the [5092] price, his [1135] wife [2532] also being [4894] privy to it, and [5342] brought a [5100] certain [3313] part, and [5087] laid it [3844] at the [0652] apostles' [4228] feet.
5:3 But [4074] Peter [2036] said, [0367] Ananias, [1302] why hath [4567] Satan [4137] filled [4675] thine [2588] heart to [5574] lie to the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, and to [3557] keep [3557] back part of the [5092] price of the [5564] land?
5:4 Whiles it [3306] remained, [5225] was it not [4671] thine own? and after it was [4097] sold, was it not in [4674] thine own [1849] power? [5101] why hast thou [5087] conceived [5124] this [4229] thing in [4675] thine [2588] heart? thou hast not [5574] lied unto [0444] men, but unto [2316] God.
5:5 And [0367] Ananias [0191] hearing [5128] these [3056] words [4098] fell down, and gave up the [1634] ghost: and [3173] great [5401] fear [1096] came [1909] on [3956] all them that [0191] heard [5023] these things.
5:6 And the [3501] young men [0450] arose, [4958] wound him up, and [1627] carried him out, and [2290] buried him.
5:7 And it was [5613] about the [1292] space of [5140] three [5610] hours after, when his [1135] wife, not [1492] knowing [3588] what was [1096] done, [1525] came in.
5:8 And [4074] Peter [0611] answered unto her, [2036] Tell me [1487] whether ye [0591] sold the [5564] land for [5118] so [5118] much? And she [2036] said, [3483] Yea, for [5118] so [5118] much.
5:9 [1161] Then [4074] Peter [2036] said unto her, [5101] How is it that ye have [4856] agreed [4856] together to [3985] tempt the [4151] Spirit of the [2962] Lord? [2400] behold, the [4228] feet of them which have [2290] buried thy [0435] husband are [1909] at the [2374] door, and shall [1627] carry thee out.
5:10 [1161] Then [4098] fell she down [3916] straightway [3844] at his [4228] feet, and [1634] yielded up the [1634] ghost: and the [3495] young [3495] men [1525] came in, and [2147] found her [3498] dead, and, [1627] carrying her [1627] forth, [2290] buried her by her [0435] husband.
5:11 And [3173] great [5401] fear [1096] came upon [3650] all the [1577] church, and upon as many as [0191] heard [5023] these things.
5:12 And by the [5495] hands of the [0652] apostles were [4183] many [4592] signs and [5059] wonders [1096] wrought [1722] among the [2992] people; (and they were [0537] all with [3661] one [3661] accord in [4672] Solomon's [4745] porch.
5:13 And of the [3062] rest [5111] durst [3762] no [3762] man [2853] join himself to them: but the [2992] people [3170] magnified them.
5:14 And [4100] believers were the [3123] more [4369] added to the [2962] Lord, [4128] multitudes [5037] both of [0435] men and [1135] women.)
5:15 [5620] Insomuch that they [1627] brought [1627] forth the [0772] sick [2596] into the [4113] streets, and [5087] laid them [1909] on [2825] beds and [2895] couches, that [2579] at the [2579] least the [4639] shadow of [4074] Peter [2064] passing by might [1982] overshadow [5100] some of them.
5:16 There [4905] came [2532] also a [4128] multitude out of the [4172] cities [4038] round [4038] about unto [2419] Jerusalem, [5342] bringing [0772] sick folks, and them which were [3791] vexed with [0169] unclean [4151] spirits: and they were [2323] healed [0537] every one.
5:17 [1161] Then the [0749] high [0749] priest [0450] rose up, and [3956] all they that were with him, ( [3588] which is the [0139] sect of the [4523] Sadducees,) and were [4137] filled with [2205] indignation,
5:18 And [1911] laid their [5495] hands [1909] on the [0652] apostles, and [5087] put them in the [1219] common [5084] prison.
5:19 But the [0032] angel of the [2962] Lord by [3571] night [0455] opened the [5438] prison [2374] doors, and [1806] brought them [1806] forth, and [2036] said,
5:20 [4198] Go, [2476] stand and [2980] speak in the [2411] temple to the [2992] people [3956] all the [4487] words of [5026] this [2222] life.
5:21 And when they [0191] heard that, they [1525] entered [1519] into the [2411] temple [3722] early in the morning, and [1321] taught. But the [0749] high [0749] priest [3854] came, and they that were with him, and [4779] called the [4892] council [4779] together, and [3956] all the [1087] senate of the [5207] children of [2474] Israel, and [0649] sent to the [1201] prison to have them [0071] brought.
5:22 But when the [5257] officers [3854] came, and [2147] found them not in the [5438] prison, they [0390] returned and [0518] told,
5:23 [3004] Saying, The [1201] prison [3303] truly [2147] found we [2808] shut with [3956] all [0803] safety, and the [5441] keepers [2476] standing [1854] without [4253] before the [2374] doors: but when we had [0455] opened, we [2147] found [3762] no [3762] man [2080] within.
5:24 [1161] Now [5613] when the [2409] high [0749] priest and the [4755] captain of the [2411] temple and the [0749] chief [0749] priests [0191] heard [5128] these [3056] things, they [1280] doubted of them [5101] whereunto [5124] this would [1096] grow.
5:25 [1161] Then [3854] came [5100] one and [0518] told them, [3004] saying, [2400] Behold, the [0435] men [3739] whom ye [5087] put in [5438] prison are [2476] standing in the [2411] temple, and [1321] teaching the [2992] people.
5:26 [5119] Then [0565] went the [4755] captain with the [5257] officers, and [0071] brought them [3326] without [0970] violence: for they [5399] feared the [2992] people, [3361] lest they should have been [3034] stoned.
5:27 And when they had [0071] brought them, they [2476] set them [1722] before the [4892] council: and the [0749] high [0749] priest [1905] asked them,
5:28 [3004] Saying, Did not we straitly [3853] command you that ye should not [1321] teach in [5129] this [3686] name? and, [2400] behold, ye have [4137] filled [2419] Jerusalem with [5216] your [1322] doctrine, and [1014] intend to [1863] bring [5127] this [0444] man's [0129] blood upon us.
5:29 [1161] Then [4074] Peter and the other [0652] apostles [0611] answered and [2036] said, We [1163] ought to [3980] obey [2316] God [3123] rather [2228] than [0444] men.
5:30 The [2316] God of our [3962] fathers [1453] raised up [2424] Jesus, [3739] whom ye [1315] slew and [2910] hanged [1909] on a [3586] tree.
5:31 Him hath [2316] God [5312] exalted with his [1188] right hand to be a [0747] Prince and a [4990] Saviour, for to [1325] give [3341] repentance to [2474] Israel, and [0859] forgiveness of [0266] sins.
5:32 And we are his [3144] witnesses of [5130] these [4487] things; and so is [2532] also the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, [3739] whom [2316] God hath [1325] given to them that [3980] obey him.
5:33 When they [0191] heard that, they were [1282] cut to the heart, and [1011] took [1011] counsel to [0337] slay them.
5:34 [1161] Then [0450] stood there up [5100] one in the [4892] council, a [5330] Pharisee, [3686] named [1059] Gamaliel, a [3547] doctor of the [3547] law, had in [5093] reputation among [3956] all the [2992] people, and [2753] commanded to [4160] put the [0652] apostles [1854] forth a [1024] little [1024] space;
5:35 And [2036] said unto them, Ye [0435] men of [2475] Israel, take [4337] heed to [1438] yourselves [5101] what ye [3195] intend to [4238] do as [1909] touching [5125] these [0444] men.
5:36 For [4253] before [5130] these [2250] days [0450] rose up [2333] Theudas, [3004] boasting [1438] himself to be [5100] somebody; to [3739] whom a [0706] number of [0435] men, [5616] about four [5071] hundred, [4347] joined themselves: [3739] who was [0337] slain; and [3956] all, as [3745] many as [3982] obeyed him, were [1262] scattered, and [1096] brought to [3762] nought.
5:37 [3326] After [5126] this man [0450] rose up [2455] Judas of [1056] Galilee in the [2250] days of the [0583] taxing, and [0868] drew [0868] away [2425] much [2992] people [3694] after him: he [2548] also [0622] perished; and [3956] all, even as [3745] many as [3982] obeyed him, were [1287] dispersed.
5:38 And [3569] now I [3004] say unto you, [0868] Refrain from [5130] these [0444] men, and [1439] let them [1439] alone: for [1437] if this [1012] counsel [2228] or this [2041] work be of [0444] men, it will [2647] come to [2647] nought:
5:39 But [1487] if it be of [2316] God, ye [1410] cannot [2647] overthrow it; [3379] lest [3379] haply ye be [2147] found [2532] even to [2314] fight against [2314] God.
5:40 And to him they [3982] agreed: and when they had [4341] called the [0652] apostles, and [1194] beaten them, they [3853] commanded that they should not [2980] speak in the [3686] name of [2424] Jesus, and [0630] let them [0630] go.
5:41 And they [4198] departed from the [4383] presence of the [4892] council, [5463] rejoicing that they were [2661] counted [2661] worthy to [0818] suffer shame for his [3686] name.
5:42 And [2250] daily in the [2411] temple, and in [2596] every [3624] house, they [3973] ceased not to [1321] teach and [2097] preach [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ.
6:1 And in [5025] those [2250] days, when the number of the [3101] disciples was [4129] multiplied, there [1096] arose a [1112] murmuring of the [1675] Grecians [4314] against the [1445] Hebrews, [3754] because their [5503] widows were [3865] neglected in the [2522] daily [1248] ministration.
6:2 [1161] Then the [1427] twelve [4341] called the [4128] multitude of the [3101] disciples unto them, and [2036] said, It is not [0701] reason that we should [2641] leave the [3056] word of [2316] God, and [1247] serve [5132] tables.
6:3 [3767] Wherefore, [0080] brethren, [1980] look ye out [1537] among you [2033] seven [0435] men of honest [3140] report, [4134] full of the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost and [4678] wisdom, [3739] whom we may [2525] appoint [1909] over [5026] this [5532] business.
6:4 But we will [4342] give ourselves [4342] continually to [4335] prayer, and to the [1248] ministry of the [3056] word.
6:5 And the [3056] saying [0700] pleased the [3956] whole [4128] multitude: and they [1586] chose [4736] Stephen, a [0435] man [4134] full of [4102] faith and of the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, and [5376] Philip, and [4402] Prochorus, and [3527] Nicanor, and [5096] Timon, and [3937] Parmenas, and [3532] Nicolas a [4339] proselyte of [0491] Antioch:
6:6 [3739] Whom they [2476] set [1799] before the [0652] apostles: and when they had [4336] prayed, they [2007] laid their [5495] hands [2007] on them.
6:7 And the [3056] word of [2316] God [0837] increased; and the [0706] number of the [3101] disciples [4129] multiplied in [2419] Jerusalem [4970] greatly; and a [4183] great [3793] company of the [2409] priests were [5219] obedient to the [4102] faith.
6:8 And [4736] Stephen, [4134] full of [4102] faith and [1411] power, [4160] did [3173] great [5059] wonders and [4592] miracles [1722] among the [2992] people.
6:9 [1161] Then there [0450] arose [5100] certain of the [4864] synagogue, [3588] which is [3004] called the [4864] synagogue of the [3032] Libertines, and [2956] Cyrenians, and [0221] Alexandrians, and of them of [2791] Cilicia and of [0773] Asia, [4802] disputing with [4736] Stephen.
6:10 And they were not [2480] able to [0436] resist the [4678] wisdom and the [4151] spirit by [3739] which he [2980] spake.
6:11 [5119] Then they [5260] suborned [0435] men, which [3004] said, We have [0191] heard him [2980] speak [0989] blasphemous [4487] words [1519] against [3475] Moses, and against [2316] God.
6:12 And they [4787] stirred up the [2992] people, and the [4245] elders, and the [1122] scribes, and [2186] came upon him, and [4884] caught him, and [0071] brought him to the [4892] council,
6:13 And [2476] set up [5571] false [3144] witnesses, which [3004] said, [5127] This [0444] man [3973] ceaseth not to [2980] speak [0989] blasphemous [4487] words [2596] against [3778] this [0040] holy [5117] place, and the [3551] law:
6:14 For we have [0191] heard him [3004] say, that [5126] this [2424] Jesus of [3478] Nazareth shall [2647] destroy [3778] this [5117] place, and shall [0236] change the [1485] customs [3739] which [3475] Moses [3860] delivered us.
6:15 And [0537] all that [2516] sat in the [4892] council, [0816] looking [0816] stedfastly [1519] on him, [1492] saw his [4383] face as it had been the [4383] face of an [0032] angel.
7:1 [1161] Then [2036] said the [0749] high [0749] priest, Are [5023] these things [3779] so?
7:2 And he [5346] said, [0435] Men, [0080] brethren, and [3962] fathers, [0191] hearken; The [2316] God of [1391] glory [3700] appeared unto our [3962] father [0011] Abraham, when he was in [3318] Mesopotamia, [2228] before he [2730] dwelt in [5488] Charran,
7:3 And [2036] said unto him, [1831] Get thee out of thy [1093] country, and from thy [4772] kindred, and [1204] come [1519] into the [1093] land [3739] which I shall [1166] shew thee.
7:4 [5119] Then [1831] came he out of the [1093] land of the [5466] Chaldaeans, and [2730] dwelt in [5488] Charran: and from [1564] thence, [3326] when his [3962] father was [0599] dead, he [3351] removed him [1519] into [5026] this [1093] land, [3757] wherein ye [3568] now [2730] dwell.
7:5 And he [1325] gave him [3756] none [2817] inheritance in it, no, not so much as to [0968] set his [4228] foot on: [2532] yet he [1861] promised that he would [1325] give it to him for a [2697] possession, and to his [4690] seed [3326] after him, when as yet he [5607] had [3756] no [5043] child.
7:6 And [2316] God [2980] spake on [3779] this [3779] wise, That his [4690] seed should [3941] sojourn in a [0245] strange [1093] land; and that they should [1402] bring them into [1402] bondage, and [2559] entreat them [2559] evil four [5071] hundred [2094] years.
7:7 And the [1484] nation to [3739] whom they shall be in [1398] bondage will I [2919] judge, [2036] said [2316] God: and [3326] after that shall they [1831] come [1831] forth, and [3000] serve me in [5129] this [5117] place.
7:8 And he [1325] gave him the [1242] covenant of [4061] circumcision: and [3779] so Abraham [1080] begat [2464] Isaac, and [4059] circumcised him the [3590] eighth [2250] day; and [2464] Isaac begat [2384] Jacob; and [2384] Jacob begat the [1427] twelve [3966] patriarchs.
7:9 And the [3966] patriarchs, [2206] moved with [2206] envy, [0591] sold [2501] Joseph [1519] into [0125] Egypt: but [2316] God was with him,
7:10 And [1807] delivered him out of [3956] all his [2347] afflictions, and [1325] gave him [5485] favour and [4678] wisdom in the [1726] sight of [5328] Pharaoh [0935] king of [0125] Egypt; and he [2525] made him [2233] governor [1909] over [0125] Egypt and [3650] all his [3624] house.
7:11 [1161] Now there [2064] came a [3042] dearth [1909] over [3650] all the [1093] land of [0125] Egypt and [5477] Chanaan, and [3173] great [2347] affliction: and our [3962] fathers [2147] found [3756] no [5527] sustenance.
7:12 But when [2384] Jacob [0191] heard that there was [4621] corn in [0125] Egypt, he [1821] sent out our [3962] fathers [4412] first.
7:13 And [1722] at the [1208] second time [2501] Joseph was [0319] made [0319] known to his [0080] brethren; and [2501] Joseph's [1085] kindred was [1096] made [5318] known unto [5328] Pharaoh.
7:14 [1161] Then [0649] sent [2501] Joseph, and [3333] called his [3962] father [2384] Jacob to him, and [3956] all his [4772] kindred, [1440] threescore and [4002] fifteen [5590] souls.
7:15 [1161] So [2384] Jacob [2597] went [2597] down [1519] into [0125] Egypt, and [5053] died, he, and our [3962] fathers,
7:16 And were [3346] carried [3346] over [1519] into [4966] Sychem, and [5087] laid in the [3418] sepulchre that [0011] Abraham [5608] bought for a [5092] sum of [0694] money of the [5207] sons of [1697] Emmor the father of [4966] Sychem.
7:17 But [2531] when the [5550] time of the [1860] promise drew [1448] nigh, [3739] which [2316] God had [3660] sworn to [0011] Abraham, the [2992] people [0837] grew and [4129] multiplied in [0125] Egypt,
7:18 [3757] Till [2087] another [0935] king [0450] arose, [3739] which [1492] knew not [2501] Joseph.
7:19 The [3778] same [2686] dealt [2686] subtilly with our [1085] kindred, and [2559] evil [2559] entreated our [3962] fathers, so that they [1570] cast out their [1025] young [1025] children, to the [1519] end they might not [2225] live.
7:20 In [3739] which [2540] time [3475] Moses was [1080] born, and was exceeding [0791] fair, and [0396] nourished up in his [3962] father's [3624] house [5140] three [3376] months:
7:21 And when he was [1620] cast out, [5328] Pharaoh's [2364] daughter [0337] took him up, and [0397] nourished him for her [1438] own [5207] son.
7:22 And [3475] Moses was [3811] learned in [3956] all the [4678] wisdom of the [0124] Egyptians, and was [1415] mighty in [3056] words and in [2041] deeds.
7:23 And [5613] when he was [4137] full [5063] forty [5063] years [5550] old, it [0305] came [1909] into his [2588] heart to [1980] visit his [0080] brethren the [5207] children of [2474] Israel.
7:24 And [1492] seeing [5100] one of them suffer [0091] wrong, he [0292] defended him, and [1557] avenged him that was [2669] oppressed, and [3960] smote the [0124] Egyptian:
7:25 For he [3543] supposed his [0080] brethren would have [4920] understood how that [2316] God by his [5495] hand would [1325] deliver them: but they [4920] understood not.
7:26 And the [1966] next [2250] day he [3700] shewed himself unto them as they [3164] strove, and would have [4900] set them [1519] at [1515] one [1515] again, [2036] saying, [0435] Sirs, ye are [0080] brethren; [2444] why [0091] do ye [0091] wrong [0240] one to [0240] another?
7:27 But he that [0091] did his [4139] neighbour [0091] wrong [0683] thrust him [0683] away, [2036] saying, [5101] Who [2525] made thee a [0758] ruler and a [1348] judge [1909] over us?
7:28 [2309] Wilt thou [0337] kill me, as thou [0337] diddest the [0124] Egyptian [5504] yesterday?
7:29 [1161] Then [5343] fled [3475] Moses [1722] at [5129] this [3056] saying, and was a [3941] stranger in the [1093] land of [3099] Madian, [3757] where he [1080] begat [1417] two [5207] sons.
7:30 And when [5062] forty [2094] years were [4137] expired, there [3700] appeared to him in the [2048] wilderness of [3735] mount [4614] Sina an [0032] angel of the [2962] Lord in a [5395] flame of [4442] fire in a [0942] bush.
7:31 When [3475] Moses [1492] saw it, he [2296] wondered at the [3705] sight: and as he [4334] drew [4334] near to [2657] behold it, the [5456] voice of the [2962] Lord [1096] came unto him,
7:32 Saying, I am the [2316] God of thy [3962] fathers, the [2316] God of [0011] Abraham, and the [2316] God of [2464] Isaac, and the [2316] God of [2384] Jacob. [1161] Then [3475] Moses [1096] trembled, and [5111] durst not [2657] behold.
7:33 [1161] Then [2036] said the [2962] Lord to him, [3089] Put [3089] off thy [5266] shoes from thy [4228] feet: for the [5117] place [3739] where thou [2476] standest is [0040] holy [1093] ground.
7:34 I have [1492] seen, I have [1492] seen the [2561] affliction of my [2992] people [3588] which is in [0125] Egypt, and I have [0191] heard their [4726] groaning, and am [2597] come [2597] down to [1807] deliver them. And [3568] now [1204] come, I will [0649] send thee [1519] into [0125] Egypt.
7:35 [5126] This [3475] Moses [3739] whom they [0720] refused, [2036] saying, [5101] Who [2525] made thee a [0758] ruler and a [1348] judge? the [5126] same did [2316] God [0649] send to be a [0758] ruler and a [3086] deliverer by the [5495] hand of the [0032] angel which [3700] appeared to him in the [0942] bush.
7:36 He [1806] brought them out, after that he had [4160] shewed [5059] wonders and [4592] signs in the [1093] land of [0125] Egypt, and in the [2063] Red [2281] sea, and in the [2048] wilderness [5062] forty [2094] years.
7:37 [3778] This is that [3475] Moses, which [2036] said unto the [5207] children of [2474] Israel, A [4396] prophet shall the [2962] Lord [5216] your [2316] God [0450] raise up unto you of [5216] your [0080] brethren, [5613] like unto me; him shall ye [0191] hear.
7:38 [3778] This is he, that was in the [1577] church in the [2048] wilderness with the [0032] angel which [2980] spake to him in the [3735] mount [4614] Sina, and with our [3962] fathers: [3739] who [1209] received the [2198] lively [3051] oracles to [1325] give unto us:
7:39 To [3739] whom our [3962] fathers [2309] would not [5255] obey, but [0683] thrust him from them, and in their [2588] hearts [4762] turned [4762] back [4762] again [1519] into [0125] Egypt,
7:40 [2036] Saying unto [0002] Aaron, [4160] Make us [2316] gods to [4313] go [4313] before us: for as for [3778] this [3475] Moses, [3739] which [1806] brought us out of the [1093] land of [0125] Egypt, we [1492] wot not [5101] what is [1096] become of him.
7:41 And they [3447] made a [3447] calf in [1565] those [2250] days, and [0321] offered [2378] sacrifice unto the [1497] idol, and [2165] rejoiced in the [2041] works of their own [5495] hands.
7:42 [1161] Then [2316] God [4762] turned, and [3860] gave them up to [3000] worship the [4756] host of [3772] heaven; as it is [1125] written in the [0976] book of the [4396] prophets, O ye [3624] house of [2474] Israel, have ye [4374] offered to me [4968] slain [4968] beasts and [2378] sacrifices by the space of [5062] forty [2094] years in the [2048] wilderness?
7:43 [2532] Yea, ye [0353] took up the [4633] tabernacle of [3434] Moloch, and the [0798] star of [5216] your [2316] god [4481] Remphan, [5179] figures [3739] which ye [4160] made to [4352] worship them: and I will [3351] carry you [3351] away [1900] beyond [0897] Babylon.
7:44 Our [3962] fathers had the [4633] tabernacle of [3142] witness in the [2048] wilderness, as he had [1299] appointed, [2980] speaking unto [3475] Moses, that he should [4160] make it [2596] according to the [5179] fashion that he had [3708] seen.
7:45 [3739] Which [2532] also our [3962] fathers that [1237] came [3326] after [1521] brought in with [2424] Jesus [1722] into the [2697] possession of the [1484] Gentiles, [3739] whom [2316] God [1856] drave out [0575] before the [4383] face of our [3962] fathers, unto the [2250] days of [1138] David;
7:46 [3739] Who [2147] found [5485] favour [1799] before [2316] God, and [0154] desired to [2147] find a [4638] tabernacle for the [2316] God of [2384] Jacob.
7:47 But [4672] Solomon [3618] built him an [3624] house.
7:48 [0235] Howbeit the [5310] most [5310] High [2730] dwelleth not in [3485] temples [5499] made with [5499] hands; as [3004] saith the [4396] prophet,
7:49 [3772] Heaven is my [2362] throne, and [1093] earth is my [5286] footstool: [4169] what [3624] house will ye [3618] build me? [3004] saith the [2962] Lord: [2228] or [5101] what is the [5117] place of my [2663] rest?
7:50 Hath not my [5495] hand [4160] made [3956] all [5023] these things?
7:51 Ye [4644] stiffnecked and [0564] uncircumcised in [2588] heart and [3775] ears, ye do [0104] always [0496] resist the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost: as [5216] your [3962] fathers did, [2532] so do ye.
7:52 [5101] Which of the [4396] prophets have not [5216] your [3962] fathers [1377] persecuted? and they have [0615] slain them which [4293] shewed [4293] before of the [1660] coming of the [1342] Just One; of [3739] whom ye have [1096] been [3568] now the [4273] betrayers and [5406] murderers:
7:53 [3748] Who have [2983] received the [3551] law by the [1296] disposition of [0032] angels, and have not [5442] kept it.
7:54 When they [0191] heard [5023] these things, they were [1282] cut to the [2588] heart, and they [1031] gnashed [1909] on him with their [3599] teeth.
7:55 But he, [5225] being [4134] full of the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, [0816] looked up [0816] stedfastly [1519] into [3772] heaven, and [1492] saw the [1391] glory of [2316] God, and [2424] Jesus [2476] standing [1537] on the [1188] right hand of [2316] God,
7:56 And [2036] said, [2400] Behold, I [2334] see the [3772] heavens [0455] opened, and the [5207] Son of [0444] man [2476] standing [1537] on the [1188] right hand of [2316] God.
7:57 [1161] Then they [2896] cried out with a [3173] loud [5456] voice, and [4912] stopped their [3775] ears, and [3729] ran upon him with [3661] one [3661] accord,
7:58 And [1544] cast him out of the [4172] city, and [3036] stoned him: and the [3144] witnesses [0659] laid down their [2440] clothes [3844] at a [3494] young [3494] man's [4228] feet, whose [2564] name was [4569] Saul.
7:59 And they [3036] stoned [4736] Stephen, [1941] calling upon God, and [3004] saying, [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus, [1209] receive my [4151] spirit.
7:60 And he [1119] kneeled down, and [2896] cried with a [3173] loud [5456] voice, [2962] Lord, [2476] lay not [5026] this [0266] sin to their [2476] charge. And when he had [2036] said [5124] this, he fell [2837] asleep.
8:1 And [4569] Saul was [4909] consenting unto his [0336] death. And [1722] at that [2250] time there was a [3173] great [1375] persecution [1909] against the [1577] church which was [1722] at [2414] Jerusalem; and they were [3956] all [1289] scattered [1289] abroad [2596] throughout the [5561] regions of [2449] Judaea and [4540] Samaria, [4133] except the [0652] apostles.
8:2 And [2126] devout [0435] men [4792] carried [4736] Stephen to his burial, and [4160] made [3173] great [2870] lamentation [1909] over him.
8:3 As for [4569] Saul, he made [3075] havock of the [1577] church, [1531] entering [1531] into [2596] every [3624] house, and [4951] haling [0435] men and [1135] women [3860] committed them to [5438] prison.
8:4 [3767] Therefore they that were [1289] scattered [1289] abroad [1330] went [1330] every [1330] where [2097] preaching the [3056] word.
8:5 [1161] Then [5376] Philip [2718] went [2718] down to the [4172] city of [4540] Samaria, and [2784] preached [5547] Christ unto them.
8:6 And the [3793] people with [3661] one [3661] accord [4337] gave [4337] heed unto [3588] those things which [5376] Philip [3004] spake, [0191] hearing and [0991] seeing the [4592] miracles which he [4160] did.
8:7 For [0169] unclean [4151] spirits, [0994] crying with [3173] loud [5456] voice, [1831] came out of [4183] many that were [2192] possessed with them: and [4183] many taken with [3886] palsies, and that were [5560] lame, were [2323] healed.
8:8 And there was [3173] great [5479] joy in that [4172] city.
8:9 But there was a [5100] certain [0435] man, [3686] called [4613] Simon, which [4391] beforetime in the same [4172] city [3096] used [3096] sorcery, and [1839] bewitched the [1484] people of [4540] Samaria, [3004] giving out that [1438] himself was [5100] some [3173] great one:
8:10 To [3739] whom they [3956] all [4337] gave [4337] heed, from the [3398] least to the [3173] greatest, [3004] saying, [3778] This man is the [3173] great [1411] power of [2316] God.
8:11 And to him they had [4337] regard, [1223] because that of [2425] long [5550] time he had [1839] bewitched them with [3095] sorceries.
8:12 But [3753] when they [4100] believed [5376] Philip [2097] preaching the things [4012] concerning the [0932] kingdom of [2316] God, and the [3686] name of [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ, they were [0907] baptized, [5037] both [0435] men and [1135] women.
8:13 [1161] Then [4613] Simon [0846] himself [4100] believed [2532] also: and when he was [0907] baptized, he [4342] continued with [5376] Philip, and [1839] wondered, [2334] beholding the [1411] miracles and [4592] signs which were [1096] done.
8:14 [1161] Now when the [0652] apostles which were [1722] at [2414] Jerusalem [0191] heard that [4540] Samaria had [1209] received the [3056] word of [2316] God, they [0649] sent unto them [4074] Peter and [2491] John:
8:15 [3748] Who, when they were [2597] come [2597] down, [4336] prayed for them, that they might [2983] receive the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost:
8:16 (For as [3768] yet he was [1968] fallen upon [3762] none of them: [3440] only [5225] they [5225] were [0907] baptized in the [3686] name of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus.)
8:17 [5119] Then [2007] laid they their [5495] hands [1909] on them, and they [2983] received the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost.
8:18 And when [4613] Simon [2300] saw that [1223] through [1936] laying [1936] on of the [0652] apostles' [5495] hands the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost was [1325] given, he [4374] offered them [5536] money,
8:19 [3004] Saying, [1325] Give me [2504] also [5026] this [1849] power, that [2007] on [0302] whomsoever I [2007] lay [5495] hands, he may [2983] receive the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost.
8:20 But [4074] Peter [2036] said unto him, Thy [0694] money [0684] perish with thee, [3754] because thou hast [3543] thought that the [1431] gift of [2316] God may be [2932] purchased with [5536] money.
8:21 Thou [2076] hast [3756] neither [3313] part [3761] nor [2819] lot in [5129] this [3056] matter: for thy [2588] heart is not [2117] right in the [1799] sight of [2316] God.
8:22 [3340] Repent [3767] therefore of [5026] this thy [2549] wickedness, and [1189] pray [2316] God, [1487] if [0686] perhaps the [1963] thought of [4671] thine [2588] heart may be [0863] forgiven thee.
8:23 For I [3708] perceive that thou art in the [5521] gall of [4088] bitterness, and in the [4886] bond of [0093] iniquity.
8:24 [1161] Then [0611] answered [4613] Simon, and [2036] said, [1189] Pray ye to the [2962] Lord for me, that [3367] none of these things [3739] which ye have [2046] spoken [1904] come upon me.
8:25 And they, when they had [1263] testified and [2980] preached the [3056] word of the [2962] Lord, [5290] returned to [2419] Jerusalem, and [2097] preached the [2097] gospel in [4183] many [2968] villages of the [4541] Samaritans.
8:26 And the [0032] angel of the [2962] Lord [2980] spake unto [5376] Philip, [3004] saying, [0450] Arise, and [4198] go [2596] toward the [3314] south unto the [3598] way that [2597] goeth [2597] down from [2419] Jerusalem unto [1048] Gaza, [3778] which is [2048] desert.
8:27 And he [0450] arose and [4198] went: and, [2400] behold, a [0435] man of [0128] Ethiopia, an [2135] eunuch of great [1413] authority under [2582] Candace [0938] queen of the [0128] Ethiopians, [3739] who had the [1909] charge of [3956] all her [1047] treasure, and had [2064] come to [2419] Jerusalem for to [4352] worship,
8:28 Was [5290] returning, and [2521] sitting in his [0716] chariot [0314] read [2268] Esaias the [4396] prophet.
8:29 [1161] Then the [4151] Spirit [2036] said unto [5376] Philip, [4334] Go [4334] near, and [2853] join thyself to [5129] this [0716] chariot.
8:30 And [5376] Philip [4370] ran [4370] thither to him, and [0191] heard him [0314] read the [4396] prophet [2268] Esaias, and [2036] said, [1097] Understandest thou [3739] what thou [0314] readest?
8:31 And he [2036] said, [4459] How [1410] can I, [3362] except [5100] some man should [3594] guide me? And he [3870] desired [5376] Philip that he would [0305] come up and [2523] sit with him.
8:32 The [4042] place of the [1124] scripture which he [0314] read was [3778] this, He was [0071] led as a [4263] sheep to the [4967] slaughter; and [5613] like a [0286] lamb [0880] dumb [1726] before his [2751] shearer, [3779] so [0455] opened he not his [4750] mouth:
8:33 In his [5014] humiliation his [2920] judgment was [0142] taken away: and [5101] who shall [1334] declare his [1074] generation? for his [2222] life is [0142] taken from the [1093] earth.
8:34 And the [2135] eunuch [0611] answered [5376] Philip, and [2036] said, I [1189] pray thee, of [5101] whom [3004] speaketh the [4396] prophet [5124] this? of [1438] himself, [2228] or of [5100] some [2087] other man?
8:35 [1161] Then [5376] Philip [0455] opened his [4750] mouth, and [0756] began [0575] at the [5026] same [1124] scripture, and [2097] preached unto him [2424] Jesus.
8:36 And as they [4198] went [2596] on their [3598] way, they [2064] came unto a [5100] certain [5204] water: and the [2135] eunuch [5346] said, [2400] See, here is [5204] water; [5101] what doth [2967] hinder me to be [0907] baptized?
8:37 And [5376] Philip [2036] said, [1487] If thou [4100] believest with [3650] all thine [2588] heart, thou [1832] mayest. And he [0611] answered and [2036] said, I [4100] believe that [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ is the [5207] Son of [2316] God.
8:38 And he [2753] commanded the [0716] chariot to [2476] stand [2476] still: and they [2597] went [2597] down [0297] both [1519] into the [5204] water, [5037] both [5376] Philip and the [2135] eunuch; and he [0907] baptized him.
8:39 And [3753] when they were [0305] come up out of the [5204] water, the [4151] Spirit of the [2962] Lord [0726] caught [0726] away [5376] Philip, that the [2135] eunuch [1492] saw him [3765] no [3765] more: and he [4198] went on his [3598] way [5463] rejoicing.
8:40 But [5376] Philip was [2147] found [1519] at [0108] Azotus: and [1330] passing [1223] through he [2097] preached in [3956] all the [4172] cities, [2193] till he [2064] came to [2542] Caesarea.
9:1 And [4569] Saul, [2089] yet [1709] breathing out [0547] threatenings and [5408] slaughter [1519] against the [3101] disciples of the [2962] Lord, [4334] went unto the [0749] high [0749] priest,
9:2 And [0154] desired of him [1992] letters to [1154] Damascus to the [4864] synagogues, that [1437] if he [2147] found [5100] any of [3588] this [3598] way, [5037] whether they were [0435] men [2532] or [1135] women, he might [0071] bring them [1210] bound unto [2419] Jerusalem.
9:3 And as he [4198] journeyed, he [1096] came [1448] near [1154] Damascus: and [1810] suddenly there [4015] shined [4015] round [4015] about him a [5457] light from [3772] heaven:
9:4 And he [4098] fell to the [1093] earth, and [0191] heard a [5456] voice [3004] saying unto him, [4569] Saul, [4569] Saul, [5101] why [1377] persecutest thou me?
9:5 And he [2036] said, [5101] Who [1488] art thou, [2962] Lord? And the [2962] Lord [2036] said, I [1510] am [2424] Jesus [3739] whom thou [1377] persecutest: it is [4642] hard for thee to [2979] kick [4314] against the [2759] pricks.
9:6 And he [5141] trembling and [2284] astonished [2036] said, [2962] Lord, [5101] what [2309] wilt thou have me to [4160] do? And the [2962] Lord [2036] said unto him, [0450] Arise, and [1525] go [1519] into the [4172] city, and it shall be [2980] told thee [5101] what thou [1163] must [4160] do.
9:7 And the [0435] men [3588] which [4922] journeyed with him [2476] stood [1769] speechless, [0191] hearing a [5456] voice, but [2334] seeing [3367] no [3367] man.
9:8 And [4569] Saul [1453] arose from the [1093] earth; and when his [3788] eyes were [0455] opened, he [0991] saw [3762] no [3762] man: but they [5496] led him by the [5496] hand, and [1521] brought him [1519] into [1154] Damascus.
9:9 And he was [5140] three [2250] days [3361] without [0991] sight, and [3756] neither did [5315] eat [3761] nor [4095] drink.
9:10 And there was a [5100] certain [3101] disciple [1722] at [1154] Damascus, [3686] named [0367] Ananias; and to him [2036] said the [2962] Lord in a [3705] vision, [0367] Ananias. And he [2036] said, [2400] Behold, I am here, [2962] Lord.
9:11 And the [2962] Lord said unto him, [0450] Arise, and [4198] go [1909] into the [4505] street [3588] which is [2564] called [2117] Straight, and [2212] enquire in the [3614] house of [2455] Judas for one [3686] called [4569] Saul, of [5018] Tarsus: for, [2400] behold, he [4336] prayeth,
9:12 And hath [1492] seen in a [3705] vision a [0435] man [3686] named [0367] Ananias [1525] coming in, and [2007] putting his [5495] hand [2007] on him, that he might [0308] receive his [0308] sight.
9:13 [1161] Then [0367] Ananias [0611] answered, [2962] Lord, I have [0191] heard by [4183] many of [5127] this [0435] man, [3745] how [3745] much [2556] evil he hath [4160] done to thy [0040] saints [1722] at [2419] Jerusalem:
9:14 And [5602] here he [2192] hath [1849] authority from the [0749] chief [0749] priests to [1210] bind [3956] all that [1941] call on thy [3686] name.
9:15 But the [2962] Lord [2036] said unto him, [4198] Go thy way: for he is a [1589] chosen [4632] vessel unto me, to [0941] bear my [3686] name [1799] before the [1484] Gentiles, and [0935] kings, and the [5207] children of [2474] Israel:
9:16 For I will [5263] shew him [3745] how [3745] great things he [1163] must [3958] suffer for my [3686] name's sake.
9:17 And [0367] Ananias [0565] went his way, and [1525] entered [1519] into the [3614] house; and [2007] putting his [5495] hands [1909] on him [2036] said, [0080] Brother [4569] Saul, the [2962] Lord, even [2424] Jesus, that [3700] appeared unto thee in the [3598] way as thou [2064] camest, hath [0649] sent me, that thou mightest [0308] receive thy [0308] sight, and be [4130] filled with the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost.
9:18 And [2112] immediately there [0634] fell from his [3788] eyes as it had been [3013] scales: and he [0308] received [0308] sight [3916] forthwith, and [0450] arose, and was [0907] baptized.
9:19 And when he had [2983] received [5160] meat, he was [1765] strengthened. [1161] Then was [4569] Saul [5100] certain [2250] days with the [3101] disciples which were [1722] at [1154] Damascus.
9:20 And [2112] straightway he [2784] preached [5547] Christ in the [4864] synagogues, that he is the [5207] Son of [2316] God.
9:21 But [3956] all that [0191] heard him were [1839] amazed, and [3004] said; Is not [3778] this he that [4199] destroyed them [3588] which [1941] called [1941] on [5124] this [3686] name in [2419] Jerusalem, and [2064] came [5602] hither for that intent, that he might [0071] bring them [1210] bound unto the [0749] chief [0749] priests?
9:22 But [4569] Saul [1743] increased the [3123] more in [1743] strength, and [4797] confounded the [2453] Jews [3588] which [2730] dwelt [1722] at [1154] Damascus, [4822] proving that [3778] this is [0846] very [5547] Christ.
9:23 And [5613] after that [2425] many [2250] days were [4137] fulfilled, the [2453] Jews [4823] took [4823] counsel to [0337] kill him:
9:24 But their [1917] laying [1917] await was [1097] known of [4569] Saul. And they [3906] watched the [4439] gates [2250] day and [3571] night to [0337] kill him.
9:25 [1161] Then the [3101] disciples [2983] took him by [3571] night, and [2524] let him [2524] down by the [5038] wall in a [4711] basket.
9:26 And when [4569] Saul was [3854] come to [2419] Jerusalem, he [3987] assayed to [2853] join himself to the [3101] disciples: but they were [3956] all [5399] afraid of him, and [4100] believed not that he was a [3101] disciple.
9:27 But [0921] Barnabas [1949] took him, and [0071] brought him to the [0652] apostles, and [1334] declared unto them [4459] how he had [1492] seen the [2962] Lord in the [3598] way, and that he had [2980] spoken to him, and [4459] how he had [3954] preached [3955] boldly [1722] at [1154] Damascus in the [3686] name of [2424] Jesus.
9:28 And he was with them [1531] coming in and [1607] going out [1722] at [2419] Jerusalem.
9:29 And he [2980] spake [3955] boldly in the [3686] name of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus, and [4802] disputed [4314] against the [1675] Grecians: but they [2021] went [2021] about to [0337] slay him.
9:30 Which when the [0080] brethren [1921] knew, they [2609] brought him [2609] down to [2542] Caesarea, and [1821] sent him [1821] forth to [5019] Tarsus.
9:31 [3767] Then [2192] had the [1577] churches [1515] rest [2596] throughout [3650] all [2449] Judaea and [1056] Galilee and [4540] Samaria, and were [3618] edified; and [4198] walking in the [5401] fear of the [2962] Lord, and in the [3874] comfort of the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, were [4129] multiplied.
9:32 And it [1096] came to [1330] pass, as [4074] Peter [1330] passed [1223] throughout [3956] all quarters, he [2718] came [2718] down [2532] also to the [0040] saints [3588] which [2730] dwelt at [3069] Lydda.
9:33 And [1563] there he [2147] found a [5100] certain [0444] man [3686] named [0132] Aeneas, which had [2621] kept his [2895] bed [3638] eight [2094] years, and was [3885] sick of the [3886] palsy.
9:34 And [4074] Peter [2036] said unto him, [0132] Aeneas, [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ [2390] maketh thee [2390] whole: [0450] arise, and [4766] make thy [4766] bed. And he [0450] arose [2112] immediately.
9:35 And [3956] all that [2730] dwelt at [3069] Lydda and [4565] Saron [1492] saw him, and [1994] turned to the [2962] Lord.
9:36 [1161] Now there was [1722] at [2445] Joppa a [5100] certain [3102] disciple [3686] named [5000] Tabitha, [3739] which by [1329] interpretation is [3004] called [1393] Dorcas: [3778] this woman was [4134] full of [0018] good [2041] works and [1654] almsdeeds [3739] which she [4160] did.
9:37 And it [1096] came to pass in [1565] those [2250] days, that she was [0770] sick, and [0599] died: whom when they had [3068] washed, they [5087] laid her in an [5253] upper [5253] chamber.
9:38 And [5607] forasmuch as [3069] Lydda was [1451] nigh to [2445] Joppa, and the [3101] disciples had [0191] heard that [4074] Peter was [0846] there, they [0649] sent unto him [1417] two [0435] men, [3870] desiring him that he would not [3635] delay to [1330] come to them.
9:39 [1161] Then [4074] Peter [0450] arose and [4905] went with them. When he was [3854] come, they [0321] brought him [1519] into the [5253] upper [5253] chamber: and [3956] all the [5503] widows [3936] stood by him [2799] weeping, and [1925] shewing the [5509] coats and [2440] garments [3745] which [1393] Dorcas [4160] made, while she was with them.
9:40 But [4074] Peter [1544] put them [3956] all [1854] forth, and [1119] kneeled down, and [4336] prayed; and [1994] turning him to the [4983] body [2036] said, [5000] Tabitha, [0450] arise. And she [0455] opened her [3788] eyes: and when she [1492] saw [4074] Peter, she [0339] sat up.
9:41 And he [1325] gave her his [5495] hand, and [0450] lifted her up, and when he had [5455] called the [0040] saints and [5503] widows, [3936] presented her [2198] alive.
9:42 And it was [1110] known [2596] throughout [3650] all [2445] Joppa; and [4183] many [4100] believed in the [2962] Lord.
9:43 And it [1096] came to pass, that he [3306] tarried [2425] many [2250] days in [2445] Joppa with [5100] one [4613] Simon a [1038] tanner.
10:1 There was a [5100] certain [0435] man in [2542] Caesarea [3686] called [2883] Cornelius, a [1543] centurion of the [4686] band [2564] called the [2483] Italian [4686] band,
10:2 A [2152] devout man, and one that [5399] feared [2316] God with [3956] all his [3624] house, which [4160] gave [4183] much [1654] alms to the [2992] people, and [1189] prayed to [2316] God [1275] alway.
10:3 He [1492] saw in a [3705] vision [5320] evidently [5616] about the [1766] ninth [5610] hour of the [2250] day an [0032] angel of [2316] God [1525] coming in to him, and [2036] saying unto him, [2883] Cornelius.
10:4 And when he [0816] looked on him, he was [1719] afraid, and [2036] said, [5101] What is it, [2962] Lord? And he [2036] said unto him, Thy [4335] prayers and thine [1654] alms are [0305] come up for a [3422] memorial [1799] before [2316] God.
10:5 And [3568] now [3992] send [0435] men to [2445] Joppa, and [3343] call for one [4613] Simon, [3739] whose [1941] surname is [4074] Peter:
10:6 He [3579] lodgeth with [5100] one [4613] Simon a [1038] tanner, [3739] whose [3614] house is by the [2281] sea [2281] side: he shall [2980] tell thee [5101] what thou [1163] oughtest to [4160] do.
10:7 And [5613] when the [0032] angel [3588] which [2980] spake unto [2883] Cornelius was [0565] departed, he [5455] called [1417] two of his [3610] household servants, and a [2152] devout [4757] soldier of them that [4342] waited [4342] on him [4342] continually;
10:8 And when he had [1834] declared [0537] all these things unto them, he [0649] sent them to [2445] Joppa.
10:9 On the [1887] morrow, as they [3596] went on their [3596] journey, and drew [1448] nigh unto the [4172] city, [4074] Peter [0305] went up upon the [1430] housetop to [4336] pray [4012] about the [1623] sixth [5610] hour:
10:10 And he [1096] became [4361] very [4361] hungry, and [2309] would have [1089] eaten: but while they [3903] made [3903] ready, he [1968] fell [1909] into a [1611] trance,
10:11 And [2334] saw [3772] heaven [0455] opened, and a [5100] certain [4632] vessel [2597] descending upon him, as it had been a [3173] great [3607] sheet [1210] knit at the [5064] four [0746] corners, and [2524] let [2524] down to the [1093] earth:
10:12 [3739] Wherein [5225] were [3956] all [3956] manner of [5074] fourfooted [5074] beasts of the [1093] earth, and [2342] wild [2342] beasts, and [2062] creeping things, and [4071] fowls of the [3772] air.
10:13 And there [1096] came a [5456] voice to him, [0450] Rise, [4074] Peter; [2380] kill, and [5315] eat.
10:14 But [4074] Peter [2036] said, Not [3365] so, [2962] Lord; for I have [3763] never [5315] eaten [3956] any thing that is [2839] common [2228] or [0169] unclean.
10:15 And the [5456] voice spake unto him [3825] again the [1208] second time, [3739] What [2316] God hath [2511] cleansed, that [2840] call not thou [2840] common.
10:16 [5124] This was [1096] done [5151] thrice: and the [4632] vessel was [0353] received up [3825] again [1519] into [3772] heaven.
10:17 [1161] Now [5613] while [4074] Peter [1280] doubted in [1438] himself [5101] what [3588] this [3705] vision [3739] which he had [1492] seen should [1498] mean, [2400] behold, the [0435] men [3588] which were [0649] sent from [2883] Cornelius had [1239] made [1331] enquiry for [4613] Simon's [3614] house, and [2186] stood [1909] before the [4440] gate,
10:18 And [5455] called, and [4441] asked [1487] whether [4613] Simon, [3588] which was [1941] surnamed [4074] Peter, were [3579] lodged [1759] there.
10:19 While [4074] Peter [1760] thought [4012] on the [3705] vision, the [4151] Spirit [2036] said unto him, [2400] Behold, [5140] three [0435] men [2212] seek thee.
10:20 [0450] Arise [0235] therefore, and [2597] get thee [2597] down, and [4198] go with them, [1252] doubting [3367] nothing: for I have [0649] sent them.
10:21 [1161] Then [4074] Peter [2597] went [2597] down to the [0435] men [3588] which were [0649] sent unto him from [2883] Cornelius; and [2036] said, [2400] Behold, I [1510] am he [3739] whom ye [2212] seek: [5101] what is the [0156] cause [3739] wherefore ye are [3918] come?
10:22 And they [2036] said, [2883] Cornelius the [1543] centurion, a [1342] just [0435] man, and one that [5399] feareth [2316] God, and of [0018] good [3140] report [5259] among [3650] all the [1484] nation of the [2453] Jews, was [5537] warned from God by an [0040] holy [0032] angel to [3343] send for thee [1519] into his [3624] house, and to [0191] hear [4487] words of thee.
10:23 [3767] Then [1528] called he them in, and [3579] lodged them. And on the [1887] morrow [4074] Peter [1831] went [1831] away with them, and [5100] certain [0080] brethren from [2445] Joppa [4905] accompanied him.
10:24 And the [1887] morrow [3326] after they [1525] entered [1519] into [2542] Caesarea. And [2883] Cornelius [4328] waited for them, and he had [4779] called [4779] together his [4773] kinsmen and [0316] near [5384] friends.
10:25 And as [4074] Peter was [1525] coming in, [2883] Cornelius [4876] met him, and [4098] fell down [1909] at his [4228] feet, and [4352] worshipped him.
10:26 But [4074] Peter [1453] took him up, [3004] saying, [0450] Stand up; I myself [2504] also [1510] am a [0444] man.
10:27 And as he [4926] talked with him, he [1525] went in, and [2147] found [4183] many that were [4905] come [4905] together.
10:28 And he [5346] said unto them, Ye [1987] know [5613] how that it is an [0111] unlawful thing for a [0435] man that is a [2453] Jew to [2853] keep [2853] company, [2228] or [4334] come unto one of [0246] another [0246] nation; but [2316] God hath [1166] shewed me that I should not [3004] call [3367] any [0444] man [2839] common [2228] or [0169] unclean.
10:29 [1352] Therefore [2064] came I unto you [0369] without [0369] gainsaying, as soon as I was [3343] sent for: I [4441] ask [3767] therefore for [5101] what [3056] intent ye have [3343] sent for me?
10:30 And [2883] Cornelius [5346] said, [5067] Four [2250] days [0575] ago I was [3522] fasting [3360] until [5026] this [5610] hour; and at the [1766] ninth [5610] hour I [4336] prayed in my [3624] house, and, [2400] behold, a [0435] man [2476] stood [1799] before me in [2986] bright [2066] clothing,
10:31 And [5346] said, [2883] Cornelius, thy [4335] prayer is [1522] heard, and [4675] thine [1654] alms are had in [3415] remembrance in the [1799] sight of [2316] God.
10:32 [3992] Send [3767] therefore to [2445] Joppa, and [3333] call [3333] hither [4613] Simon, [3739] whose [1941] surname is [4074] Peter; he is [3579] lodged in the [3614] house of one [4613] Simon a [1038] tanner by the [2281] sea [2281] side: [3739] who, when he [3854] cometh, shall [2980] speak unto thee.
10:33 [1824] Immediately [3767] therefore I [3992] sent to thee; and thou hast [2573] well [4160] done that thou art [3854] come. [3568] Now [3767] therefore are we [3956] all [3918] here [3918] present [1799] before [2316] God, to [0191] hear [3956] all things that are [4367] commanded thee of [2316] God.
10:34 [1161] Then [4074] Peter [0455] opened his [4750] mouth, and [2036] said, Of a [0225] truth I [2638] perceive that [2316] God is [3756] no [4381] respecter of [4381] persons:
10:35 But in [3956] every [1484] nation he that [5399] feareth him, and [2038] worketh [1343] righteousness, is [1184] accepted with him.
10:36 The [3056] word [3739] which God [0649] sent unto the [5207] children of [2474] Israel, [2097] preaching [1515] peace by [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ: (he is [2962] Lord of [3956] all:)
10:37 That [4487] word, I say, ye [1492] know, which was [1096] published [2596] throughout [3650] all [2449] Judaea, and [0756] began from [1056] Galilee, [3326] after the [0908] baptism [3739] which [2491] John [2784] preached;
10:38 [5613] How [2316] God [5548] anointed [2424] Jesus of [3478] Nazareth with the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost and with [1411] power: [3739] who [1330] went [1330] about [2109] doing [2109] good, and [2390] healing [3956] all that were [2616] oppressed of the [1228] devil; for [2316] God was with him.
10:39 And we are [3144] witnesses of [3956] all things [3739] which he [4160] did [5037] both in the [5561] land of the [2453] Jews, and in [2419] Jerusalem; [3739] whom they [0337] slew and [2910] hanged [1909] on a [3586] tree:
10:40 Him [2316] God [1453] raised up the [5154] third [2250] day, and [1096] shewed him [1717] openly;
10:41 Not to [3956] all the [2992] people, but unto [3144] witnesses [4401] chosen [4401] before [2316] God, even to us, [3748] who did [4906] eat and [4844] drink with him [3326] after he [0450] rose from the [3498] dead.
10:42 And he [3853] commanded us to [2784] preach unto the [2992] people, and to [1263] testify that it is he [3588] which was [3724] ordained of [2316] God to be the [2923] Judge of [2198] quick and [3498] dead.
10:43 To him give [3956] all the [4396] prophets [3140] witness, that [1223] through his [3686] name [3956] whosoever [4100] believeth in him shall [2983] receive [0859] remission of [0266] sins.
10:44 While [4074] Peter [2089] yet [2980] spake [5023] these [4487] words, the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost [1968] fell [1909] on [3956] all them which [0191] heard the [3056] word.
10:45 And they of the [4061] circumcision which [4103] believed were [1839] astonished, as [3745] many as [4905] came with [4074] Peter, [3754] because that [1909] on the [1484] Gentiles [2532] also was [1632] poured out the [1431] gift of the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost.
10:46 For they [0191] heard them [2980] speak with [1100] tongues, and [3170] magnify [2316] God. [5119] Then [0611] answered [4074] Peter,
10:47 [1410] Can [5100] any [5100] man [2967] forbid [5204] water, that [5128] these should not be [0907] baptized, [3748] which have [2983] received the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost as [2532] well as we?
10:48 And he [4367] commanded them to be [0907] baptized in the [3686] name of the [2962] Lord. [5119] Then [2065] prayed they him to [1961] tarry [5100] certain [2250] days.
11:1 And the [0652] apostles and [0080] brethren that were in [2449] Judaea [0191] heard that the [1484] Gentiles had [2532] also [1209] received the [3056] word of [2316] God.
11:2 And [3753] when [4074] Peter was [0305] come up to [2414] Jerusalem, they that were of the [4061] circumcision [1252] contended with him,
11:3 [3004] Saying, Thou [1525] wentest in to [0435] men [0203] uncircumcised, and didst [4906] eat with them.
11:4 But [4074] Peter [0756] rehearsed the matter from the [0756] beginning, and [1620] expounded it by [2517] order unto them, [3004] saying,
11:5 I was in the [4172] city of [2445] Joppa [4336] praying: and in a [1611] trance I [1492] saw a [3705] vision, A [5100] certain [4632] vessel [2597] descend, as it had been a [3173] great [3607] sheet, [2524] let [2524] down from [3772] heaven by [5064] four [0746] corners; and it [2064] came [0891] even to me:
11:6 Upon the [3739] which when I had [0816] fastened mine eyes, I [2657] considered, and [1492] saw [5074] fourfooted [5074] beasts of the [1093] earth, and [2342] wild [2342] beasts, and [2062] creeping things, and [4071] fowls of the [3772] air.
11:7 And I [0191] heard a [5456] voice [3004] saying unto me, [0450] Arise, [4074] Peter; [2380] slay and [5315] eat.
11:8 But I [2036] said, Not [3365] so, [2962] Lord: for [3763] nothing [2839] common [2228] or [0169] unclean hath [3763] at [3763] any time [1525] entered [1519] into my [4750] mouth.
11:9 But the [5456] voice [0611] answered me [1208] again from [3772] heaven, [3739] What [2316] God hath [2511] cleansed, that [2840] call not thou [2839] common.
11:10 And [5124] this was [1096] done [5151] three [5151] times: and [0537] all were [0385] drawn up [3825] again [1519] into [3772] heaven.
11:11 And, [2400] behold, [1824] immediately there were [5140] three [0435] men already [2186] come unto the [3614] house [3739] where I was, [0649] sent from [2542] Caesarea unto me.
11:12 And the [4151] Spirit [2036] bade me [4905] go with them, [3367] nothing [1252] doubting. [1161] Moreover [3778] these [1803] six [0080] brethren [4862] accompanied me, and we [1525] entered [1519] into the [0435] man's [3624] house:
11:13 And he [0518] shewed us [4459] how he had [1492] seen an [0032] angel in his [3624] house, which [2476] stood and [2036] said unto him, [0649] Send [0435] men to [2445] Joppa, and [3343] call for [4613] Simon, [3588] whose [1941] surname is [4074] Peter;
11:14 [3739] Who shall [2980] tell thee [4487] words, [3739] whereby thou and [3956] all thy [3624] house shall be [4982] saved.
11:15 And as I [0756] began to [2980] speak, the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost [1968] fell [1909] on them, as [1909] on us [1722] at the [0746] beginning.
11:16 [1161] Then [3415] remembered I the [4487] word of the [2962] Lord, [5613] how that he [3004] said, [2491] John [3303] indeed [0907] baptized with [5204] water; but ye shall be [0907] baptized with the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost.
11:17 [1487] Forasmuch [3767] then as [2316] God [1325] gave them the [2470] like [1431] gift as he did unto us, who [4100] believed [1909] on the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ; [5101] what was I, that I [1415] could [2967] withstand [2316] God?
11:18 When they [0191] heard [5023] these things, they [2270] held their [2270] peace, and [1392] glorified [2316] God, [3004] saying, [0686] Then hath [2316] God [2532] also to the [1484] Gentiles [1325] granted [3341] repentance unto [2222] life.
11:19 [3767] Now they which were [1289] scattered [1289] abroad upon the [2347] persecution that [1096] arose [1909] about [4736] Stephen [1330] travelled as [2193] far as [5403] Phenice, and [2954] Cyprus, and [0490] Antioch, [2980] preaching the [3056] word to [3367] none but unto the [2453] Jews [3440] only.
11:20 And [5100] some of them were [0435] men of [2954] Cyprus and [2957] Cyrene, [3748] which, when they were [1525] come to [0490] Antioch, [2980] spake unto the [1675] Grecians, [2097] preaching the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus.
11:21 And the [5495] hand of the [2962] Lord was with them: and a [4183] great [0706] number [4100] believed, and [1994] turned unto the [2962] Lord.
11:22 [1161] Then [3056] tidings of [0846] these things [0191] came unto the [3775] ears of the [1577] church [3588] which was in [2414] Jerusalem: and they [1821] sent [1821] forth [0921] Barnabas, that he should [1330] go as [2193] far as [0490] Antioch.
11:23 [3739] Who, when he [3854] came, and had [1492] seen the [5485] grace of [2316] God, was [5463] glad, and [3870] exhorted them [3956] all, that with [4286] purpose of [2588] heart they would [4347] cleave unto the [2962] Lord.
11:24 For he was a [0018] good [0435] man, and [4134] full of the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost and of [4102] faith: and [2425] much [3793] people was [4369] added unto the [2962] Lord.
11:25 [1161] Then [1831] departed [0921] Barnabas to [5019] Tarsus, for to [0327] seek [4569] Saul:
11:26 And when he had [2147] found him, he [0071] brought him unto [0490] Antioch. And it [1096] came to pass, that a [3650] whole [1763] year they [4863] assembled themselves with the [1577] church, and [1321] taught [2425] much [3793] people. And the [3101] disciples were [5537] called [5546] Christians [4412] first in [0490] Antioch.
11:27 And in [5125] these [2250] days [2718] came [4396] prophets from [2414] Jerusalem unto [0490] Antioch.
11:28 And there [0450] stood up [1520] one of them [3686] named [0013] Agabus, and [4591] signified by the [4151] Spirit that there [3195] should be [3173] great [3042] dearth [1909] throughout [3650] all the [3625] world: [3748] which [1096] came to pass in the [1909] days of [2804] Claudius [2541] Caesar.
11:29 [1161] Then the [3101] disciples, [1538] every [1538] man [2531] according to his [2141] ability, [3724] determined to [3992] send [1248] relief unto the [0080] brethren which [2730] dwelt in [2449] Judaea:
11:30 [3739] Which [2532] also they [4160] did, and [0649] sent it to the [4245] elders by the [5495] hands of [0921] Barnabas and [4569] Saul.
12:1 [1161] Now [2596] about that [2540] time [2264] Herod the [0935] king [1911] stretched [1911] forth his [5495] hands to [2559] vex [5100] certain of the [1577] church.
12:2 And he [0337] killed [2385] James the [0080] brother of [2491] John with the [3162] sword.
12:3 And because he [1492] saw it [0701] pleased the [2453] Jews, he [4369] proceeded further to [4815] take [4074] Peter [2532] also. ( [1161] Then were the [2250] days of [0106] unleavened bread.)
12:4 And when he had [4084] apprehended him, he [5087] put him in [5438] prison, and [3860] delivered him to [5064] four [5069] quaternions of [4757] soldiers to [5442] keep him; [1011] intending [3326] after [3957] Easter to [0321] bring him [0321] forth to the [2992] people.
12:5 [4074] Peter [3767] therefore was [5083] kept in [5438] prison: but [4335] prayer was [1096] made [1618] without [1618] ceasing of the [1577] church unto [2316] God for him.
12:6 And [3753] when [2264] Herod [3195] would have [4254] brought him [4254] forth, the [1565] same [3571] night [4074] Peter was [2837] sleeping [3342] between [1417] two [4757] soldiers, [1210] bound with [1417] two [0254] chains: and the [5441] keepers [4253] before the [2374] door [5083] kept the [5438] prison.
12:7 And, [2400] behold, the [0032] angel of the [2962] Lord [2186] came upon him, and a [5457] light [2989] shined in the [3612] prison: and he [3960] smote [4074] Peter on the [4125] side, and [1453] raised him up, [3004] saying, [0450] Arise up [5034] quickly. And his [0254] chains [1601] fell [1601] off from his [5495] hands.
12:8 And the [0032] angel [2036] said unto him, [2224] Gird thyself, and [5265] bind [5265] on thy [4547] sandals. And [3779] so he [4160] did. And he [3004] saith unto him, [4016] Cast thy [2440] garment [4016] about thee, and [0190] follow me.
12:9 And he [1831] went out, and [0190] followed him; and [1492] wist not that it was [0227] true [3588] which was [1096] done by the [0032] angel; but [1380] thought he [0991] saw a [3705] vision.
12:10 When they were [1330] past the [4413] first and the [1208] second [5438] ward, they [2064] came unto the [4603] iron [4439] gate that [5342] leadeth unto the [4172] city; [3748] which [0455] opened to them of his [0848] own [0844] accord: and they [1831] went out, and [4281] passed on through [3391] one [4505] street; and [2112] forthwith the [0032] angel [0868] departed from him.
12:11 And when [4074] Peter was [1096] come to [1438] himself, he [2036] said, [3568] Now I [1492] know of a [0230] surety, that the [2962] Lord hath [1821] sent his [0032] angel, and hath [1807] delivered me out of the [5495] hand of [2264] Herod, and from [3956] all the [4329] expectation of the [2992] people of the [2453] Jews.
12:12 And when he had [4894] considered the thing, he [2064] came to the [3614] house of [3137] Mary the [3384] mother of [2491] John, [3588] whose [1941] surname was [3138] Mark; [3757] where [2425] many were [4863] gathered [4867] together [4336] praying.
12:13 And as [4074] Peter [2925] knocked at the door of the [4440] gate, a [3814] damsel [4334] came to [5219] hearken, [3686] named [4498] Rhoda.
12:14 And when she [1921] knew [4074] Peter's [5456] voice, she [0455] opened not the [4440] gate for [5479] gladness, but [1532] ran in, and [0518] told how [4074] Peter [2476] stood [4253] before the [4440] gate.
12:15 And they [2036] said unto her, Thou art [3105] mad. But she [1340] constantly [1340] affirmed that it was even [3779] so. [1161] Then [3004] said they, It is his angel.
12:16 But [4074] Peter [1961] continued [2925] knocking: and when they had [0455] opened the door, and [1492] saw him, they were [1839] astonished.
12:17 But he, [2678] beckoning unto them with the [5495] hand to [4601] hold their [4601] peace, [1334] declared unto them [4459] how the [2962] Lord had [1806] brought him out of the [5438] prison. And he [2036] said, Go [0518] shew [5023] these things unto [2385] James, and to the [0080] brethren. And he [1831] departed, and [4198] went [1519] into [2087] another [5117] place.
12:18 [1161] Now as [1096] soon as it was [2250] day, there was [3756] no [3641] small [5017] stir [1722] among the [4757] soldiers, [0686] what was [1096] become of [4074] Peter.
12:19 And when [2264] Herod had [1934] sought for him, and [2147] found him not, he [0350] examined the [5441] keepers, and [2753] commanded that they should be [0520] put to [0520] death. And he [2718] went [2718] down from [2449] Judaea to [2542] Caesarea, and there [1304] abode.
12:20 And [2264] Herod was [2371] highly [2371] displeased with them of [5183] Tyre and [4605] Sidon: but they [3918] came with [3661] one [3661] accord to him, and, having [3982] made [0986] Blastus the [0935] king's [2846] chamberlain their [3982] friend, [0154] desired [1515] peace; [1223] because their [5561] country was [5142] nourished by the [0937] king's [5561] country.
12:21 And upon a [5002] set [2250] day [2264] Herod, [1746] arrayed in [0937] royal [2066] apparel, [2523] sat upon his [0968] throne, and [1215] made an [1215] oration unto them.
12:22 And the [1218] people gave a [2019] shout, saying, It is the [5456] voice of a [2316] god, and not of a [0444] man.
12:23 And [3916] immediately the [0032] angel of the [2962] Lord [3960] smote him, [3739] because he [1325] gave not [2316] God the [1391] glory: and he was [4662] eaten of [4662] worms, and gave up the [1634] ghost.
12:24 But the [3056] word of [2316] God [0837] grew and [4129] multiplied.
12:25 And [0921] Barnabas and [4569] Saul [5290] returned from [2419] Jerusalem, when they had [4137] fulfilled their [1248] ministry, and [4838] took with them [2491] John, [3588] whose [1941] surname was [3138] Mark.
13:1 [1161] Now there were in the [1577] church that was [1722] at [0490] Antioch [5100] certain [4396] prophets and [1320] teachers; as [0921] Barnabas, and [4826] Simeon that was [2564] called [3526] Niger, and [3066] Lucius of [2957] Cyrene, and [3127] Manaen, which had been [4939] brought up with [2264] Herod the [5076] tetrarch, and [4569] Saul.
13:2 As they [3008] ministered to the [2962] Lord, and [3522] fasted, the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost [2036] said, [0873] Separate me [0921] Barnabas and [4569] Saul for the [2041] work [3739] whereunto I have [4341] called them.
13:3 And when they had [3522] fasted and [4336] prayed, and [2007] laid their [5495] hands [2007] on them, they [0630] sent them [0630] away.
13:4 [3767] So they, being [1599] sent [1599] forth by the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, [2718] departed unto [4581] Seleucia; and from [1564] thence they [0636] sailed to [2954] Cyprus.
13:5 And when they were [1722] at [4529] Salamis, they [2605] preached the [3056] word of [2316] God in the [4864] synagogues of the [2453] Jews: and they [2192] had [2532] also [2491] John to their [5257] minister.
13:6 And when they had [1330] gone [1330] through the [3520] isle unto [3974] Paphos, they [2147] found a [5100] certain [3097] sorcerer, a [5578] false [5578] prophet, a [2453] Jew, [3739] whose [3686] name was [0919] Barjesus:
13:7 [3739] Which was with the [0446] deputy of the country, [4588] Sergius [3972] Paulus, a [4908] prudent [0435] man; [3778] who [4341] called for [0921] Barnabas and [4569] Saul, and [1934] desired to [0191] hear the [3056] word of [2316] God.
13:8 But [1681] Elymas the [3097] sorcerer (for [3779] so is his [3686] name by [3177] interpretation) [0436] withstood them, [2212] seeking to [1294] turn [1294] away the [0446] deputy from the [4102] faith.
13:9 [1161] Then [4569] Saul, ( [3739] who [2532] also is called [3972] Paul,) [4130] filled with the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, [0816] set his eyes [1519] on him.
13:10 And [2036] said, O [4134] full of [3956] all [1388] subtilty and [3956] all [4468] mischief, thou [5207] child of the [1228] devil, thou [2190] enemy of [3956] all [1343] righteousness, wilt thou not [3973] cease to [1294] pervert the [2117] right [3598] ways of the [2962] Lord?
13:11 And [3568] now, [2400] behold, the [5495] hand of the [2962] Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be [5185] blind, not [0991] seeing the [2246] sun for a [2540] season. And [3916] immediately there [1968] fell [1909] on him a [0887] mist and a [4655] darkness; and he [4013] went [4013] about [2212] seeking some to [5497] lead him by the [5497] hand.
13:12 [5119] Then the [0446] deputy, when he [1492] saw [3588] what was [1096] done, [4100] believed, being [1605] astonished [1909] at the [1322] doctrine of the [2962] Lord.
13:13 [1161] Now when [3972] Paul and his [4012] company [0321] loosed from [3974] Paphos, they [2064] came to [4011] Perga in [3828] Pamphylia: and [2491] John [0672] departing from them [5290] returned to [2414] Jerusalem.
13:14 But when they [1330] departed from [4011] Perga, they [3854] came to [0490] Antioch in [4099] Pisidia, and [1525] went [1519] into the [4864] synagogue on the [4521] sabbath [2250] day, and [2523] sat [2523] down.
13:15 And [3326] after the [0320] reading of the [3551] law and the [4396] prophets the [0752] rulers of the [0752] synagogue [0649] sent unto them, [3004] saying, Ye [0435] men and [0080] brethren, [1487] if ye [2076] have [5150] any [3056] word of [3874] exhortation for the [2992] people, [3004] say on.
13:16 [1161] Then [3972] Paul [0450] stood up, and [2678] beckoning with his [5495] hand [2036] said, [0435] Men of [2475] Israel, and ye that [5399] fear [2316] God, give [0191] audience.
13:17 The [2316] God of [5127] this [2992] people of [2474] Israel [1586] chose our [3962] fathers, and [5312] exalted the [2992] people [3588] when they [3940] dwelt as [3940] strangers in the [1093] land of [0125] Egypt, and with an [5308] high [1023] arm [1806] brought he them out of it.
13:18 And [5613] about the [5550] time of [5063] forty [5063] years [5159] suffered he their [5159] manners in the [2048] wilderness.
13:19 And when he had [2507] destroyed [2033] seven [1484] nations in the [1093] land of [5477] Chanaan, he [2624] divided their [1093] land to them by [2624] lot.
13:20 And [3326] after that he [1325] gave unto them [2923] judges [5613] about the space of [5071] four [5071] hundred and [4004] fifty [2094] years, [2193] until [4545] Samuel the [4396] prophet.
13:21 And [2547] afterward they [0154] desired a [0935] king: and [2316] God [1325] gave unto them [4569] Saul the [5207] son of [2797] Cis, a [0435] man of the [5443] tribe of [0958] Benjamin, by the space of [5062] forty [2094] years.
13:22 And when he had [3179] removed him, he [1453] raised up unto them [1138] David to be their [0935] king; to [3739] whom [2532] also he [3140] gave [3140] testimony, and [2036] said, I have [2147] found [1138] David the son of [2421] Jesse, a [0435] man [2596] after [3450] mine own [2588] heart, [3739] which shall [4160] fulfil [3956] all my [2307] will.
13:23 Of [5127] this man's [4690] seed hath [2316] God [2596] according to his [1860] promise [1453] raised unto [2474] Israel a [4990] Saviour, [2424] Jesus:
13:24 When [2491] John had first [4296] preached [4253] before his [1529] coming the [0908] baptism of [3341] repentance to [3956] all the [2992] people of [2474] Israel.
13:25 And as [2491] John [4137] fulfilled his [1408] course, he [3004] said, [5101] Whom [5282] think ye that I [1511] am? I [1510] am not he. But, [2400] behold, there [2064] cometh one [3326] after me, [3739] whose [5266] shoes of his [4228] feet I [1510] am not [0514] worthy to [3089] loose.
13:26 [0435] Men and [0080] brethren, [5207] children of the [1085] stock of [0011] Abraham, and whosoever [1722] among you [5399] feareth [2316] God, to you is the [3056] word of [5026] this [4991] salvation [0649] sent.
13:27 For they that [2730] dwell [1722] at [2419] Jerusalem, and their [0758] rulers, because they [0050] knew him not, [2532] nor yet the [5456] voices of the [4396] prophets [3588] which are [0314] read [3956] every [4521] sabbath day, they have [4137] fulfilled them in [2919] condemning him.
13:28 And though they [2147] found [3367] no [0156] cause of [2288] death in him, yet [0154] desired they [4091] Pilate that he should be [0337] slain.
13:29 And [5613] when they had [5055] fulfilled [0537] all that was [1125] written of him, they [2507] took him [2507] down from the [3586] tree, and [5087] laid him in a [3419] sepulchre.
13:30 But [2316] God [1453] raised him from the [3498] dead:
13:31 And he was [3700] seen [4119] many [2250] days of them which [4872] came up with him from [1056] Galilee to [2419] Jerusalem, [3748] who are his [3144] witnesses unto the [2992] people.
13:32 And we [2097] declare unto you [2097] glad [2097] tidings, how that the [1860] promise which was [1096] made unto the [3962] fathers,
13:33 [2316] God hath [1603] fulfilled the [5026] same unto us their [5043] children, in that he hath [0450] raised up [2424] Jesus [0450] again; as it is [2532] also [1125] written in the [1208] second [5568] psalm, Thou [1488] art my [5207] Son, [4594] this [4594] day have I [1080] begotten thee.
13:34 And as [3754] concerning that he [0450] raised him up from the [3498] dead, now [3371] no [3371] more to [5290] return to [1312] corruption, he [2046] said on [3779] this [3779] wise, I will [1325] give you the [4103] sure [3741] mercies of [1138] David.
13:35 [1352] Wherefore he [3004] saith [2532] also in [2087] another psalm, Thou shalt not [1325] suffer [4675] thine [3741] Holy One to [1492] see [1312] corruption.
13:36 For [1138] David, after he had [5256] served his [2398] own [1074] generation by the [1012] will of [2316] God, fell on [2837] sleep, and was [4369] laid unto his [3962] fathers, and [1492] saw [1312] corruption:
13:37 But he, [3739] whom [2316] God [1453] raised [1453] again, [1492] saw [3756] no [1312] corruption.
13:38 Be it [1110] known unto you [3767] therefore, [0435] men and [0080] brethren, that [1223] through [5127] this man is [2605] preached unto you the [0859] forgiveness of [0266] sins:
13:39 And by him [3956] all that [4100] believe are [1344] justified from [3956] all things, from [3739] which ye [1410] could not be [1344] justified by the [3551] law of [3475] Moses.
13:40 [0991] Beware [3767] therefore, [3361] lest that [1904] come upon you, which is [2046] spoken of in the [4396] prophets;
13:41 [1492] Behold, ye [2707] despisers, and [2296] wonder, and [0853] perish: for I [2038] work a [2041] work in [5216] your [2250] days, a [2041] work which ye shall in [3364] no wise [4100] believe, [1437] though a [5100] man [1555] declare it unto you.
13:42 And when the [2453] Jews were [1826] gone out of the [4864] synagogue, the [1484] Gentiles [3870] besought that [5023] these [4487] words might be [2980] preached to them the [3342] next [4521] sabbath.
13:43 [1161] Now when the [4864] congregation was [3089] broken up, [4183] many of the [2453] Jews and [4576] religious [4339] proselytes [0190] followed [3972] Paul and [0921] Barnabas: [3748] who, [4354] speaking to them, [3982] persuaded them to [1961] continue in the [5485] grace of [2316] God.
13:44 And the [2064] next [4521] sabbath day [4863] came [4975] almost the [3956] whole [4172] city [4863] together to [0191] hear the [3056] word of [2316] God.
13:45 But when the [2453] Jews [1492] saw the [3793] multitudes, they were [4130] filled with [2205] envy, and [0483] spake [0483] against [3588] those things which were [3004] spoken by [3972] Paul, [0483] contradicting and [0987] blaspheming.
13:46 [1161] Then [3972] Paul and [0921] Barnabas [3955] waxed [3955] bold, and [2036] said, It was [0316] necessary that the [3056] word of [2316] God should [4412] first have been [2980] spoken to you: but [1894] seeing ye [0683] put it from you, and [2919] judge [1438] yourselves [0514] unworthy of [0166] everlasting [2222] life, [2400] lo, we [4762] turn to the [1484] Gentiles.
13:47 For [3779] so hath the [2962] Lord [1781] commanded us, saying, I have [5087] set thee to be a [5457] light of the [1484] Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for [4991] salvation unto the [2078] ends of the [1093] earth.
13:48 And when the [1484] Gentiles [0191] heard this, they were [5463] glad, and [1392] glorified the [3056] word of the [2962] Lord: and as [3745] many as were [5021] ordained to [0166] eternal [2222] life [4100] believed.
13:49 And the [3056] word of the [2962] Lord was [1308] published [1223] throughout [3650] all the [5561] region.
13:50 But the [2453] Jews [3951] stirred up the [4576] devout and [2158] honourable [1135] women, and the [4413] chief men of the [4172] city, and [1892] raised [1375] persecution [1909] against [3972] Paul and [0921] Barnabas, and [1544] expelled them out of their [3725] coasts.
13:51 But they [1621] shook [1621] off the [2868] dust of their [4228] feet [1909] against them, and [2064] came unto [2430] Iconium.
13:52 And the [3101] disciples were [4137] filled with [5479] joy, and with the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost.
14:1 And it [1096] came to pass in [2430] Iconium, that they [1525] went both [0846] together [1519] into the [4864] synagogue of the [2453] Jews, and [3779] so [2980] spake, that a [4183] great [4128] multitude [5037] both of the [2453] Jews and [2532] also of the [1672] Greeks [4100] believed.
14:2 But the [0544] unbelieving [2453] Jews [1892] stirred up the [1484] Gentiles, and [2559] made their [5590] minds [2559] evil [2559] affected [2596] against the [0080] brethren.
14:3 [2425] Long [5550] time [3767] therefore [1304] abode they speaking [3955] boldly in the [2962] Lord, [3588] which [3140] gave [3140] testimony unto the [3056] word of his [5485] grace, and [1325] granted [4592] signs and [5059] wonders to be [1096] done by their [5495] hands.
14:4 But the [4128] multitude of the [4172] city was [4977] divided: and part [2258] held with the [2453] Jews, and part with the [0652] apostles.
14:5 And [5613] when there was an [3730] assault [1096] made [5037] both of the [1484] Gentiles, and also of the [2453] Jews with their [0758] rulers, to [5195] use them [5195] despitefully, and to [3036] stone them,
14:6 They were [4894] ware of it, and [2703] fled unto [3082] Lystra and [1191] Derbe, [4172] cities of [3071] Lycaonia, and unto the [4066] region that lieth [4066] round [4066] about:
14:7 And [1563] there they [2097] preached the [2097] gospel.
14:8 And there [2521] sat a [5100] certain [0435] man [1722] at [3082] Lystra, [0102] impotent in his [4228] feet, [5225] being a [5560] cripple from his [3384] mother's [2836] womb, [3739] who [3763] never had [4043] walked:
14:9 The [3778] same [0191] heard [3972] Paul [2980] speak: [3739] who [0816] stedfastly [0816] beholding him, and [1492] perceiving that he [2192] had [4102] faith to be [4982] healed,
14:10 [2036] Said with a [3173] loud [5456] voice, [0450] Stand [3717] upright [1909] on thy [4228] feet. And he [0242] leaped and [4043] walked.
14:11 And when the [3793] people [1492] saw [3739] what [3972] Paul had [4160] done, they [1869] lifted up their [5456] voices, [3004] saying in the [3072] speech of [3071] Lycaonia, The [2316] gods are [2597] come [2597] down to us in the [3666] likeness of [0444] men.
14:12 And they [2564] called [0921] Barnabas, [2203] Jupiter; and [3972] Paul, [2060] Mercurius, [1894] because he was the [2233] chief [3056] speaker.
14:13 [1161] Then the [2409] priest of [2203] Jupiter, [3588] which was [4253] before their [4172] city, [5342] brought [5022] oxen and [4725] garlands unto the [4440] gates, and [2309] would have done [2380] sacrifice with the [3793] people.
14:14 Which when the [0652] apostles, [0921] Barnabas and [3972] Paul, [0191] heard of, they [1284] rent their [2440] clothes, and [1530] ran in [1519] among the [3793] people, [2896] crying out,
14:15 And [3004] saying, [0435] Sirs, [5101] why [4160] do ye [5130] these things? We [2532] also are [0444] men of [3663] like [3663] passions with you, and [2097] preach unto you that ye should [1994] turn from [5023] these [3152] vanities unto the [2198] living [2316] God, [3739] which [4160] made [3772] heaven, and [1093] earth, and the [2281] sea, and [3956] all things that are [0846] therein:
14:16 [3739] Who in [1074] times [3944] past [1439] suffered [3956] all [1484] nations to [4198] walk in their [0848] own [3598] ways.
14:17 [2544] Nevertheless he [0863] left not [1438] himself [0267] without [0267] witness, in that he [0015] did [0015] good, and [1325] gave us [5205] rain from [3771] heaven, and [2593] fruitful [2540] seasons, [1705] filling our [2588] hearts with [5160] food and [2167] gladness.
14:18 And with [5023] these [3004] sayings [3433] scarce [2664] restrained they the [3793] people, that they had not done [2380] sacrifice unto them.
14:19 And there [1904] came [1904] thither certain [2453] Jews from [0490] Antioch and [2430] Iconium, [2532] who [3982] persuaded the [3793] people, and having [3034] stoned [3972] Paul, [4951] drew him out of the [4172] city, [3543] supposing he had been [2348] dead.
14:20 Howbeit, as the [3101] disciples [2944] stood [2944] round [2944] about him, he [0450] rose up, and [1525] came [1519] into the [4172] city: and the [1887] next [1887] day he [1831] departed with [0921] Barnabas to [1191] Derbe.
14:21 And when they had [2097] preached the [2097] gospel to that [4172] city, and had [3100] taught [2425] many, they [5290] returned [5290] again to [3082] Lystra, and to [2430] Iconium, and [0490] Antioch,
14:22 [1991] Confirming the [5590] souls of the [3101] disciples, and [3870] exhorting them to [1696] continue in the [4102] faith, and that we [1163] must [1223] through [4183] much [2347] tribulation [1525] enter [1519] into the [0932] kingdom of [2316] God.
14:23 And when they had [5500] ordained them [4245] elders in [2596] every [1577] church, and had [4336] prayed with [3521] fasting, they [3908] commended them to the [2962] Lord, [1519] on [3739] whom they [4100] believed.
14:24 And after they had [1330] passed [1330] throughout [4099] Pisidia, they [2064] came to [3828] Pamphylia.
14:25 And when they had [2980] preached the [3056] word in [4011] Perga, they [2597] went [2597] down [1519] into [0825] Attalia:
14:26 And [1564] thence [0636] sailed to [0490] Antioch, from [3606] whence they had been [3860] recommended to the [5485] grace of [2316] God for the [2041] work [3739] which they [4137] fulfilled.
14:27 And when they were [3854] come, and had [4863] gathered the [1577] church [4863] together, they [0312] rehearsed [3745] all that [2316] God had [4160] done with them, and how he had [0455] opened the [2374] door of [4102] faith unto the [1484] Gentiles.
14:28 And [1563] there they [1304] abode [3641] long [5550] time with the [3101] disciples.
15:1 And [5100] certain men which [2718] came [2718] down from [2449] Judaea [1321] taught the [0080] brethren, and said, [3362] Except ye be [4059] circumcised after the [1485] manner of [3475] Moses, ye [1410] cannot be [4982] saved.
15:2 When [3767] therefore [3972] Paul and [0921] Barnabas [1096] had [3756] no [3641] small [4714] dissension and [4803] disputation with them, they [5021] determined that [3972] Paul and [0921] Barnabas, and [5100] certain [0243] other of them, should [0305] go up to [2419] Jerusalem unto the [0652] apostles and [4245] elders [4012] about [5127] this [2213] question.
15:3 And being [4311] brought on their [4311] way by the [1577] church, they [1330] passed [1330] through [5403] Phenice and [4540] Samaria, [1555] declaring the [1995] conversion of the [1484] Gentiles: and they [4160] caused [3173] great [5479] joy unto [3956] all the [0080] brethren.
15:4 And when they were [3854] come to [2419] Jerusalem, they were [0588] received of the [1577] church, and of the [0652] apostles and [4245] elders, and they [0312] declared [3745] all things that [2316] God had [4160] done with them.
15:5 But there [1817] rose up [5100] certain of the [0139] sect of the [5330] Pharisees which [4100] believed, [3004] saying, That it was [1163] needful to [4059] circumcise them, and to [3853] command them to [5083] keep the [3551] law of [3475] Moses.
15:6 And the [0652] apostles and [4245] elders [4863] came [4863] together for to [1492] consider of [5127] this [3056] matter.
15:7 And when there had [1096] been [4183] much [4803] disputing, [4074] Peter [0450] rose up, and [2036] said unto them, [0435] Men and [0080] brethren, ye [1987] know how that a good [2250] while [0575] ago [2316] God [1586] made [1586] choice [1722] among us, that the [1484] Gentiles by my [4750] mouth should [0191] hear the [3056] word of the [2098] gospel, and [4100] believe.
15:8 And [2316] God, which [2589] knoweth the [2589] hearts, [3140] bare them [3140] witness, [1325] giving them the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, [2532] even as he did unto us;
15:9 And [1252] put [3762] no [1252] difference [3342] between us and them, [2511] purifying their [2588] hearts by [4102] faith.
15:10 [3568] Now [3767] therefore [5101] why [3985] tempt ye [2316] God, to [2007] put a [2218] yoke upon the [5137] neck of the [3101] disciples, [3739] which [3777] neither our [3962] fathers [3777] nor we were [2480] able to [0941] bear?
15:11 But we [4100] believe that [1223] through the [5485] grace of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ we shall be [4982] saved, [2548] even as they.
15:12 [1161] Then [3956] all the [4128] multitude [4601] kept [4601] silence, and gave [0191] audience to [0921] Barnabas and [3972] Paul, [1834] declaring [3745] what [4592] miracles and [5059] wonders [2316] God had [4160] wrought [1722] among the [1484] Gentiles by them.
15:13 And [3326] after they had [4601] held their [4601] peace, [2385] James [0611] answered, [3004] saying, [0435] Men and [0080] brethren, [0191] hearken unto me:
15:14 [4826] Simeon hath [1834] declared [2531] how [2316] God at the [4412] first did [1980] visit the [1484] Gentiles, to [2983] take out of them a [2992] people for his [3686] name.
15:15 And to [5129] this [4856] agree the [3056] words of the [4396] prophets; as it is [1125] written,
15:16 [3326] After [5023] this I will [0390] return, and will [0456] build [0456] again the [4633] tabernacle of [1138] David, [3588] which is [4098] fallen down; and I will [0456] build [0456] again the [2679] ruins [0846] thereof, and I will [0461] set it up:
15:17 That the [2645] residue of [0444] men might [1567] seek [1567] after the [2962] Lord, and [3956] all the [1484] Gentiles, upon [3739] whom my [3686] name is [1941] called, [3004] saith the [2962] Lord, [3588] who [4160] doeth [3956] all [5023] these things.
15:18 [1110] Known unto [2316] God are [3956] all his [2041] works from the beginning of the [0165] world.
15:19 [1352] Wherefore my [2919] sentence is, that we [3926] trouble not them, [3588] which from [0575] among the [1484] Gentiles are [1994] turned to [2316] God:
15:20 But that we [1989] write unto them, that they [0567] abstain from [0234] pollutions of [1497] idols, and from [4202] fornication, and from things [4156] strangled, and from [0129] blood.
15:21 For [3475] Moses of [0744] old [1074] time [2192] hath in [2596] every [4172] city them that [2784] preach him, being [0314] read in the [4864] synagogues [3956] every [4521] sabbath day.
15:22 [5119] Then [1380] pleased it the [0652] apostles and [4245] elders with the [3650] whole [1577] church, to [3992] send [1586] chosen [0435] men of their own company to [0490] Antioch with [3972] Paul and [0921] Barnabas; namely, [2455] Judas [1941] surnamed [0923] Barsabas and [4609] Silas, [2233] chief [0435] men [1722] among the [0080] brethren:
15:23 And they [1125] wrote letters by them after [3592] this [3592] manner; The [0652] apostles and [4245] elders and [0080] brethren send [5463] greeting unto the [0080] brethren [3588] which are of the [1484] Gentiles in [0490] Antioch and [4947] Syria and [2791] Cilicia.
15:24 [1894] Forasmuch as we have [0191] heard, that [5100] certain which [1831] went out from us have [5015] troubled you with [3056] words, [0384] subverting [5216] your [5590] souls, [3004] saying, Ye must be [4059] circumcised, and [5083] keep the [3551] law: to [3739] whom we [1291] gave [3756] no such [1291] commandment:
15:25 It [1380] seemed good unto us, being [1096] assembled with [3661] one [3661] accord, to [3992] send [1586] chosen [0435] men unto you with our [0027] beloved [0921] Barnabas and [3972] Paul,
15:26 [0444] Men that have [3860] hazarded their [5590] lives for the [3686] name of our [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ.
15:27 We have [0649] sent [3767] therefore [2455] Judas and [4609] Silas, [0846] who shall [2532] also [0518] tell you the [0846] same things by [3056] mouth.
15:28 For it [1380] seemed good to the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, and to us, to [2007] lay upon you [3367] no [4119] greater [0922] burden [4133] than [5130] these [1876] necessary things;
15:29 That ye [0567] abstain from meats [1494] offered to [1494] idols, and from [0129] blood, and from things [4156] strangled, and from [4202] fornication: from [3739] which if ye [1301] keep [1438] yourselves, ye shall [4238] do [2095] well. [4517] Fare ye [2095] well.
15:30 [3767] So when they were [0630] dismissed, they [2064] came to [0490] Antioch: and when they had [4863] gathered the [4128] multitude [4863] together, they [1929] delivered the [1992] epistle:
15:31 Which when they had [0314] read, they [5463] rejoiced for the [3874] consolation.
15:32 And [2455] Judas and [4609] Silas, [5607] being [4396] prophets [2532] also [0846] themselves, [3870] exhorted the [0080] brethren with [4183] many [3056] words, and [1991] confirmed them.
15:33 And after they had [4160] tarried there a [5550] space, they were [0630] let [0630] go in [1515] peace from the [0080] brethren unto the apostles.
15:34 Notwithstanding it [1380] pleased [4609] Silas to [1961] abide [0847] there still.
15:35 [3972] Paul [1161] also and [0921] Barnabas [1304] continued in [0490] Antioch, [1321] teaching and [2097] preaching the [3056] word of the [2962] Lord, with [4183] many [2087] others [2532] also.
15:36 And [5100] some [2250] days [3326] after [3972] Paul [2036] said unto [0921] Barnabas, Let us [1994] go [1994] again and [1980] visit our [0080] brethren in [3956] every [4172] city [3739] where we have [2605] preached the [3056] word of the [2962] Lord, and see [4459] how they [2192] do.
15:37 And [0921] Barnabas [1011] determined to [4838] take with them [2491] John, [3588] whose [2564] surname was [3138] Mark.
15:38 But [3972] Paul thought not [0515] good to [4838] take him with them, [3588] who [0868] departed from them from [3828] Pamphylia, and [4905] went not with them to the [2041] work.
15:39 And the [3948] contention was [5620] so sharp between them, that they [0673] departed [0673] asunder [0240] one from the [0240] other: and [5037] so [0921] Barnabas [3880] took [3138] Mark, and [1602] sailed unto [2954] Cyprus;
15:40 And [3972] Paul [1951] chose [4609] Silas, and [1831] departed, being [3860] recommended by the [0080] brethren unto the [5485] grace of [2316] God.
15:41 And he [1330] went [1330] through [4947] Syria and [2791] Cilicia, [1991] confirming the [1577] churches.
16:1 [1161] Then [2658] came he to [1191] Derbe and [3082] Lystra: and, [2400] behold, a [5100] certain [3101] disciple was [1563] there, [3686] named [5095] Timotheus, the [5207] son of a [5100] certain [1135] woman, which was a [2453] Jewess, and [4103] believed; but his [3962] father was a [1672] Greek:
16:2 [3739] Which was [3140] well [3140] reported of by the [0080] brethren that were [1722] at [3082] Lystra and [2430] Iconium.
16:3 Him [2309] would [3972] Paul have to [1831] go [1831] forth with him; and [2983] took and [4059] circumcised him [1223] because of the [2453] Jews [3588] which were in [1565] those [5117] quarters: for they [1492] knew [0537] all that his [3962] father [5225] was a [1672] Greek.
16:4 And as they [1279] went [1279] through the [4172] cities, they [3860] delivered them the [1378] decrees for to [5442] keep, that were [2919] ordained of the [0652] apostles and [4245] elders [3588] which were [1722] at [2419] Jerusalem.
16:5 And [3767] so were the [1577] churches [4732] established in the [4102] faith, and [4052] increased in [0706] number [2250] daily.
16:6 [1161] Now when they had [1330] gone [1330] throughout [5435] Phrygia and the [5561] region of [1054] Galatia, and were [2967] forbidden of the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost to [2980] preach the [3056] word in [0773] Asia,
16:7 After they were [2064] come to [3465] Mysia, they [3985] assayed to [4198] go [2596] into [0978] Bithynia: but the [4151] Spirit [1439] suffered them not.
16:8 And they [3928] passing by [3465] Mysia [2597] came [2597] down to [5174] Troas.
16:9 And a [3705] vision [3700] appeared to [3972] Paul in the [3571] night; There [2476] stood a [0435] man of [3110] Macedonia, and [3870] prayed him, [3004] saying, [1224] Come [1224] over [1519] into [3109] Macedonia, and [0997] help us.
16:10 And [5613] after he had [1492] seen the [3705] vision, [2112] immediately we [2212] endeavoured to [1831] go [1519] into [3109] Macedonia, [4822] assuredly [4822] gathering that the [2962] Lord had [4341] called us for to [2097] preach the [2097] gospel unto them.
16:11 [3767] Therefore [0321] loosing from [5174] Troas, we [2113] came with a [2113] straight [2113] course to [4543] Samothracia, and the [1966] next day to [3496] Neapolis;
16:12 And from [1564] thence to [5375] Philippi, [3748] which is the [4413] chief [4172] city of that [3313] part of [3109] Macedonia, and a [2862] colony: and we were in that [4172] city [1304] abiding [5100] certain [2250] days.
16:13 And on the [4521] sabbath we [1831] went out of the [4172] city by a [4215] river [4215] side, where [4335] prayer was [3543] wont to be [1511] made; and we [2523] sat [2523] down, and [2980] spake unto the [1135] women which [4905] resorted thither.
16:14 And a [5100] certain [1135] woman [3686] named [3070] Lydia, a [4211] seller of [4211] purple, of the [4172] city of [2363] Thyatira, which [4576] worshipped [2316] God, [0191] heard us: [3739] whose [2588] heart the [2962] Lord [1272] opened, that she [4337] attended unto the things which were [2980] spoken of [3972] Paul.
16:15 And [5613] when she was [0907] baptized, and her [3624] household, she [3870] besought us, [3004] saying, [1487] If ye have [2919] judged me to be [4103] faithful to the [2962] Lord, [1525] come [1519] into my [3624] house, and [3306] abide there. And she [3849] constrained us.
16:16 And it [1096] came to pass, as we [4198] went to [4335] prayer, a [5100] certain [3814] damsel [2192] possessed with a [4151] spirit of [4436] divination [0528] met us, [3748] which [3930] brought her [2962] masters [4183] much [2039] gain by [3132] soothsaying:
16:17 The [3778] same [2628] followed [3972] Paul and us, and [2896] cried, [3004] saying, [3778] These [0444] men are the [1401] servants of the [5310] most [5310] high [2316] God, [3748] which [2605] shew unto us the [3598] way of [4991] salvation.
16:18 And [5124] this [4160] did she [4183] many [2250] days. But [3972] Paul, being [1278] grieved, [1994] turned and [2036] said to the [4151] spirit, I [3853] command thee in the [3686] name of [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ to [1831] come out of her. And he [1831] came out the [0846] same [5610] hour.
16:19 And when her [2962] masters [1492] saw that the [1680] hope of their [2039] gains was [1831] gone, they [1949] caught [3972] Paul and [4609] Silas, and [1670] drew them [1519] into the [0058] marketplace unto the [0758] rulers,
16:20 And [4317] brought them to the [4755] magistrates, [2036] saying, [3778] These [0444] men, [5225] being [2453] Jews, do [1613] exceedingly [1613] trouble our [4172] city,
16:21 And [2605] teach [1485] customs, [3739] which are not [1832] lawful for us to [3858] receive, [3761] neither to [4160] observe, being [4514] Romans.
16:22 And the [3793] multitude [4911] rose up [4911] together [2596] against them: and the [4755] magistrates [4048] rent [4048] off their [2440] clothes, and [2753] commanded to [4463] beat them.
16:23 And when they had [2007] laid [4183] many [4127] stripes upon them, they [0906] cast them [1519] into [5438] prison, [3853] charging the [1200] jailor to [5083] keep them [0806] safely:
16:24 [3739] Who, having [2983] received [5108] such a [3852] charge, [0906] thrust them [1519] into the [2082] inner [5438] prison, and [0805] made their [4228] feet [0805] fast in the [3586] stocks.
16:25 And [2596] at [3317] midnight [3972] Paul and [4609] Silas [4336] prayed, and [5214] sang praises unto [2316] God: and the [1198] prisoners [1874] heard them.
16:26 And [0869] suddenly there was a [3173] great [4578] earthquake, [5620] so that the [2310] foundations of the [1201] prison were [4531] shaken: and [3916] immediately [3956] all the [2374] doors were [0455] opened, and [3956] every one's [1199] bands were [0447] loosed.
16:27 And the [1200] keeper of the [1200] prison [1853] awaking out of his [1853] sleep, and [1492] seeing the [5438] prison [2374] doors [0455] open, he [4685] drew out his [3162] sword, and [3195] would have [0337] killed [1438] himself, [3543] supposing that the [1198] prisoners had been [1628] fled.
16:28 But [3972] Paul [5455] cried with a [3173] loud [5456] voice, [3004] saying, [4238] Do [4572] thyself [3367] no [2556] harm: for we are [0537] all [1759] here.
16:29 [1161] Then he [0154] called for a [5457] light, and [1530] sprang in, and [1096] came [1790] trembling, and [4363] fell down [4363] before [3972] Paul and [4609] Silas,
16:30 And [4254] brought them out, and [5346] said, [2962] Sirs, [5101] what [1163] must I [4160] do to be [4982] saved?
16:31 And they [2036] said, [4100] Believe [1909] on the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ, and thou shalt be [4982] saved, and thy [3624] house.
16:32 And they [2980] spake unto him the [3056] word of the [2962] Lord, and to [3956] all that were in his [3614] house.
16:33 And he [3880] took them the [1565] same [5610] hour of the [3571] night, and [3068] washed their [4127] stripes; and was [0907] baptized, he and [3956] all his, [3916] straightway.
16:34 And when he had [0321] brought them [1519] into his [3624] house, he [3908] set [5132] meat [3908] before them, and [0021] rejoiced, [4100] believing in [2316] God with [3832] all his [3832] house.
16:35 And when it was [2250] day, the [4755] magistrates [0649] sent the [4465] serjeants, [3004] saying, [0630] Let [1565] those [0444] men [0630] go.
16:36 And the [1200] keeper of the [1200] prison [0518] told [5128] this [3056] saying to [3972] Paul, The [4755] magistrates have [0649] sent to [0630] let you [0630] go: [3568] now [3767] therefore [1831] depart, and [4198] go in [1515] peace.
16:37 But [3972] Paul [5346] said unto them, They have [1194] beaten us [1219] openly [0178] uncondemned, [5225] being [4514] Romans, and have [0906] cast us [1519] into [5438] prison; and [3568] now do they [1544] thrust us out [2977] privily? [3756] nay [1063] verily; but let them [2064] come [0846] themselves and [1806] fetch us out.
16:38 And the [4465] serjeants [0312] told [5023] these [4487] words unto the [4755] magistrates: and they [5399] feared, when they [0191] heard that they were [4514] Romans.
16:39 And they [2064] came and [3870] besought them, and [1806] brought them out, and [2065] desired them to [1831] depart out of the [4172] city.
16:40 And they [1831] went out of the [5438] prison, and [1525] entered [1519] into the house of [3070] Lydia: and when they had [1492] seen the [0080] brethren, they [3870] comforted them, and [1831] departed.
17:1 [1161] Now when they had [1353] passed [1353] through [0295] Amphipolis and [0624] Apollonia, they [2064] came to [2332] Thessalonica, [3699] where was a [4864] synagogue of the [2453] Jews:
17:2 And [3972] Paul, as his [1485] manner was, [1525] went in unto them, and [5140] three [4521] sabbath days [1256] reasoned with them out of the [1124] scriptures,
17:3 [1272] Opening and [3908] alleging, that [5547] Christ [1163] must needs have [3958] suffered, and [0450] risen [0450] again from the [3498] dead; and that [3778] this [2424] Jesus, [3739] whom I [2605] preach unto you, is [5547] Christ.
17:4 And [5100] some of them [3982] believed, and [4345] consorted with [3972] Paul and [4609] Silas; and of the [4576] devout [1672] Greeks a [4183] great [4128] multitude, and of the [4413] chief [1135] women not a [3641] few.
17:5 But the [2453] Jews which [0544] believed not, [2206] moved with [2206] envy, [4355] took unto them [5100] certain [4190] lewd [0435] fellows of the [0060] baser sort, and [3792] gathered a [3792] company, and [2350] set all the [4172] city on an [2350] uproar, and [2186] assaulted the [3614] house of [2394] Jason, and [2212] sought to [0071] bring them out to the [1218] people.
17:6 And when they [2147] found them not, they [4951] drew [2394] Jason and [5100] certain [0080] brethren unto the [4173] rulers of the [4173] city, [0994] crying, [3778] These that have [0387] turned the [3625] world [0387] upside [0387] down are [3918] come [1759] hither [2532] also;
17:7 [3739] Whom [2394] Jason hath [5264] received: and [3778] these [3956] all [4160] do [0561] contrary to the [1378] decrees of [2541] Caesar, [3004] saying that there is [2087] another [0935] king, one [2424] Jesus.
17:8 And they [5015] troubled the [3793] people and the [4173] rulers of the [4173] city, when they [0191] heard [5023] these things.
17:9 And when they had [2983] taken [2425] security of [2394] Jason, and of the [3062] other, they [0630] let them [0630] go.
17:10 And the [0080] brethren [2112] immediately [1599] sent [1599] away [3972] Paul and [4609] Silas by [3571] night unto [0960] Berea: [3748] who [3854] coming [3854] thither [0549] went [1519] into the [4864] synagogue of the [2453] Jews.
17:11 [3778] These were more [2104] noble than [3588] those in [2332] Thessalonica, in that they [1209] received the [3056] word with [3956] all [4288] readiness of [4288] mind, and [0350] searched the [1124] scriptures [2250] daily, [1487] whether [5023] those things were [3779] so.
17:12 [3767] Therefore [4183] many of them [4100] believed; [2532] also of [2158] honourable [1135] women [3588] which were [1674] Greeks, and of [0435] men, not a [3641] few.
17:13 But [5613] when the [2453] Jews of [2332] Thessalonica had [1097] knowledge that the [3056] word of [2316] God was [2605] preached of [3972] Paul [1722] at [0960] Berea, they [2064] came [1563] thither [2546] also, and [0531] stirred up the [3793] people.
17:14 And [5119] then [2112] immediately the [0080] brethren [1821] sent [1821] away [3972] Paul to [4198] go as it were to the [2281] sea: but [4609] Silas and [5095] Timotheus [5278] abode [1563] there still.
17:15 And they that [2525] conducted [3972] Paul [0071] brought him unto [0116] Athens: and [2983] receiving a [1785] commandment unto [4609] Silas and [5095] Timotheus for to [2064] come to him with [5033] all [5033] speed, they [1826] departed.
17:16 [1161] Now while [3972] Paul [1551] waited for them [1722] at [0116] Athens, his [4151] spirit was [3947] stirred in him, when he [2334] saw the [4172] city wholly given to [2712] idolatry.
17:17 [3767] Therefore [1256] disputed he in the [4864] synagogue with the [2453] Jews, and with the [4576] devout persons, and in the [0058] market [2250] daily with them that [3909] met with him.
17:18 [1161] Then [5100] certain [5386] philosophers of the [1946] Epicureans, and of the [4770] Stoicks, [4820] encountered him. And [5100] some [3004] said, [5101] What [2309] will [3778] this [4691] babbler [3004] say? [1161] other [3588] some, He [1380] seemeth to be a [2604] setter [2604] forth of [3581] strange [1140] gods: [3754] because he [2097] preached unto them [2424] Jesus, and the [0386] resurrection.
17:19 And they [1949] took him, and [0071] brought him unto [0697] Areopagus, [3004] saying, [1410] May we [1097] know [5101] what [3778] this [2537] new [1322] doctrine, whereof thou [2980] speakest, is?
17:20 For thou [1533] bringest [5100] certain [3579] strange things to our [0189] ears: we would [1097] know [3767] therefore [5101] what [5023] these things [1511] mean.
17:21 (For [3956] all the [0117] Athenians and [3581] strangers [3588] which were [1927] there [2119] spent their [2119] time in [3762] nothing [2087] else, but [2228] either to [3004] tell, [2532] or to [0191] hear [5100] some [2537] new thing.)
17:22 [1161] Then [3972] Paul [2476] stood in the [3319] midst of [0697] Mars' [0697] hill, and [5346] said, Ye [0435] men of [0117] Athens, I [2334] perceive that in [3956] all things ye are [1174] too [1174] superstitious.
17:23 For as I [1330] passed by, and [0333] beheld [5216] your [4574] devotions, I [2147] found an [1041] altar with [3739] this [1924] inscription, TO THE [0057] UNKNOWN [2316] GOD. [3739] Whom [3767] therefore ye [0050] ignorantly [2151] worship, him [2605] declare I unto you.
17:24 [2316] God that [4160] made the [2889] world and [3956] all things [0846] therein, seeing that he [5225] is [2962] Lord of [3772] heaven and [1093] earth, [2730] dwelleth not in [3485] temples [5499] made with [5499] hands;
17:25 [3761] Neither is [2323] worshipped with [0444] men's [5495] hands, as though he [4326] needed [5100] any thing, seeing he [1325] giveth to [3956] all [2222] life, and [4157] breath, and [3956] all things;
17:26 And hath [4160] made of [1520] one [0129] blood [3956] all [1484] nations of [0444] men for to [2730] dwell [1909] on [3956] all the [4383] face of the [1093] earth, and hath [3724] determined the [2540] times [4384] before [4384] appointed, and the [3734] bounds of their [2733] habitation;
17:27 That they should [2212] seek the [2962] Lord, [1487] if [0686] haply they might [5584] feel after him, and [2147] find him, [2544] though he [5225] be not [3112] far from [1538] every [1520] one of us:
17:28 For in him we [2198] live, and [2795] move, and have our [2070] being; as [5100] certain [2532] also of [5209] your [2596] own [4163] poets have [2046] said, For we are [2532] also his [1085] offspring.
17:29 Forasmuch [3767] then as we [5225] are the [1085] offspring of [2316] God, we [3784] ought not to [3543] think that the [2304] Godhead is [3664] like unto [5557] gold, [2228] or [0696] silver, [2228] or [3037] stone, [5480] graven by [5078] art and [0444] man's [1761] device.
17:30 And the [5550] times of [3588] this [0052] ignorance [2316] God [5237] winked at; but [3568] now [3853] commandeth [3956] all [0444] men [3837] every [3837] where to [3340] repent:
17:31 [1360] Because he hath [2476] appointed a [2250] day, in the [3739] which he [3195] will [2919] judge the [3625] world in [1343] righteousness by that [0435] man [3739] whom he hath [3724] ordained; whereof he hath [3930] given [4102] assurance unto [3956] all men, in that he hath [0450] raised him from the [3498] dead.
17:32 And when they [0191] heard of the [0386] resurrection of the [3498] dead, some [5512] mocked: and [3588] others [2036] said, We will [0191] hear thee [3825] again of [5127] this matter.
17:33 [3779] So [3972] Paul [1831] departed from [3319] among them.
17:34 Howbeit [5100] certain [0435] men [2853] clave unto him, and [4100] believed: [1722] among the [3739] which was [1354] Dionysius the [0698] Areopagite, and a [1135] woman [3686] named [1152] Damaris, and [2087] others with them.
18:1 [3326] After [5023] these things [3972] Paul [5563] departed from [0116] Athens, and [2064] came to [2882] Corinth;
18:2 And [2147] found a [5100] certain [2453] Jew [3686] named [0207] Aquila, [1085] born in [4195] Pontus, [4373] lately [2064] come from [2482] Italy, with his [1135] wife [4252] Priscilla; ( [1223] because that [2804] Claudius had [1299] commanded [3956] all [2453] Jews to [5563] depart from [4516] Rome:) and [4334] came unto them.
18:3 And [1223] because he was of the [3673] same [3673] craft, he [3306] abode with them, and [2038] wrought: for by their [5078] occupation they were [4635] tentmakers.
18:4 And he [1256] reasoned in the [4864] synagogue [3956] every [4521] sabbath, and [3982] persuaded the [2453] Jews and the [1672] Greeks.
18:5 And [5613] when [4609] Silas and [5095] Timotheus were [2718] come from [3109] Macedonia, [3972] Paul was [4912] pressed in the [4151] spirit, and [1263] testified to the [2453] Jews that [2424] Jesus was [5547] Christ.
18:6 And when they [0498] opposed themselves, and [0987] blasphemed, he [1621] shook his [2440] raiment, and [2036] said unto them, Your [0129] blood be upon your own [2776] heads; I am [2513] clean; from [3568] henceforth I will [4198] go unto the [1484] Gentiles.
18:7 And he [3327] departed [1564] thence, and [2064] entered [1519] into a [5100] certain man's [3614] house, [3686] named [2459] Justus, one that [4576] worshipped [2316] God, [3739] whose [3614] house [4927] joined [4927] hard to the [4864] synagogue.
18:8 And [2921] Crispus, the [0752] chief [0752] ruler of the [0752] synagogue, [4100] believed on the [2962] Lord with [3650] all his [3624] house; and [4183] many of the [2881] Corinthians [0191] hearing [4100] believed, and were [0907] baptized.
18:9 [1161] Then [2036] spake the [2962] Lord to [3972] Paul in the [3571] night by a [3705] vision, Be not [5399] afraid, but [2980] speak, and [4623] hold not thy [4623] peace:
18:10 For I [1510] am with thee, and [3762] no [3762] man shall [2007] set [2007] on thee to [2559] hurt thee: for I [2076] have [4183] much [2992] people in [5026] this [4172] city.
18:11 And he [2523] continued there a [1763] year and [1803] six [3376] months, [1321] teaching the [3056] word of [2316] God [1722] among them.
18:12 And when [1058] Gallio was the [0446] deputy of [0882] Achaia, the [2453] Jews [2721] made [2721] insurrection with [3361] one [3661] accord against [3972] Paul, and [0071] brought him to the [0968] judgment [0968] seat,
18:13 [3004] Saying, [3778] This fellow [0374] persuadeth [0444] men to [4576] worship [2316] God [3844] contrary to the [3551] law.
18:14 And when [3972] Paul was [1161] now [3195] about to [0455] open his [4750] mouth, [1058] Gallio [2036] said unto the [2453] Jews, [1487] If it were a matter of [0092] wrong [2228] or [4190] wicked [4467] lewdness, O ye [2453] Jews, [3056] reason would that I should [0430] bear with you:
18:15 But [1487] if it be a [2213] question of [3056] words and [3686] names, and of [5209] your [3551] law, [3700] look ye to it; for I [1014] will be [3756] no [2923] judge of [5130] such matters.
18:16 And he [0556] drave them from the [0968] judgment [0968] seat.
18:17 [1161] Then [3956] all the [1672] Greeks [1949] took [4988] Sosthenes, the [0752] chief [0752] ruler of the [0752] synagogue, and [5180] beat him [1715] before the [0968] judgment [0968] seat. And [1058] Gallio [3199] cared for [3762] none of [5130] those things.
18:18 And [3972] Paul after this [4357] tarried there [2089] yet a [2425] good [2250] while, and then [0657] took his [0657] leave of the [0080] brethren, and [1602] sailed thence [1519] into [4947] Syria, and with him [4252] Priscilla and [0207] Aquila; having [2751] shorn his [2776] head in [2747] Cenchrea: for he [2192] had a [2171] vow.
18:19 And he [2658] came to [2181] Ephesus, and [2641] left them [0847] there: but he [0846] himself [1525] entered [1519] into the [4864] synagogue, and [1256] reasoned with the [2453] Jews.
18:20 When they [2065] desired him to [3306] tarry [4119] longer [5550] time with them, he [1962] consented not;
18:21 But [0657] bade them [0657] farewell, [2036] saying, I [1163] must by [3843] all [3843] means [4160] keep [3588] this [1859] feast that [2064] cometh in [2414] Jerusalem: but I will [0344] return [3825] again unto you, if [2316] God [2309] will. And he [0321] sailed from [2181] Ephesus.
18:22 And when he had [2718] landed [1519] at [2542] Caesarea, and [0305] gone up, and [0782] saluted the [1577] church, he [2597] went [2597] down to [0490] Antioch.
18:23 And after he had [4160] spent [5100] some [5550] time there, he [1831] departed, and [1330] went [1330] over all the [5561] country of [1054] Galatia and [5435] Phrygia in [2517] order, [1991] strengthening [3956] all the [3101] disciples.
18:24 And a [5100] certain [2453] Jew [3686] named [0625] Apollos, [1085] born at [0221] Alexandria, an [3052] eloquent [0435] man, and [1415] mighty in the [1124] scriptures, [2658] came to [2181] Ephesus.
18:25 [3778] This man was [2727] instructed in the [3598] way of the [2962] Lord; and being [2204] fervent in the [4151] spirit, he [2980] spake and [1321] taught [0199] diligently the things of the [2962] Lord, [1987] knowing [3440] only the [0908] baptism of [2491] John.
18:26 And he [0756] began to speak [3955] boldly in the [4864] synagogue: [0846] whom when [0207] Aquila and [4252] Priscilla had [0191] heard, they [4355] took him unto them, and [1620] expounded unto him the [3598] way of [2316] God [0197] more [0197] perfectly.
18:27 And when he was [1014] disposed to [1330] pass [1519] into [0882] Achaia, the [0080] brethren [1125] wrote, [4389] exhorting the [3101] disciples to [0588] receive him: [3739] who, when he was [3854] come, [4820] helped them [4183] much which had [4100] believed [1223] through [5485] grace:
18:28 For he [2159] mightily [1246] convinced the [2453] Jews, and that [1219] publickly, [1925] shewing by the [1124] scriptures that [2424] Jesus was [5547] Christ.
19:1 And it [1096] came to pass, that, [3588] while [0625] Apollos was [1722] at [2882] Corinth, [3972] Paul having [1330] passed [1330] through the [0510] upper [3313] coasts [2064] came to [2181] Ephesus: and [2147] finding [5100] certain [3101] disciples,
19:2 He [2036] said unto them, Have ye [2983] received the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost since ye [4100] believed? And they [2036] said unto him, We have not [3761] so [3761] much as [0191] heard [1487] whether there be any [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost.
19:3 And he [2036] said unto them, Unto [5101] what [3767] then were ye [0907] baptized? And they [2036] said, Unto [2491] John's [0908] baptism.
19:4 [1161] Then [2036] said [3972] Paul, [2491] John [3303] verily [0907] baptized with the [0908] baptism of [3341] repentance, [3004] saying unto the [2992] people, that they should [4100] believe [1519] on him which should [2064] come [3326] after him, that is, [1519] on [5547] Christ [2424] Jesus.
19:5 When they [0191] heard this, they were [0907] baptized in the [3686] name of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus.
19:6 And when [3972] Paul had [2007] laid his [5495] hands upon them, the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost [2064] came [1909] on them; and they [2980] spake with [1100] tongues, and [4395] prophesied.
19:7 And [3956] all the [0435] men were [5616] about [1177] twelve.
19:8 And he [1525] went [1519] into the [4864] synagogue, and spake [3955] boldly for the [1909] space of [5140] three [3376] months, [1256] disputing and [3982] persuading the things [4012] concerning the [0932] kingdom of [2316] God.
19:9 But [5613] when [5100] divers were [4645] hardened, and [0544] believed not, but [2551] spake evil of that [3598] way [1799] before the [4128] multitude, he [0868] departed from them, and [0873] separated the [3101] disciples, [1256] disputing [2250] daily in the [4981] school of [5100] one [5181] Tyrannus.
19:10 And [5124] this [1096] continued by the [1909] space of [1417] two [2094] years; [5620] so that [3956] all they which [2730] dwelt in [0773] Asia [0191] heard the [3056] word of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus, [5037] both [2453] Jews and [1672] Greeks.
19:11 And [2316] God [4160] wrought [5177] special [1411] miracles by the [5495] hands of [3972] Paul:
19:12 [5620] So that from his [5559] body were [2018] brought unto the [0770] sick [4676] handkerchiefs [2228] or [4612] aprons, and the [3554] diseases [0525] departed from them, and the [4190] evil [4151] spirits [1831] went out of them.
19:13 [1161] Then [5100] certain of the [4022] vagabond [2453] Jews, [1845] exorcists, [2021] took upon them to [3687] call [1909] over them which [2192] had [4190] evil [4151] spirits the [3686] name of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus, [3004] saying, We [3726] adjure you by [2424] Jesus [3739] whom [3972] Paul [2784] preacheth.
19:14 And there were [2033] seven [5207] sons of one [4630] Sceva, a [2453] Jew, and [0749] chief of the [0749] priests, which [4160] did [5124] so.
19:15 And the [4190] evil [4151] spirit [0611] answered and [2036] said, [2424] Jesus I [1097] know, and [3972] Paul I [1987] know; but [5101] who are ye?
19:16 And the [0444] man in [3739] whom the [4190] evil [4151] spirit was [2177] leaped [1909] on them, and [2634] overcame them, and [2480] prevailed [2596] against them, [5620] so that they [1628] fled out of that [3624] house [1131] naked and [5135] wounded.
19:17 And [5124] this was [1110] known to [3956] all the [2453] Jews and [1672] Greeks [2532] also [2730] dwelling at [2181] Ephesus; and [5401] fear [1968] fell [1909] on them [3956] all, and the [3686] name of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus was [3170] magnified.
19:18 And [4183] many that [4100] believed [2064] came, and [1843] confessed, and [0312] shewed their [4234] deeds.
19:19 [2425] Many of them [1161] also which [4238] used [4021] curious [4021] arts [4851] brought their [0976] books [4851] together, and [2618] burned them [1799] before [3956] all men: and they [4860] counted the [5092] price of them, and [2147] found it [4002] fifty [3461] thousand pieces of [0694] silver.
19:20 [3779] So [2904] mightily [0837] grew the [3056] word of [2962] God and [2480] prevailed.
19:21 [5613] After [5023] these things were [4137] ended, [3972] Paul [5087] purposed in the [4151] spirit, when he had [1330] passed [1330] through [3109] Macedonia and [0882] Achaia, to [4198] go to [2419] Jerusalem, [2036] saying, [3326] After I have [1096] been [1563] there, I [1163] must [2532] also [1492] see [4516] Rome.
19:22 So he [0649] sent [1519] into [3109] Macedonia [1417] two of them that [1247] ministered unto him, [5095] Timotheus and [2037] Erastus; but he [0846] himself [1907] stayed in [0773] Asia for a [5550] season.
19:23 And the [1565] same [2540] time there [1096] arose [3756] no [3641] small [5017] stir [4012] about that [3598] way.
19:24 For a [5100] certain man [3686] named [1216] Demetrius, a [0695] silversmith, which [4160] made [0693] silver [3485] shrines for [0735] Diana, [3930] brought [3756] no [3641] small [2039] gain unto the [5079] craftsmen;
19:25 [3739] Whom he [4867] called [4867] together with the [2040] workmen of [5108] like occupation, and [2036] said, [0435] Sirs, ye [1987] know that by [5026] this [2039] craft we [2076] have our [2142] wealth.
19:26 [2532] Moreover ye [2334] see and [0191] hear, that not [3440] alone at [2181] Ephesus, but [4975] almost throughout [3956] all [0773] Asia, [3778] this [3972] Paul hath [3982] persuaded and [3179] turned [3179] away [2425] much [3793] people, [3004] saying that they be [3756] no [2316] gods, [3588] which are [1096] made with [5495] hands:
19:27 So that not [3440] only [5124] this our [3313] craft is in [2793] danger to be [2064] set [1519] at [0557] nought; but [2532] also that the [2411] temple of the [3173] great [2299] goddess [0735] Diana should be [3049] despised, and her [3168] magnificence [3195] should be [2507] destroyed, [3739] whom [3650] all [0773] Asia and the [3625] world [4576] worshippeth.
19:28 And when they [0191] heard these sayings, they were [4134] full of [2372] wrath, and [2896] cried out, [3004] saying, [3173] Great is [0735] Diana of the [2180] Ephesians.
19:29 And the [3650] whole [4172] city was [4130] filled with [4799] confusion: and having [4884] caught [1050] Gaius and [0708] Aristarchus, men of [3110] Macedonia, [3972] Paul's [4898] companions in [4898] travel, they [3729] rushed with [3661] one [3661] accord [1519] into the [2302] theatre.
19:30 And when [3972] Paul would have [1525] entered in unto the [1218] people, the [3101] disciples [1439] suffered him not.
19:31 And [5100] certain of the [0775] chief of [0775] Asia, which were his [5384] friends, [3992] sent unto him, [3870] desiring him that he would not [1325] adventure [1438] himself [1519] into the [2302] theatre.
19:32 [0243] Some [3767] therefore [2896] cried [3303] one thing, and [0243] some [0243] another: for the [1577] assembly was [4797] confused: and the [4119] more part [1492] knew not [1752] wherefore they were [4905] come [4905] together.
19:33 And they [4264] drew [0223] Alexander out of the [3793] multitude, the [2453] Jews [4261] putting him [4261] forward. And [0223] Alexander [2678] beckoned with the [5495] hand, and [2309] would have [0626] made his [0626] defence unto the [1218] people.
19:34 But when they [1921] knew that he was a [2453] Jew, [3956] all with [3391] one [5456] voice [5613] about the [1909] space of [1417] two [5610] hours [2896] cried out, [3173] Great is [0735] Diana of the [2180] Ephesians.
19:35 And when the [1122] townclerk had [2687] appeased the [3793] people, he [5346] said, Ye [0435] men of [2181] Ephesus, [5101] what [0444] man is there that [1097] knoweth not how that the [4172] city of the [2180] Ephesians is a [3511] worshipper of the [3173] great [2299] goddess [0735] Diana, and of the image which [1356] fell down from [1356] Jupiter?
19:36 Seeing [3767] then that [5130] these things [0368] cannot [0368] be [0368] spoken [0368] against, ye [1163] ought to [5225] be [2687] quiet, and to [4160] do [3367] nothing [4312] rashly.
19:37 For ye have [0071] brought hither [5128] these [0435] men, which are [3777] neither [2417] robbers of [2417] churches, [3777] nor yet [0987] blasphemers of [5216] your [2299] goddess.
19:38 [3767] Wherefore [1487] if [1216] Demetrius, and the [5079] craftsmen which are with him, [2192] have a [3056] matter [4314] against [5100] any man, the [0060] law is [0071] open, and there are [0446] deputies: let them [1458] implead [0240] one [0240] another.
19:39 But [1487] if ye [1934] enquire [5100] any thing [4012] concerning [2087] other matters, it shall be [1956] determined in a [1772] lawful [1577] assembly.
19:40 For we are in [2793] danger to be [1458] called in [1458] question for [4594] this [4594] day's [4714] uproar, there [5225] being [3367] no [0158] cause [3757] whereby we [1410] may [0591] give an [3056] account of [5026] this [4963] concourse.
19:41 And when he had [5023] thus [2036] spoken, he [0630] dismissed the [1577] assembly.
20:1 And [3326] after the [2351] uproar was [3973] ceased, [3972] Paul [4341] called unto him the [3101] disciples, and [0782] embraced them, and [1831] departed for to [4198] go [1519] into [3109] Macedonia.
20:2 And when he had [1330] gone [1330] over [1565] those [3313] parts, and had given them [4183] much [3870] exhortation, he [2064] came [1519] into [1671] Greece,
20:3 And there [4160] abode [5140] three [3376] months. And when the [2453] Jews [1096] laid [1917] wait for him, as he was [3195] about to [0321] sail [1519] into [4947] Syria, he [1106] purposed to [5290] return [1223] through [3109] Macedonia.
20:4 And there [4902] accompanied him into [0773] Asia [4986] Sopater of [0960] Berea; and of the [2331] Thessalonians, [0708] Aristarchus and [4580] Secundus; and [1050] Gaius of [1191] Derbe, and [5095] Timotheus; and of [0773] Asia, [5190] Tychicus and [5161] Trophimus.
20:5 [3778] These [4281] going [4281] before [3306] tarried for us [1722] at [5174] Troas.
20:6 And we [1602] sailed [1602] away from [5375] Philippi [3326] after the [2250] days of [0106] unleavened bread, and [2064] came unto them to [5174] Troas in [4002] five [2250] days; [3757] where we [1304] abode [2033] seven [2250] days.
20:7 And upon the [3391] first day of the [4521] week, when the [3101] disciples [4863] came [4863] together to [2806] break [0740] bread, [3972] Paul [1256] preached unto them, [3195] ready to [1826] depart on the [1887] morrow; and [3905] continued his [3056] speech [3360] until [3317] midnight.
20:8 And there were [2425] many [2985] lights in the [5253] upper [5253] chamber, [3757] where they were [4863] gathered [4863] together.
20:9 And there [2521] sat in a [2376] window a [5100] certain [3494] young [3494] man [3686] named [2161] Eutychus, being [2702] fallen into a [0901] deep [5258] sleep: and as [3972] Paul was [4119] long [1256] preaching, he [2702] sunk [2736] down with [5258] sleep, and [4098] fell down from the [5152] third [5152] loft, and was [0142] taken up [3498] dead.
20:10 And [3972] Paul [2597] went [2597] down, and [1968] fell [1968] on him, and [4843] embracing him [2036] said, [2350] Trouble not yourselves; for his [5590] life is in him.
20:11 When he [3767] therefore was [0305] come up again, and had [2806] broken [0740] bread, and [1089] eaten, and [3656] talked a [2425] long while, even [0891] till [0827] break of [0827] day, [3779] so he [1831] departed.
20:12 And they [0071] brought the [3816] young man [2198] alive, and were not a [3357] little [3870] comforted.
20:13 And we [4281] went [4281] before to [4143] ship, and [0321] sailed unto [0789] Assos, [1564] there [3195] intending to [0353] take in [3972] Paul: for [3779] so had he [1299] appointed, [3195] minding [0846] himself to go [3978] afoot.
20:14 And [5613] when he [4820] met with us [1519] at [0789] Assos, we [0353] took him in, and [2064] came to [3412] Mitylene.
20:15 And we [0636] sailed [1564] thence, and [2064] came the [1966] next day [0481] over [0481] against [5508] Chios; and the [2087] next day we [3846] arrived [1519] at [4544] Samos, and [3306] tarried [1722] at [5175] Trogyllium; and the [2192] next day we [2658] came to [3399] Miletus.
20:16 For [3972] Paul had [2919] determined to [3896] sail by [2181] Ephesus, [3704] because he [1096] would not [5551] spend the [5551] time in [0773] Asia: for he [4692] hasted, [1487] if it were [1415] possible for him, to be [1519] at [2414] Jerusalem the [2250] day of [4005] Pentecost.
20:17 And from [3399] Miletus he [3992] sent to [2181] Ephesus, and [3333] called the [4245] elders of the [1577] church.
20:18 And [5613] when they were [3854] come to him, he [2036] said unto them, Ye [1987] know, from the [4413] first [2250] day that I [1910] came [1519] into [0773] Asia, [4459] after [4459] what [4459] manner I have [1096] been with you at [3956] all [5550] seasons,
20:19 [1398] Serving the [2962] Lord with [3956] all [5012] humility of mind, and with [4183] many [1144] tears, and [3986] temptations, [3588] which [4819] befell me by the lying in [1917] wait of the [2453] Jews:
20:20 And [5613] how I [5288] kept [5288] back [3762] nothing that was [4851] profitable unto you, but have [0312] shewed you, and have [1321] taught you [1219] publickly, and from [3624] house to [3624] house,
20:21 [1263] Testifying [5037] both to the [2453] Jews, and [2532] also to the [1672] Greeks, [3341] repentance [1519] toward [2316] God, and [4102] faith [1519] toward our [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ.
20:22 And [3568] now, [2400] behold, I [4198] go [1210] bound in the [4151] spirit unto [2419] Jerusalem, not [1492] knowing the things that shall [4876] befall me [0846] there:
20:23 [4133] Save that the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost [1263] witnesseth in [2596] every [4172] city, [3004] saying that [1199] bonds and [2347] afflictions [3306] abide me.
20:24 But [3762] none of these [3056] things [4160] move me, [3761] neither [2192] count I my [5590] life [5093] dear unto [1683] myself, [5613] so that I might [5048] finish my [1408] course with [5479] joy, and the [1248] ministry, [3739] which I have [2983] received of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus, to [1263] testify the [2098] gospel of the [5485] grace of [2316] God.
20:25 And [3568] now, [2400] behold, I [1492] know that ye [3956] all, [1722] among [3739] whom I have [1330] gone [2784] preaching the [0932] kingdom of [2316] God, shall [3700] see my [4383] face [3765] no [3765] more.
20:26 [1352] Wherefore I take you to [3143] record [4594] this [4594] day, that I am [2513] pure from the [0129] blood of [3956] all men.
20:27 For I have not [5288] shunned to [0312] declare unto you [3956] all the [1012] counsel of [2316] God.
20:28 Take [4337] heed therefore unto [1438] yourselves, and to [3956] all the [4168] flock, [1722] over the [3739] which the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost hath [5087] made you [1985] overseers, to [4165] feed the [1577] church of [2316] God, [3739] which he hath [4046] purchased with his [2398] own [0129] blood.
20:29 For I [1492] know [5124] this, that [3326] after my [0867] departing shall [0926] grievous [3074] wolves [1525] enter in [1519] among you, not [5339] sparing the [4168] flock.
20:30 [2532] Also of [5216] your own [0846] selves shall [0435] men [0450] arise, [2980] speaking [1294] perverse things, to [0645] draw [0645] away [3101] disciples [3694] after them.
20:31 [1352] Therefore [1127] watch, and [3421] remember, that by the [4158] space of [5148] three [5148] years I [3973] ceased not to [3560] warn [1538] every [1520] one [3571] night and [2250] day with [1144] tears.
20:32 And [3568] now, [0080] brethren, I [3908] commend you to [2316] God, and to the [3056] word of his [5485] grace, [3588] which is [1410] able to [2026] build you up, and to [1325] give you an [2817] inheritance [1722] among [3956] all them which are [0037] sanctified.
20:33 I have [1937] coveted [3762] no [3762] man's [0694] silver, [2228] or [5553] gold, [2228] or [2441] apparel.
20:34 [1161] Yea, ye [0846] yourselves [1097] know, that [3778] these [5495] hands have [5256] ministered unto my [5532] necessities, and to them that were with me.
20:35 I have [5263] shewed you [3956] all things, how that [3779] so [2872] labouring ye [1163] ought to [0482] support the [0770] weak, and to [3421] remember the [3056] words of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus, [3754] how he [2036] said, It is [3122] more [3107] blessed to [1325] give than to [2983] receive.
20:36 And when he had [5023] thus [2036] spoken, he [1119] kneeled down, and [4336] prayed with them [3956] all.
20:37 And they [3956] all [2805] wept [2425] sore, and [1968] fell [1909] on [3972] Paul's [5137] neck, and [2705] kissed him,
20:38 [3600] Sorrowing [3122] most of [3122] all for the [3056] words [3739] which he [2046] spake, that they [3195] should [2334] see his [4383] face [3765] no [3765] more. And they [4311] accompanied him unto the [4143] ship.
21:1 And it [1096] came to pass, that [5613] after we were [0645] gotten from them, and had [0321] launched, we [2064] came with a [2113] straight [2113] course unto [2972] Coos, and the day [1836] following unto [4499] Rhodes, and from [1564] thence unto [3959] Patara:
21:2 And [2147] finding a [4143] ship [1276] sailing [1276] over unto [5403] Phenicia, we [1910] went [1910] aboard, and [0321] set [0321] forth.
21:3 [1161] Now when we had [0398] discovered [2954] Cyprus, we [2641] left it on the [2176] left hand, and [4126] sailed [1519] into [4947] Syria, and [2609] landed [1519] at [5184] Tyre: for [1566] there the [4143] ship was to [0670] unlade her [1117] burden.
21:4 And [0429] finding [3101] disciples, we [1961] tarried [0847] there [2033] seven [2250] days: [3748] who [3004] said to [3972] Paul [1223] through the [4151] Spirit, that he should not [0305] go up to [2419] Jerusalem.
21:5 And [3753] when we had [1822] accomplished those [2250] days, we [1831] departed and [4198] went [4198] our [4198] way; and they [3956] all [4311] brought us on our way, with [1135] wives and [5043] children, [2193] till we were out of the [4172] city: and we [1119] kneeled down [1909] on the [0123] shore, and [4336] prayed.
21:6 And when we had [0782] taken our [0782] leave [0240] one of [0240] another, we [1519] took [4143] ship; and they [5290] returned [2398] home [5290] again.
21:7 And when we had [1274] finished our [4144] course from [5184] Tyre, we [2658] came to [4424] Ptolemais, and [0782] saluted the [0080] brethren, and [3306] abode with them [3391] one [2250] day.
21:8 And the [1887] next day we that were of [3972] Paul's [4012] company [1831] departed, and [2064] came unto [2542] Caesarea: and we [1525] entered [1519] into the [3624] house of [5376] Philip the [2099] evangelist, which was one of the [2033] seven; and [3306] abode with him.
21:9 And the [5129] same man had [5064] four [2364] daughters, [3933] virgins, which did [4395] prophesy.
21:10 And as we [1961] tarried there [4119] many [2250] days, there [2718] came [2718] down from [2449] Judaea a [5100] certain [4396] prophet, [3686] named [0013] Agabus.
21:11 And when he was [2064] come unto us, he [0142] took [3972] Paul's [2223] girdle, and [1210] bound his [0848] own [5495] hands and [4228] feet, and [2036] said, [3592] Thus [3004] saith the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost, [3779] So shall the [2453] Jews [1722] at [2419] Jerusalem [1210] bind the [0435] man that [2076] owneth [3778] this [2223] girdle, and shall [3860] deliver him [1519] into the [5495] hands of the [1484] Gentiles.
21:12 And [5613] when we [0191] heard [5023] these things, [5037] both we, and they of that [1786] place, [3870] besought him not to [0305] go up to [2419] Jerusalem.
21:13 [1161] Then [3972] Paul [0611] answered, [5101] What [4160] mean ye to [2799] weep and to [4919] break [3450] mine [2588] heart? for I am [2093] ready not to be [1210] bound [3440] only, but [2532] also to [0599] die [1519] at [2419] Jerusalem for the [3686] name of the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus.
21:14 And when he would not be [3982] persuaded, we [2270] ceased, [2036] saying, The [2307] will of the [2962] Lord be [1096] done.
21:15 And [3326] after [5025] those [2250] days we [0643] took up our [0643] carriages, and [0305] went up to [2419] Jerusalem.
21:16 There [4905] went with us [2532] also certain of the [3101] disciples of [2542] Caesarea, and [0071] brought with them [5100] one [3416] Mnason of [2954] Cyprus, an [0744] old [3101] disciple, with [3739] whom we should [3579] lodge.
21:17 And when we were [1096] come to [2414] Jerusalem, the [0080] brethren [1209] received us [0780] gladly.
21:18 And the day [1966] following [3972] Paul [1524] went in with us unto [2385] James; and [3956] all the [4245] elders were [3854] present.
21:19 And when he had [0782] saluted them, he [1834] declared [2596] particularly [3739] what things [2316] God had [4160] wrought [1722] among the [1484] Gentiles by his [1248] ministry.
21:20 And when they [0191] heard it, they [1392] glorified the [2962] Lord, and [2036] said unto him, Thou [2334] seest, [0080] brother, [4214] how [4214] many [3461] thousands of [2453] Jews there are [3588] which [4100] believe; and they [5225] are [3956] all [2207] zealous of the [3551] law:
21:21 And they are [2727] informed of thee, that thou [1321] teachest [3956] all the [2453] Jews which are [2596] among the [1484] Gentiles to [0646] forsake [3475] Moses, [3004] saying that they ought not to [4059] circumcise their [5043] children, [3366] neither to [4043] walk after the [1485] customs.
21:22 [5101] What is it [3767] therefore? the [4128] multitude [1163] must [3843] needs [4905] come [4905] together: for they will [0191] hear that thou art [2064] come.
21:23 [4160] Do [3767] therefore [5124] this that we [3004] say to thee: We [1526] have [5064] four [0435] men which [2192] have a [2171] vow [1909] on them;
21:24 Them [3880] take, and [0048] purify thyself with them, and be [1159] at [1159] charges with them, that they may [3587] shave their [2776] heads: and [3956] all may [1097] know that those things, whereof they were [2727] informed [4012] concerning thee, are [3762] nothing; but that thou [0846] thyself [2532] also [4748] walkest [4748] orderly, and [5442] keepest the [3551] law.
21:25 As [4012] touching the [1484] Gentiles which [4100] believe, we have [1989] written and [2919] concluded that they [5083] observe [3367] no [5108] such thing, [1508] save only that they [5442] keep themselves from things [1494] offered to [1494] idols, and from [0129] blood, and from [4156] strangled, and from [4202] fornication.
21:26 [5119] Then [3972] Paul [3880] took the [0435] men, and the [2192] next [2250] day [0048] purifying himself with them [1524] entered [1519] into the [2411] temple, to [1229] signify the [1604] accomplishment of the [2250] days of [0049] purification, [2193] until that an [4376] offering should be [4374] offered for [1538] every [1520] one of them.
21:27 And [5613] when the [2033] seven [2250] days were [3195] almost [4931] ended, the [2453] Jews which were of [0773] Asia, when they [2300] saw him in the [2411] temple, [4797] stirred up [3956] all the [3793] people, and [1911] laid [5495] hands [1909] on him,
21:28 [2896] Crying out, [0435] Men of [2475] Israel, [0997] help: [3778] This is the [0444] man, that [1321] teacheth [3956] all men [3837] every [3837] where [2596] against the [2992] people, and the [3551] law, and [5126] this [5117] place: and [2089] further [1521] brought [1672] Greeks [2532] also [1519] into the [2411] temple, and hath [2840] polluted [5127] this [0040] holy [5117] place.
21:29 (For they had [4308] seen [4308] before with him in the [4172] city [5161] Trophimus an [2180] Ephesian, [3739] whom they [3543] supposed that [3972] Paul had [1521] brought [1519] into the [2411] temple.)
21:30 And [3650] all the [4172] city was [2795] moved, and the [2992] people [4890] ran [4890] together: and they [1949] took [3972] Paul, and [1670] drew him out of the [2411] temple: and [2112] forthwith the [2374] doors were [2808] shut.
21:31 And as they [2212] went [2212] about to [0615] kill him, [5334] tidings [0305] came unto the [5506] chief [5506] captain of the [4686] band, that [3650] all [2419] Jerusalem was in an [4797] uproar.
21:32 [3739] Who [1824] immediately [3880] took [4757] soldiers and [1543] centurions, and [2701] ran [2701] down unto them: and when they [1492] saw the [5506] chief [5506] captain and the [4757] soldiers, they [3973] left [5180] beating of [3972] Paul.
21:33 [5119] Then the [5506] chief [5506] captain [1448] came [1448] near, and [1949] took him, and [2753] commanded him to be [1210] bound with [1417] two [0254] chains; and [4441] demanded [5101] who he was, and [5101] what he had [4160] done.
21:34 And [0243] some [0994] cried one thing, [0243] some [0243] another, [1722] among the [3793] multitude: and when he [1410] could not [1097] know the [0804] certainty for the [2351] tumult, he [2753] commanded him to be [0071] carried [1519] into the [3925] castle.
21:35 And [3753] when he [1096] came upon the [0304] stairs, [4819] so it was, that he was [0941] borne of the [4757] soldiers for the [0970] violence of the [3793] people.
21:36 For the [4128] multitude of the [2992] people [0190] followed after, [2896] crying, [0142] Away with him.
21:37 And as [3972] Paul was to be [1521] led [1519] into the [3925] castle, he [3004] said unto the [5506] chief [5506] captain, [1832] May I [2036] speak unto thee? [3588] Who [5346] said, [1097] Canst thou [1097] speak [1676] Greek?
21:38 [1488] Art not thou that [0124] Egyptian, which [4253] before [5130] these [2250] days [0387] madest [0387] an [0387] uproar, and [1806] leddest out [1519] into the [2048] wilderness [5070] four [5070] thousand [0435] men that were [4607] murderers?
21:39 But [3972] Paul [2036] said, I [1510] am a [0444] man which am a [2453] Jew of [5018] Tarsus, a city in [2791] Cilicia, a [4177] citizen of [3756] no [0767] mean [4172] city: and, I [1189] beseech thee, [2010] suffer me to [2980] speak unto the [2992] people.
21:40 And when he had given him [2010] licence, [3972] Paul [2476] stood [1909] on the [0304] stairs, and [2678] beckoned with the [5495] hand unto the [2992] people. And when there was [1096] made a [4183] great [4602] silence, he [4377] spake unto them in the [1446] Hebrew [1258] tongue, [3004] saying,
22:1 [0435] Men, [0080] brethren, and [3962] fathers, [0191] hear ye my [0627] defence which I make [3568] now unto you.
22:2 (And when they [0191] heard that he [4377] spake in the [1446] Hebrew [1258] tongue to them, they [3930] kept the [3123] more [2271] silence: and he [5346] saith,)
22:3 I [1510] am [3303] verily a [0435] man which am a [2453] Jew, [1080] born in [5019] Tarsus, a city in [2791] Cilicia, yet [0397] brought up in [5026] this [4172] city [3844] at the [4228] feet of [1059] Gamaliel, and [3811] taught [2596] according to the [0195] perfect [0195] manner of the [3551] law of the [3971] fathers, and [5225] was [2207] zealous toward [2316] God, as ye [3956] all are [4594] this [4594] day.
22:4 And I [1377] persecuted [5026] this [3598] way unto the [2288] death, [1195] binding and [3860] delivering [1519] into [5438] prisons [5037] both [0435] men and [1135] women.
22:5 As [2532] also the [0749] high [0749] priest doth [3140] bear me [3140] witness, and [3956] all the estate of the [4244] elders: from [3739] whom [2532] also I [1209] received [1992] letters unto the [0080] brethren, and [4198] went to [1154] Damascus, to [0071] bring them which were [1566] there [1210] bound unto [2419] Jerusalem, for to be [5097] punished.
22:6 And it [1096] came to pass, that, as I [4198] made my [4198] journey, and was [1448] come [1448] nigh unto [1154] Damascus [4012] about [3314] noon, [1810] suddenly there [4015] shone from [3772] heaven a [2425] great [5457] light [4015] round [4012] about me.
22:7 And I [4098] fell unto the [1475] ground, and [0191] heard a [5456] voice [3004] saying unto me, [4569] Saul, [4569] Saul, [5101] why [1377] persecutest thou me?
22:8 And I [0611] answered, [5101] Who [1488] art thou, [2962] Lord? And he [2036] said unto me, I [1510] am [2424] Jesus of [3478] Nazareth, [3739] whom thou [1377] persecutest.
22:9 And they that were with me [2300] saw [3303] indeed the [5457] light, and were [1719] afraid; but they [0191] heard not the [5456] voice of him that [2980] spake to me.
22:10 And I [2036] said, [5101] What shall I [4160] do, [2962] Lord? And the [2962] Lord [2036] said unto me, [0450] Arise, and [4198] go [1519] into [1154] Damascus; and [1563] there it shall be [2980] told thee of [3956] all things [3739] which are [5021] appointed for thee to [4160] do.
22:11 And [5613] when I could not [1689] see for the [1391] glory of that [5457] light, being [5496] led by the [5496] hand of them that were with me, I [2064] came [1519] into [1154] Damascus.
22:12 And [5100] one [0367] Ananias, a [2152] devout [0435] man [2596] according to the [3551] law, having a good [3140] report of [3956] all the [2453] Jews which [2730] dwelt there,
22:13 [2064] Came unto me, and [2186] stood, and [2036] said unto me, [0080] Brother [4569] Saul, [0308] receive thy [0308] sight. And the [0846] same [5610] hour I [0308] looked up upon him.
22:14 And he [2036] said, The [2316] God of our [3962] fathers hath [4400] chosen thee, that thou shouldest [1097] know his [2307] will, and [1492] see that [1342] Just One, and shouldest [0191] hear the [5456] voice of his [4750] mouth.
22:15 For thou shalt be his [3144] witness unto [3956] all [0444] men of [3739] what thou hast [3708] seen and [0191] heard.
22:16 And [3568] now [5101] why [3195] tarriest thou? [0450] arise, and be [0907] baptized, and [0628] wash [0628] away thy [0266] sins, [1941] calling [1941] on the [3686] name of the [2962] Lord.
22:17 And it [1096] came to pass, that, when I was [5290] come [5290] again to [2419] Jerusalem, even while I [4336] prayed in the [2411] temple, I was in a [1611] trance;
22:18 And [1492] saw him [3004] saying unto me, [4692] Make [4692] haste, and [1831] get thee [5034] quickly out of [2419] Jerusalem: for they will not [3858] receive thy [3141] testimony [4012] concerning me.
22:19 And I [2036] said, [2962] Lord, they [1987] know that I [5439] imprisoned and [1194] beat in [2596] every [4864] synagogue them that [4100] believed [1909] on thee:
22:20 And [3753] when the [0129] blood of thy [3144] martyr [4736] Stephen was [1632] shed, I [2532] also was [2186] standing by, and [4909] consenting unto his [0336] death, and [5442] kept the [2440] raiment of them that [0337] slew him.
22:21 And he [2036] said unto me, [4198] Depart: for I will [1821] send thee [3112] far [3112] hence unto the [1484] Gentiles.
22:22 And they gave him [0191] audience unto [5127] this [3056] word, and then [1869] lifted up their [5456] voices, and [3004] said, [0142] Away with [5108] such a fellow from the [1093] earth: for it is not [2520] fit that he should [2198] live.
22:23 And as they [2905] cried out, and [4496] cast [4496] off their [2440] clothes, and [0906] threw [2868] dust [1519] into the [0109] air,
22:24 The [5506] chief [5506] captain [2753] commanded him to be [0071] brought [1519] into the [3925] castle, and [2036] bade that he should be [0426] examined by [3148] scourging; that he might [1921] know [3739] wherefore they [2019] cried [3779] so [2019] against him.
22:25 And as they [4385] bound him with [2438] thongs, [3972] Paul [2036] said unto the [1543] centurion that [2476] stood by, Is it [1832] lawful for you to [3147] scourge a [0444] man that is a [4514] Roman, and [0178] uncondemned?
22:26 When the [1543] centurion [0191] heard that, he [4334] went and [0518] told the [5506] chief [5506] captain, [3004] saying, Take [3708] heed [5101] what thou [4160] doest: for [3778] this [0444] man is a [4514] Roman.
22:27 [1161] Then the [5506] chief [5506] captain [4334] came, and [2036] said unto him, [3004] Tell me, [1488] art thou a [4514] Roman? He [5346] said, [3483] Yea.
22:28 And the [5506] chief [5506] captain [0611] answered, With a [4183] great [2774] sum [2932] obtained I [5026] this [4174] freedom. And [3972] Paul [5346] said, But I was free [1080] born.
22:29 [3767] Then [2112] straightway they [0868] departed from him [3588] which [3195] should have [0426] examined him: and the [5506] chief [5506] captain [2532] also was [5399] afraid, after he [1921] knew that he was a [4514] Roman, and [3754] because he had [1210] bound him.
22:30 On the [1887] morrow, because he would have [1097] known the [0804] certainty [5101] wherefore he was [2723] accused of the [2453] Jews, he [3089] loosed him from his [1199] bands, and [2753] commanded the [0749] chief [0749] priests and [3650] all their [4892] council to [2064] appear, and [2609] brought [3972] Paul [2609] down, and [2476] set him [1519] before them.
23:1 And [3972] Paul, [0816] earnestly [0816] beholding the [4892] council, [2036] said, [0435] Men and [0080] brethren, I have [4176] lived in [3956] all [0018] good [4893] conscience before [2316] God [0891] until [5026] this [2250] day.
23:2 And the [0749] high [0749] priest [0367] Ananias [2004] commanded them that [3936] stood by him to [5180] smite him on the [4750] mouth.
23:3 [5119] Then [2036] said [3972] Paul unto him, [2316] God shall [5180] smite thee, thou [2867] whited [5109] wall: for [2521] sittest thou to [2919] judge me [2596] after the [3551] law, and [2753] commandest me to be [5180] smitten [3891] contrary to the [3891] law?
23:4 And they that [3936] stood by [2036] said, [3058] Revilest thou [2316] God's [0749] high [0749] priest?
23:5 [5037] Then [5346] said [3972] Paul, I [1492] wist not, [0080] brethren, that he was the [0749] high [0749] priest: for it is [1125] written, Thou shalt not [2046] speak [2560] evil of the [0758] ruler of thy [2992] people.
23:6 But when [3972] Paul [1097] perceived that the [1520] one [3313] part were [4523] Sadducees, and the [2087] other [5330] Pharisees, he [2896] cried out in the [4892] council, [0435] Men and [0080] brethren, I [1510] am a [5330] Pharisee, the [5207] son of a [5330] Pharisee: of the [1680] hope and [0386] resurrection of the [3498] dead I am [2919] called in [2919] question.
23:7 And when he had [5124] so [2980] said, there [1096] arose a [4714] dissension between the [5330] Pharisees and the [4523] Sadducees: and the [4128] multitude was [4977] divided.
23:8 For the [4523] Sadducees [3004] say that there is [3361] no [0386] resurrection, [3366] neither [0032] angel, [3383] nor [4151] spirit: but the [5330] Pharisees [3670] confess [0297] both.
23:9 And there [1096] arose a [3173] great [2906] cry: and the [1122] scribes that were of the [5330] Pharisees' [3313] part [0450] arose, and [1264] strove, [3004] saying, We [2147] find [3762] no [2556] evil in [5129] this [0444] man: but [1487] if a [4151] spirit [2228] or an [0032] angel hath [2980] spoken to him, let us not [2313] fight against [2313] God.
23:10 And when there [1096] arose a [4183] great [4714] dissension, the [5506] chief [5506] captain, [2125] fearing [3361] lest [3972] Paul should have been [1288] pulled in [1288] pieces of them, [2753] commanded the [4753] soldiers to [2597] go [2597] down, and to [0726] take him by [0726] force from [3319] among them, and to [0071] bring him [1519] into the [3925] castle.
23:11 And the [3571] night following the [2962] Lord [2186] stood by him, and [2036] said, Be of good [2293] cheer, [3972] Paul: for as thou hast [1263] testified of me in [2419] Jerusalem, [3779] so [1163] must thou [3140] bear [3140] witness [2532] also [1519] at [4516] Rome.
23:12 And when it was [2250] day, [5100] certain of the [2453] Jews [4963] banded [4963] together, and [0332] bound [1438] themselves [0332] under a [0332] curse, [3004] saying that they would [3383] neither [5315] eat nor [4095] drink [2193] till they had [0615] killed [3972] Paul.
23:13 And they were [4119] more than [5062] forty [3588] which had [4160] made [5026] this [4945] conspiracy.
23:14 And they [4334] came to the [0749] chief [0749] priests and [4245] elders, and [2036] said, We have [0332] bound [1438] ourselves [0332] under a great [0332] curse, that we will [1089] eat [3367] nothing [2193] until we have [0615] slain [3972] Paul.
23:15 [3568] Now [3767] therefore ye with the [4892] council [1718] signify to the [5506] chief [5506] captain that he [2609] bring him [2609] down unto you to [0839] morrow, as though ye [3195] would [1231] enquire something [0197] more [0197] perfectly [4012] concerning him: and we, [4253] or [4253] ever he [1448] come [1448] near, are [2092] ready to [0337] kill him.
23:16 And when [3972] Paul's [0079] sister's [5207] son [0191] heard of their lying in [1747] wait, he [3854] went and [1525] entered [1519] into the [3925] castle, and [0518] told [3972] Paul.
23:17 [1161] Then [3972] Paul [4341] called [1520] one of the [1543] centurions unto him, and [5346] said, [0520] Bring [5126] this [3494] young [3494] man unto the [5506] chief [5506] captain: for he [2192] hath a [5100] certain thing to [0518] tell him.
23:18 [3767] So he [3880] took him, and [0071] brought him to the [5506] chief [5506] captain, and [5346] said, [3972] Paul the [1198] prisoner [4341] called me unto him, and [2065] prayed me to [0071] bring [5126] this [3494] young [3494] man unto thee, who [2192] hath [5100] something to [2980] say unto thee.
23:19 [1161] Then the [5506] chief [5506] captain [1949] took him by the [5495] hand, and [0402] went with him [0402] aside [2398] privately, and [2065] asked him, [5101] What is that thou [2192] hast to [0518] tell me?
23:20 And he [2036] said, The [2453] Jews have [4934] agreed to [2065] desire thee that thou wouldest [2609] bring [2609] down [3972] Paul to [0839] morrow [1519] into the [4892] council, as though they [3195] would [4441] enquire [5100] somewhat of him [0197] more [0197] perfectly.
23:21 But do not thou [3982] yield unto them: for there lie in [1748] wait for him of them [4119] more than [5062] forty [0435] men, [3748] which have [0332] bound [1438] themselves with an [0332] oath, that they will [3383] neither [5315] eat nor [4095] drink [2193] till they have [0337] killed him: and [3568] now are they [2092] ready, [4327] looking for a [1860] promise from thee.
23:22 [3767] So the [5506] chief [5506] captain then [0630] let the [3494] young [3494] man [0630] depart, and [3853] charged him, See thou [1583] tell [3367] no [3367] man that thou hast [1718] shewed [5023] these things to me.
23:23 And he [4341] called unto him [1417] two [1543] centurions, [2036] saying, [2090] Make [2090] ready [1250] two [1250] hundred [4757] soldiers to [4198] go to [2542] Caesarea, and [2460] horsemen [1440] threescore and ten, and [1187] spearmen [1250] two [1250] hundred, [0575] at the [5154] third [5610] hour of the [3571] night;
23:24 And [3936] provide them [2934] beasts, that they may [1913] set [3972] Paul [1913] on, and [1295] bring him [1295] safe unto [5344] Felix the [2232] governor.
23:25 And he [1125] wrote a [1992] letter [4023] after [5126] this [5179] manner:
23:26 [2804] Claudius [3079] Lysias unto the [2903] most [2903] excellent [2232] governor [5344] Felix sendeth [5463] greeting.
23:27 [5126] This [0435] man was [4815] taken of the [2453] Jews, and [3195] should have been [0615] killed of them: then [2186] came I with an [4753] army, and [1807] rescued him, having [3129] understood that he was a [4514] Roman.
23:28 And when I would have [1097] known the [0156] cause [3739] wherefore they [1458] accused him, I [2609] brought him [2609] forth [1519] into their [4892] council:
23:29 [3739] Whom I [2147] perceived to be [1458] accused of [2213] questions of their [3551] law, but to [2192] have [3367] nothing [1462] laid to his [1462] charge [0514] worthy of [0336] death [2228] or of [1199] bonds.
23:30 And when it was [3377] told me how that the [2453] Jews [2071] laid [1917] wait for the [0435] man, I [3992] sent [1824] straightway to thee, and gave [3853] commandment to his [2723] accusers [2532] also to [3004] say [1909] before thee [3588] what they had [4314] against him. [4517] Farewell.
23:31 [3767] Then the [4757] soldiers, as it was [1299] commanded them, [0353] took [3972] Paul, and [0071] brought him by [3571] night to [0494] Antipatris.
23:32 On the [1887] morrow they [1439] left the [2460] horsemen to [4198] go with him, and [5290] returned to the [3925] castle:
23:33 [3748] Who, when they [1525] came to [2542] Caesarea and [0325] delivered the [1992] epistle to the [2232] governor, [3936] presented [3972] Paul [2532] also before him.
23:34 And when the [2232] governor had [0314] read the letter, he [1905] asked of [4169] what [1885] province he was. And when he [4441] understood that he was of [2791] Cilicia;
23:35 I will [1251] hear thee, [5346] said he, [3752] when [4675] thine [2723] accusers are [2532] also [3854] come. And he [2753] commanded him to be [5442] kept in [2264] Herod's [4232] judgment [4232] hall.
24:1 And [3326] after [4002] five [2250] days [0367] Ananias the [0749] high [0749] priest [2597] descended with the [4245] elders, and with a [5100] certain [4489] orator named [5061] Tertullus, [3748] who [1718] informed the [2232] governor [2596] against [3972] Paul.
24:2 And when he was [2564] called [2564] forth, [5061] Tertullus [0756] began to [2723] accuse him, [3004] saying, Seeing that by thee we [5177] enjoy [4183] great [1515] quietness, and that [2735] very [2735] worthy [2735] deeds are [1096] done unto [5129] this [1484] nation by thy [4307] providence,
24:3 We [0588] accept it [3839] always, and in [3837] all [3837] places, [2903] most [2903] noble [5344] Felix, with [3956] all [2169] thankfulness.
24:4 Notwithstanding, that I be not [4119] further [1465] tedious unto thee, I [3870] pray thee that thou wouldest [0191] hear us of thy [1932] clemency a [4935] few words.
24:5 For we have [2147] found [5126] this [0435] man a [3061] pestilent fellow, and a [2795] mover of [4714] sedition among [3956] all the [2453] Jews [2596] throughout the [3625] world, and a [4414] ringleader of the [0139] sect of the [3480] Nazarenes:
24:6 [3739] Who [2532] also hath [3985] gone [3985] about to [0953] profane the [2411] temple: [3739] whom we [2902] took, and [2309] would have [2919] judged [2596] according to our [3551] law.
24:7 But the [5506] chief [5506] captain [3079] Lysias [3928] came upon us, and with [4183] great [0970] violence [0520] took him [0520] away out of our [5495] hands,
24:8 [2753] Commanding his [2723] accusers to [2064] come unto thee: by [0350] examining of [3739] whom [0846] thyself mayest take [1921] knowledge of [3956] all [5130] these things, [3739] whereof we [2723] accuse him.
24:9 And the [2453] Jews [2532] also [4934] assented, [5335] saying that [5023] these things were [3779] so.
24:10 [1161] Then [3972] Paul, after that the [2232] governor had [3506] beckoned unto him to [3004] speak, [0611] answered, Forasmuch as I [1987] know that thou hast [5607] been of [4183] many [2094] years a [2923] judge unto [5129] this [1484] nation, I do the [2115] more [2115] cheerfully [0626] answer for [1683] myself:
24:11 Because that thou mayest [1097] understand, that there are yet but [1177] twelve [2250] days [3739] since I [0305] went up to [2419] Jerusalem for to [4352] worship.
24:12 And they [3777] neither [2147] found me in the [2411] temple [1256] disputing with [5100] any man, neither [1999] raising up the [3793] people, [3777] neither in the [4864] synagogues, [3777] nor in the [4172] city:
24:13 [2228] Neither [1410] can they [3936] prove the things [3739] whereof they [3568] now [2723] accuse me.
24:14 But [5124] this I [3670] confess unto thee, that [2596] after the [3598] way [3739] which they [3004] call [0139] heresy, [3779] so [3000] worship I the [2316] God of my [3971] fathers, [4100] believing [3956] all things [3588] which are [1125] written in the [3551] law and in the [4396] prophets:
24:15 And [2192] have [1680] hope [1519] toward [2316] God, [3739] which they [0846] themselves [2532] also [4327] allow, that there shall be a [0386] resurrection of the [3498] dead, [5037] both of the [1342] just and [0094] unjust.
24:16 And [5129] herein do I [0778] exercise myself, to [2192] have [1275] always a [4893] conscience [0677] void of [0677] offence [4314] toward [2316] God, and toward [0444] men.
24:17 [1161] Now [1223] after [4119] many [2094] years I [3854] came to [4160] bring [1654] alms to my [1484] nation, and [4376] offerings.
24:18 [3739] Whereupon [5100] certain [2453] Jews from [0773] Asia [2147] found me [0048] purified in the [2411] temple, [3756] neither with [3793] multitude, [3761] nor with [2351] tumult.
24:19 [3739] Who [1163] ought to have [3918] been [3918] here [1909] before thee, and [2723] object, [1487] if they [2192] had [5100] ought [4314] against me.
24:20 [2228] Or else let [3778] these [3778] same here [2036] say, [1487] if they have [2147] found [1536] any [0092] evil [0092] doing in me, while I [2476] stood [1909] before the [4892] council,
24:21 [2228] Except it be for [5026] this [3391] one [5456] voice, that I [2896] cried [2476] standing [1722] among them, [4012] Touching the [0386] resurrection of the [3498] dead I am [2919] called in [2919] question by you [4594] this [4594] day.
24:22 And when [5344] Felix [0191] heard [5023] these things, having [0197] more [0197] perfect [1492] knowledge of that [3598] way, he [0306] deferred them, and [2036] said, [3752] When [3079] Lysias the [5506] chief [5506] captain shall [2597] come [2597] down, I will [1231] know the [1231] uttermost of [5209] your [2596] matter.
24:23 And he [1299] commanded a [1543] centurion to [5083] keep [3972] Paul, and to let him [2192] have [0425] liberty, and that he should [2967] forbid [3367] none of his [2398] acquaintance to [5256] minister [2228] or [4334] come unto him.
24:24 And [3326] after [5100] certain [2250] days, when [5344] Felix [3854] came with his [1135] wife [1409] Drusilla, which was a [2453] Jewess, he [3343] sent for [3972] Paul, and [0191] heard him [4012] concerning the [4102] faith in [5547] Christ.
24:25 And as he [1256] reasoned of [1343] righteousness, [1466] temperance, and [2917] judgment to [1511] come, [5344] Felix [1096] trembled, and [0611] answered, [4198] Go thy way for [3568] this [3568] time; when I [3335] have a [2540] convenient [2540] season, I will [3333] call for thee.
24:26 He [1679] hoped [2532] also that [5536] money should have been [1325] given him of [3972] Paul, that he might [3089] loose him: [1352] wherefore he [3343] sent for him the [4437] oftener, and [3656] communed with him.
24:27 But [4137] after [1333] two [1333] years [4201] Porcius [5347] Festus [1240] came into [5344] Felix' [1240] room: and [5344] Felix, [2309] willing to [2698] shew the [2453] Jews a [5485] pleasure, [2641] left [3972] Paul [1210] bound.
25:1 [3767] Now when [5347] Festus was [1910] come into the [1885] province, [3326] after [5140] three [2250] days he [0305] ascended from [2542] Caesarea to [2414] Jerusalem.
25:2 [1161] Then the [0749] high [0749] priest and the [4413] chief of the [2453] Jews [1718] informed him [2596] against [3972] Paul, and [3870] besought him,
25:3 And [0154] desired [5485] favour [2596] against him, that he would [3343] send for him to [2419] Jerusalem, [4160] laying [1747] wait in the [3598] way to [0337] kill him.
25:4 But [5347] Festus [0611] answered, that [3972] Paul should be [5083] kept [1722] at [2542] Caesarea, and that he [1438] himself [3195] would [1607] depart [5034] shortly thither.
25:5 Let them [3767] therefore, [5346] said he, which [1722] among you are [1415] able, [4782] go [4782] down with me, and [2723] accuse [0846] this [0435] man, [1487] if there be [1536] any [0824] wickedness in him.
25:6 And when he had [1304] tarried [1722] among them [4119] more [2228] than [1176] ten [2250] days, he [2597] went [2597] down unto [2542] Caesarea; and the [1887] next [1887] day [2523] sitting [1909] on the [0968] judgment [0968] seat [2753] commanded [3972] Paul to be [0071] brought.
25:7 And when he was [3854] come, the [2453] Jews which [2597] came [2597] down from [2414] Jerusalem [4026] stood [4026] round [3936] about, and [5342] laid [4183] many and [0926] grievous [0157] complaints [2596] against [3972] Paul, [3588] which they [2480] could not [0584] prove.
25:8 While he [0626] answered for himself, [3777] Neither [1519] against the [3551] law of the [2453] Jews, [3777] neither [1519] against the [2411] temple, [3777] nor yet [1519] against [2541] Caesar, have I [0264] offended [5100] any thing at all.
25:9 But [5347] Festus, [2309] willing to [2698] do the [2453] Jews a [5485] pleasure, [0611] answered [3972] Paul, and [2036] said, Wilt thou [0305] go up to [2414] Jerusalem, and [1563] there be [2919] judged of [5130] these things [1909] before me?
25:10 [1161] Then [2036] said [3972] Paul, I [2476] stand [1909] at [2541] Caesar's [0968] judgment [0968] seat, [3757] where I [1163] ought to be [2919] judged: to the [2453] Jews have I [0091] done [3762] no [0091] wrong, as thou [2566] very [2573] well [1921] knowest.
25:11 For [1487] if I be an [0091] offender, [2532] or have [4238] committed [5100] any thing [0514] worthy of [2288] death, I [3868] refuse not to [0599] die: but [1487] if there be [3762] none of these things [3739] whereof [3778] these [2723] accuse me, [3762] no [3762] man [1410] may [5483] deliver me unto them. I [1941] appeal unto [2541] Caesar.
25:12 [5119] Then [5347] Festus, when he had [4814] conferred with the [4824] council, [0611] answered, Hast thou [1941] appealed unto [2541] Caesar? unto [2541] Caesar shalt thou [4198] go.
25:13 And [1230] after [5100] certain [2250] days [0935] king [0067] Agrippa and [0959] Bernice [2658] came unto [2542] Caesarea to [0782] salute [5347] Festus.
25:14 And [5613] when they had [1304] been [1563] there [4119] many [2250] days, [5347] Festus [0394] declared [3972] Paul's [2596] cause unto the [0935] king, [3004] saying, There is a [5100] certain [0435] man [2641] left in [1198] bonds by [5344] Felix:
25:15 [4012] About [3739] whom, when I was [1519] at [2414] Jerusalem, the [0749] chief [0749] priests and the [4245] elders of the [2453] Jews [1718] informed me, [0154] desiring to have [1349] judgment [2596] against him.
25:16 To [3739] whom I [0611] answered, It is not the [1485] manner of the [4514] Romans to [5483] deliver [5100] any [0444] man to [0684] die, [4250] before that he which is [2723] accused [2192] have the [2723] accusers [4383] face to [4383] face, and [2983] have [5117] licence to [0627] answer for himself [4012] concerning the [1462] crime [1462] laid against him.
25:17 [3767] Therefore, when they were [4905] come [1759] hither, [4160] without [3367] any [0311] delay [1909] on the [1836] morrow I [2523] sat [1909] on the [0968] judgment [0968] seat, and [2753] commanded the [0435] man to be [0071] brought forth.
25:18 [4012] Against [3739] whom when the [2723] accusers [2476] stood up, they [2018] brought [3762] none [0156] accusation of such things as I [5282] supposed:
25:19 But [2192] had [5100] certain [2213] questions [4314] against him of their [2398] own [1175] superstition, and of [5100] one [2424] Jesus, which was [2348] dead, [3739] whom [3972] Paul [5335] affirmed to be [2198] alive.
25:20 And because I [0639] doubted of such [4012] manner of [2214] questions, I [3004] asked him [1487] whether he would [4198] go to [2419] Jerusalem, and [1563] there be [2919] judged of [5130] these matters.
25:21 But when [3972] Paul had [1941] appealed to be [5083] reserved unto the [1233] hearing of [0828] Augustus, I [2753] commanded him to be [5083] kept [2193] till I might [3992] send him to [2541] Caesar.
25:22 [1161] Then [0067] Agrippa [5346] said unto [5347] Festus, I would [2532] also [0191] hear the [0444] man myself. To [0839] morrow, [5346] said he, thou shalt [0191] hear him.
25:23 And on the [1887] morrow, when [0067] Agrippa was [2064] come, and [0959] Bernice, with [4183] great [5325] pomp, and was [1525] entered [1519] into the [0201] place of [0201] hearing, with the [5506] chief [5506] captains, and [1851] principal [0435] men of the [4172] city, at [5347] Festus' [2753] commandment [3972] Paul was [0071] brought forth.
25:24 And [5347] Festus [5346] said, [0935] King [0067] Agrippa, and [3956] all [0435] men [3588] which are [4840] here [4840] present with us, ye [2334] see [5126] this man, [4012] about [3739] whom [3956] all the [4128] multitude of the [2453] Jews have [1793] dealt with me, [5037] both [1722] at [2414] Jerusalem, and also [1759] here, [1916] crying that he [1163] ought not to [2198] live [3371] any [3371] longer.
25:25 But when I [2638] found that he had [4238] committed [3367] nothing [0514] worthy of [0336] death, and that he [0848] himself hath [1941] appealed to [0828] Augustus, I have [2919] determined to [3992] send him.
25:26 Of [3739] whom I [2192] have [3756] no [0804] certain thing to [1125] write unto my [2962] lord. [1352] Wherefore I have [4254] brought him [4254] forth [1909] before you, and [3122] specially [1909] before thee, O [0935] king [0067] Agrippa, that, after [0351] examination [1096] had, I might [2192] have [5100] somewhat to [1125] write.
25:27 For it [1380] seemeth to me [0249] unreasonable to [3992] send a [1198] prisoner, and not withal to [4591] signify the [0156] crimes laid [2596] against him.
26:1 [1161] Then [0067] Agrippa [5346] said unto [3972] Paul, Thou art [2010] permitted to [3004] speak for [4572] thyself. [5119] Then [3972] Paul [1614] stretched [1614] forth the [5495] hand, and [0626] answered for himself:
26:2 I [2233] think [1683] myself [3107] happy, [0935] king [0067] Agrippa, because I shall [0626] answer for myself [4594] this [4594] day [1909] before thee [4012] touching [3956] all the things [3739] whereof I am [1458] accused of the [2453] Jews:
26:3 [3122] Especially because I know thee to be [1109] expert in [3956] all [1485] customs and [2213] questions which are [2596] among the [2453] Jews: [1352] wherefore I [1189] beseech thee to [0191] hear me [3116] patiently.
26:4 My [0981] manner of [0981] life from my [3503] youth, [3588] which was [0575] at the [0746] first [1722] among [3450] mine own [1484] nation [1722] at [2414] Jerusalem, [2467] know [3956] all the [2453] Jews;
26:5 Which [4267] knew me from the [0509] beginning, [1437] if they [2309] would [3140] testify, that [2596] after the most [0196] straitest [0139] sect of our [2356] religion I [2198] lived a [5330] Pharisee.
26:6 And [3568] now I [2476] stand and am [2919] judged for the [1680] hope of the [1860] promise [1096] made of [2316] God, unto our [3962] fathers:
26:7 Unto [3739] which promise our [1429] twelve [1429] tribes, [1616] instantly [3000] serving God [2250] day and [3571] night, [1679] hope to [2658] come. For [3739] which [1679] hope's sake, [0935] king [0067] Agrippa, I am [1458] accused of the [2453] Jews.
26:8 [5101] Why should it be [2919] thought a thing [0571] incredible with you, that [2316] God should [1453] raise the [3498] dead?
26:9 I [3767] verily [1380] thought with [1683] myself, that I [1163] ought to [4238] do [4183] many things [1727] contrary to the [3686] name of [2424] Jesus of [3478] Nazareth.
26:10 [3739] Which thing I [2532] also [4160] did in [2414] Jerusalem: and [4183] many of the [0040] saints did I [2623] shut up in [5438] prison, having [2983] received [1849] authority from the [0749] chief [0749] priests; and when they were [0337] put to [0337] death, I [2702] gave my [5586] voice [2702] against them.
26:11 And I [5097] punished them [4178] oft in [3956] every [4864] synagogue, and [0315] compelled them to [0987] blaspheme; and being [4057] exceedingly [1693] mad [1693] against them, I [1377] persecuted them [2532] even unto [1854] strange [4172] cities.
26:12 [3739] Whereupon as I [4198] went to [1154] Damascus with [1849] authority and [2011] commission from the [0749] chief [0749] priests,
26:13 At [3319] midday, O [0935] king, I [1492] saw in the [3598] way a [5457] light from [3771] heaven, [5228] above the [2987] brightness of the [2246] sun, [4034] shining [4034] round [4034] about me and them which [4198] journeyed with me.
26:14 And when we were [3956] all [2667] fallen to the [1093] earth, I [0191] heard a [5456] voice [2980] speaking unto me, and [3004] saying in the [1446] Hebrew [1258] tongue, [4569] Saul, [4569] Saul, [5101] why [1377] persecutest thou me? it is [4642] hard for thee to [2979] kick [4314] against the [2759] pricks.
26:15 And I [2036] said, [5101] Who [1488] art thou, [2962] Lord? And he [2036] said, I [1510] am [2424] Jesus [3739] whom thou [1377] persecutest.
26:16 But [0450] rise, and [2476] stand upon thy [4228] feet: for I have [3700] appeared unto thee for [5124] this purpose, to [4400] make thee a [5257] minister and a [3144] witness [5037] both of these things [3739] which thou hast [1492] seen, and of those things in the [3739] which I will [3700] appear unto thee;
26:17 [1807] Delivering thee from the [2992] people, and from the [1484] Gentiles, unto [3739] whom [3568] now I [0649] send thee,
26:18 To [0455] open their [3788] eyes, and to [1994] turn them from [4655] darkness to [5457] light, and from the [1849] power of [4567] Satan unto [2316] God, that they may [2983] receive [0859] forgiveness of [0266] sins, and [2819] inheritance [1722] among them which are [0037] sanctified by [4102] faith that is in me.
26:19 [3606] Whereupon, O [0935] king [0067] Agrippa, I was not [0545] disobedient unto the [3770] heavenly [3705] vision:
26:20 But [0518] shewed [4412] first unto them of [1154] Damascus, and at [2414] Jerusalem, and [1519] throughout [3956] all the [5561] coasts of [2449] Judaea, and then to the [1484] Gentiles, that they should [3340] repent and [1994] turn to [2316] God, and [4238] do [2041] works [0514] meet for [3341] repentance.
26:21 For [5130] these [1752] causes the [2453] Jews [4815] caught me in the [2411] temple, and [3987] went [3987] about to [1315] kill me.
26:22 Having [3767] therefore [5177] obtained [1947] help of [2316] God, I [2476] continue unto [5026] this [2250] day, [3140] witnessing [5037] both to [3398] small and [3173] great, [3004] saying [3762] none [1622] other things than those [3739] which the [4396] prophets and [3475] Moses did [2980] say [3195] should [1096] come:
26:23 That [5547] Christ should [3805] suffer, and that he should be the [4413] first that [3195] should [0386] rise from the [3498] dead, and should [2605] shew [5457] light unto the [2992] people, and to the [1484] Gentiles.
26:24 And as he [5023] thus [0626] spake for himself, [5347] Festus [5346] said with a [3173] loud [5456] voice, [3972] Paul, thou art [3105] beside thyself; [4183] much [1121] learning doth [4062] make thee [3130] mad.
26:25 But he [5346] said, I am not [3105] mad, [2903] most [2903] noble [5347] Festus; but [0669] speak [0669] forth the [4487] words of [0225] truth and [4997] soberness.
26:26 For the [0935] king [1987] knoweth of [5130] these things, [4314] before [3739] whom [2532] also I [2980] speak [3955] freely: for I am [3982] persuaded that [3762] none of [5130] these things are [2990] hidden from him; for [5124] this thing was not [4238] done in a [1137] corner.
26:27 [0935] King [0067] Agrippa, [4100] believest thou the [4396] prophets? I [1492] know that thou [4100] believest.
26:28 [1161] Then [0067] Agrippa [5346] said unto [3972] Paul, [3641] Almost thou [3982] persuadest me to be a [5546] Christian.
26:29 And [3972] Paul [2036] said, I [2172] would to [2316] God, that not [3440] only thou, but [2532] also [3956] all that [0191] hear me [4594] this [4594] day, were [2532] both [3641] almost, and [4183] altogether [5108] such as I [1510] am, [3924] except [5130] these [1199] bonds.
26:30 And when he had [5023] thus [2036] spoken, the [0935] king [0450] rose up, and the [2232] governor, and [0959] Bernice, and they that [4775] sat with them:
26:31 And when they were [0402] gone [0402] aside, they [2980] talked [4314] between [0240] themselves, [3004] saying, [3778] This [0444] man [4238] doeth [3762] nothing [0514] worthy of [2288] death [2228] or of [1199] bonds.
26:32 [1161] Then [5346] said [0067] Agrippa unto [5347] Festus, [3778] This [0444] man [1410] might have [1096] been [0630] set [0630] at [0630] liberty, [1487] if he had not [1941] appealed unto [2541] Caesar.
27:1 And [5613] when it was [2919] determined that we should [0636] sail [1519] into [2482] Italy, they [3860] delivered [3972] Paul and [5100] certain [2087] other [1202] prisoners unto one [3686] named [2457] Julius, a [1543] centurion of [0828] Augustus' [4686] band.
27:2 And [1910] entering into a [4143] ship of [0098] Adramyttium, we [0321] launched, [3195] meaning to [4126] sail by the [5117] coasts of [0773] Asia; one [0708] Aristarchus, a [3110] Macedonian of [2331] Thessalonica, [5607] being with us.
27:3 And the [2087] next day we [2609] touched [1519] at [4605] Sidon. And [2457] Julius [5364] courteously [5530] entreated [3972] Paul, and [2010] gave him [2010] liberty to [4198] go unto his [5384] friends to [5177] refresh himself.
27:4 And when we had [0321] launched from [1564] thence, we [5284] sailed [5284] under [2954] Cyprus, [1223] because the [0417] winds were [1727] contrary.
27:5 And when we had [1277] sailed [1277] over the [3989] sea of [2791] Cilicia and [3828] Pamphylia, we [2718] came to [3460] Myra, a city of [3073] Lycia.
27:6 And [1563] there the [1543] centurion [2147] found a [4143] ship of [0221] Alexandria [4126] sailing [1519] into [2482] Italy; and he [1688] put us therein.
27:7 And when we had [1020] sailed [1020] slowly [2425] many [2250] days, and [3433] scarce were [1096] come [2596] over [2596] against [2834] Cnidus, the [0417] wind not [4330] suffering us, we [5284] sailed [5284] under [2914] Crete, [2596] over [2596] against [4534] Salmone;
27:8 And, [3433] hardly [3881] passing it, [2064] came unto a [5117] place which is [2564] called The [2568] fair [2568] havens; [1451] nigh [3739] whereunto was the [4172] city of [2996] Lasea.
27:9 [1161] Now when [2425] much [5550] time was [1230] spent, and when [4144] sailing was [2235] now [2000] dangerous, [1223] because the [3521] fast was [2235] now [2235] already [3928] past, [3972] Paul [3867] admonished them,
27:10 And [3004] said unto them, [0435] Sirs, I [2334] perceive that [3588] this [4144] voyage [3195] will be with [5196] hurt and [4183] much [2209] damage, not [3440] only of the [5414] lading and [4143] ship, but [2532] also of our [5590] lives.
27:11 [1161] Nevertheless the [1543] centurion [3982] believed the [2942] master and the [3490] owner of the [3490] ship, [3123] more [2228] than [3588] those things which were [3004] spoken by [3972] Paul.
27:12 And because the [3040] haven [5225] was not [0428] commodious to [3915] winter in, the [4119] more part [5087] advised to [0321] depart [1564] thence [2547] also, [1513] if by [4458] any [4458] means they [1410] might [2658] attain to [5405] Phenice, and there to [3914] winter; which is an [3040] haven of [2914] Crete, and [0991] lieth [2596] toward the [3047] south [3047] west and [5566] north [5566] west.
27:13 And when the [3558] south wind [5285] blew [5285] softly, [1380] supposing that they had [2902] obtained their [4286] purpose, [0142] loosing thence, they [3881] sailed [0788] close by [2914] Crete.
27:14 But not [4183] long after there [0906] arose [2596] against it a [5189] tempestuous [0417] wind, [2564] called [2148] Euroclydon.
27:15 And when the [4143] ship was [4884] caught, and [1410] could not [0503] bear up into the [0417] wind, we [1929] let her [1929] drive.
27:16 And [5295] running [5295] under a [5100] certain [3519] island which is [2564] called [2802] Clauda, we had [3433] much [2480] work to [1096] come by the [4627] boat:
27:17 [3739] Which when they had [0142] taken up, they [5530] used [0996] helps, [5269] undergirding the [4143] ship; and, [5399] fearing [3361] lest they should [1601] fall [1519] into the [4950] quicksands, [5465] strake [4632] sail, and [3779] so were [5342] driven.
27:18 And we being [4971] exceedingly [5492] tossed with a [5492] tempest, the [1836] next day they [1546] lightened the ship;
27:19 And the [5154] third day we [4496] cast out with our [0849] own [0849] hands the [4631] tackling of the [4143] ship.
27:20 And when [3383] neither [2246] sun [3383] nor [0798] stars in [4119] many [2250] days [2014] appeared, and [3756] no [3641] small [5494] tempest [1945] lay [1945] on us, [3956] all [1680] hope that we should be [4982] saved was [3063] then [4014] taken [4014] away.
27:21 But [5225] after [4183] long [0776] abstinence [3972] Paul [2476] stood forth in the [3319] midst of them, and [2036] said, [0435] Sirs, ye [1163] should have [3980] hearkened unto me, and not have [0321] loosed from [2914] Crete, and to have [2770] gained [5026] this [5196] harm and [2209] loss.
27:22 And [3568] now I [3867] exhort you to be of good [2114] cheer: for there shall be [3762] no [0580] loss of [3762] any man's [5590] life [1537] among you, but of the [4143] ship.
27:23 For there [3936] stood by me [5026] this [3571] night the [0032] angel of [2316] God, [3739] whose I [1510] am, and [3739] whom I [3000] serve,
27:24 [3004] Saying, [5399] Fear not, [3972] Paul; thou [1163] must be [3936] brought [3936] before [2541] Caesar: and, [2400] lo, [2316] God hath [5483] given thee [3956] all them that [4126] sail with thee.
27:25 [1352] Wherefore, [0435] sirs, be of good [2114] cheer: for I [4100] believe [2316] God, that it shall be [3779] even as it was [2980] told me.
27:26 Howbeit we [1163] must be [1601] cast upon a [5100] certain [3520] island.
27:27 But [5613] when the [5065] fourteenth [3571] night was [1096] come, as we were [1308] driven up and [1308] down in [0099] Adria, [2596] about [3571] midnight the [3492] shipmen [5282] deemed that they [4317] drew [4317] near to [5100] some [5561] country;
27:28 And [1001] sounded, and [2147] found it [1501] twenty [3712] fathoms: and when they had [1339] gone a [1024] little [1339] further, they [1001] sounded [3825] again, and [2147] found it [1178] fifteen [3712] fathoms.
27:29 [5037] Then [5399] fearing [3381] lest we should have [1601] fallen upon [5117] rocks, they [4496] cast [5064] four [0045] anchors out of the [4403] stern, and [2172] wished for the [2250] day.
27:30 And as the [3492] shipmen were [2212] about to [5343] flee out of the [4143] ship, when they had [5465] let [5465] down the [4627] boat [1519] into the [2281] sea, under [4392] colour as though they [3195] would have [1614] cast anchors out of the [4408] foreship,
27:31 [3972] Paul [2036] said to the [1543] centurion and to the [4757] soldiers, [3362] Except [3778] these [3306] abide in the [4143] ship, ye [1410] cannot be [4982] saved.
27:32 [5119] Then the [4757] soldiers [0609] cut [0609] off the [4979] ropes of the [4627] boat, and [1439] let her [1601] fall [1601] off.
27:33 And [3739] while the [2250] day was [1096] coming on, [3972] Paul [3870] besought them [0537] all to [3335] take [5160] meat, [3004] saying, [4594] This [4594] day is the [5065] fourteenth [2250] day that ye have [4328] tarried and [1300] continued [0777] fasting, having [4355] taken [3367] nothing.
27:34 [1352] Wherefore I [3870] pray you to [4355] take some [5160] meat: for [5124] this [5225] is for [5212] your [4991] health: for there shall not an [2359] hair [4098] fall from the [2776] head of [3762] any of you.
27:35 And when he had [5023] thus [2036] spoken, he [2983] took [0740] bread, and gave [2168] thanks to [2316] God in [1799] presence of them [3956] all: and when he had [2806] broken it, he [0756] began to [2068] eat.
27:36 [1161] Then were they [3956] all of good [2114] cheer, and they [2532] also [4355] took some [5160] meat.
27:37 And we were in [3956] all in the [4143] ship [1250] two [1250] hundred [1440] threescore and [1803] sixteen [5590] souls.
27:38 And when they had [2880] eaten [2880] enough, they [2893] lightened the [4143] ship, and [1544] cast out the [4621] wheat [1519] into the [2281] sea.
27:39 And [3753] when it was [2250] day, they [1921] knew not the [1093] land: but they [2657] discovered a [5100] certain [2859] creek with a [0123] shore, [1519] into the [3739] which they were [1014] minded, [1487] if it were [1410] possible, to [1856] thrust in the [4143] ship.
27:40 And when they had [4014] taken up the [0045] anchors, they [1439] committed themselves unto the [2281] sea, and [0447] loosed the [4079] rudder [2202] bands, and [1869] hoised up the [0736] mainsail to the [4154] wind, and [2722] made [1519] toward [0123] shore.
27:41 And [4045] falling [1519] into a [5117] place [1337] where [1337] two [1337] seas met, they [2027] ran the [3491] ship [2027] aground; and the [4408] forepart [2043] stuck fast, and [3306] remained [0761] unmoveable, but the [4403] hinder [4403] part was [3089] broken with the [0970] violence of the [2949] waves.
27:42 And the [4757] soldiers' [1012] counsel was to [0615] kill the [1202] prisoners, [3361] lest [5100] any of them should [1579] swim out, and [1309] escape.
27:43 But the [1543] centurion, [1014] willing to [1295] save [3972] Paul, [2967] kept them from their [1013] purpose; and [2753] commanded that they which [1410] could [2860] swim should [0641] cast themselves [4413] first into the sea, and [1826] get to [1093] land:
27:44 And the [3062] rest, [3588] some [1909] on [4548] boards, and [1161] some [1909] on broken pieces of the [4143] ship. And [3779] so it [1096] came to pass, that they [1295] escaped [3956] all [1295] safe to [1093] land.
28:1 And when they were [1295] escaped, [5119] then they [1921] knew that the [3520] island was [2564] called [3194] Melita.
28:2 And the [0915] barbarous people [3930] shewed us [3756] no [5177] little [5363] kindness: for they [0381] kindled a [4443] fire, and [4355] received us [3956] every one, [1223] because of the [2186] present [5205] rain, and [1223] because of the [5592] cold.
28:3 And when [3972] Paul had [4962] gathered a [4128] bundle of [5434] sticks, and [2007] laid them [1909] on the [4443] fire, there [1831] came a [2191] viper out of the [2329] heat, and [2510] fastened [2510] on his [5495] hand.
28:4 And [5613] when the [0915] barbarians [1492] saw the venomous [2342] beast [2910] hang [1537] on his [5495] hand, they [3004] said [4314] among [0846] themselves, No [3843] doubt [3778] this [0444] man is a [5406] murderer, [3739] whom, though he hath [1295] escaped the [2281] sea, yet [1349] vengeance [1439] suffereth not to [2198] live.
28:5 And he [0660] shook [0660] off the [2342] beast [1519] into the [4442] fire, and [3958] felt [3762] no [2556] harm.
28:6 Howbeit they [4328] looked when he [3195] should have [4092] swollen, [2228] or [2667] fallen [2667] down [3498] dead [0869] suddenly: but after they had [4328] looked a [4183] great while, and [2334] saw [3367] no [0824] harm [1096] come to him, they [3328] changed their minds, and [3004] said that he was a [2316] god.
28:7 In the [1565] same [5117] quarters [5225] were [5564] possessions of the [4413] chief man of the [3520] island, whose [3686] name was [4196] Publius; [3739] who [0324] received us, and [3579] lodged us [5140] three [2250] days [5390] courteously.
28:8 And it [1096] came to pass, that the [3962] father of [4196] Publius [2621] lay sick of a [4446] fever and of a [1420] bloody [1420] flux: to [3739] whom [3972] Paul [1525] entered in, and [4336] prayed, and [2007] laid his [5495] hands [2007] on him, and [2390] healed him.
28:9 [3767] So when [5127] this was [1096] done, [3062] others [2532] also, [3588] which [2192] had [0769] diseases in the [3520] island, [4334] came, and were [2323] healed:
28:10 [3739] Who [2532] also [5092] honoured us with [4183] many [5091] honours; and when we [0321] departed, they [2007] laded us with such things as were [5532] necessary.
28:11 And [3326] after [5140] three [3376] months we [0321] departed in a [4143] ship of [0221] Alexandria, which had [3914] wintered in the [3520] isle, whose [3902] sign was [1359] Castor and [1359] Pollux.
28:12 And [2609] landing [1519] at [4946] Syracuse, we [1961] tarried there [5140] three [2250] days.
28:13 And from [3606] thence we fetched a [4022] compass, and [2658] came to [4484] Rhegium: and [3326] after [3391] one [2250] day the [3558] south wind [1920] blew, and we [2064] came the [1206] next day to [4223] Puteoli:
28:14 [3757] Where we [2147] found [0080] brethren, and were [3870] desired to [1961] tarry with them [2033] seven [2250] days: and [3779] so we [2064] went [1519] toward [4516] Rome.
28:15 And from [1564] thence, when the [0080] brethren [0191] heard of us, they [1831] came to [0529] meet us as [0891] far as [0675] Appii [5410] forum, and The [5140] three [4999] taverns: [3739] whom when [3972] Paul [1492] saw, he [2168] thanked [2316] God, and [2983] took [2294] courage.
28:16 And [3753] when we [2064] came to [4516] Rome, the [1543] centurion [3860] delivered the [1198] prisoners to the [4759] captain of the [4759] guard: but [3972] Paul was [2010] suffered to [3306] dwell by [1438] himself with a [4757] soldier that [5442] kept him.
28:17 And it [1096] came to pass, that [3326] after [5140] three [2250] days [3972] Paul [4779] called the [4413] chief of the [2453] Jews [4779] together: and when they were [4905] come [4905] together, he [3004] said unto them, [0435] Men and [0080] brethren, though I have [4160] committed [3762] nothing [1727] against the [2992] people, [2228] or [1485] customs of our [3971] fathers, yet was I [3860] delivered [1198] prisoner from [2414] Jerusalem [1519] into the [5495] hands of the [4514] Romans.
28:18 [3748] Who, when they had [0350] examined me, would have [0630] let me [0630] go, [1223] because there [5225] was [3367] no [0156] cause of [2288] death in me.
28:19 But when the [2453] Jews [0483] spake [0483] against it, I was [0315] constrained to [1941] appeal unto [2541] Caesar; not that I [2192] had [5100] ought to [2722] accuse my [1484] nation of.
28:20 For [5026] this [0156] cause [3767] therefore have I [3870] called for you, to [1492] see you, and to [4354] speak with you: [1063] because that for the [1680] hope of [2474] Israel I am [4029] bound with [5026] this [0254] chain.
28:21 And they [2036] said unto him, We [3777] neither [1209] received [1121] letters out of [2449] Judaea [4012] concerning thee, [3777] neither [5100] any of the [0080] brethren that [3854] came [0518] shewed [2228] or [2980] spake [5100] any [4190] harm of thee.
28:22 But we [0515] desire to [0191] hear of thee [3739] what thou [5426] thinkest: for as [4012] concerning [5026] this [0139] sect, we [1110] know that [3837] every [3837] where it is [0483] spoken [0483] against.
28:23 And when they had [5021] appointed him a [2250] day, there [2240] came [4119] many to him [1519] into his [3578] lodging; to [3739] whom he [1620] expounded and [1263] testified the [0932] kingdom of [2316] God, [3982] persuading them [4012] concerning [2424] Jesus, [5037] both out of the [3551] law of [3475] Moses, and out of the [4396] prophets, from [4404] morning [2193] till [2073] evening.
28:24 And [3588] some [3982] believed the things which were [3004] spoken, and [3588] some [0569] believed [0569] not.
28:25 And when they [0800] agreed not [4314] among [0846] themselves, they [0630] departed, after that [3972] Paul had [2036] spoken [1520] one [4487] word, [2573] Well [2980] spake the [0040] Holy [4151] Ghost by [2268] Esaias the [4396] prophet unto our [3962] fathers,
28:26 [3004] Saying, [4198] Go unto [5126] this [2992] people, and [2036] say, [0189] Hearing ye shall [0191] hear, and shall not [4920] understand; and [0991] seeing ye shall [0991] see, and not [1492] perceive:
28:27 For the [2588] heart of [5127] this [2992] people is [3975] waxed [3975] gross, and their [3775] ears are [0917] dull of [0191] hearing, and their [3788] eyes have they [2576] closed; [3379] lest they should [1492] see with their [3788] eyes, and [0191] hear with their [3775] ears, and [4920] understand with their [2588] heart, and should be [1994] converted, and I should [2392] heal them.
28:28 Be it [1110] known [3767] therefore unto you, that the [4992] salvation of [2316] God is [0649] sent unto the [1484] Gentiles, and that they will [0191] hear it.
28:29 And when he had [2036] said [5023] these words, the [2453] Jews [0565] departed, and [2192] had [4183] great [4803] reasoning [1722] among [1438] themselves.
28:30 And [3972] Paul [3306] dwelt [1333] two [3650] whole [1333] years in his [2398] own [3410] hired house, and [0588] received [3956] all that [1531] came in unto him,
28:31 [2784] Preaching the [0932] kingdom of [2316] God, and [1321] teaching [3588] those things which [4012] concern the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ, with [3956] all [3954] confidence, [0209] no man [0209] forbidding him.
