1:1 [3972] Paul, an [0652] apostle of [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ by the [2003] commandment of [2316] God our [4990] Saviour, and [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ, [3588] which is our [1680] hope;
1:2 Unto [5095] Timothy, my [1103] own [5043] son in the [4102] faith: [5485] Grace, [1656] mercy, and [1515] peace, from [2316] God our [3962] Father and [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ our [2962] Lord.
1:3 As I [3870] besought thee to [4357] abide [4357] still [1722] at [2181] Ephesus, when I [4198] went [1519] into [3109] Macedonia, that thou mightest [3853] charge [5100] some that they [2085] teach [3361] no [2085] other doctrine,
1:4 [3366] Neither give [4337] heed to [3454] fables and [0562] endless [1076] genealogies, [3748] which [3930] minister [2214] questions, [3123] rather [2228] than [2316] godly [3622] edifying [3588] which is in [4102] faith: so do.
1:5 [1161] Now the [5056] end of the [3852] commandment is [0026] charity out of a [2513] pure [2588] heart, and of a [0018] good [4893] conscience, and of [4102] faith [0505] unfeigned:
1:6 From [3739] which [5100] some having [0795] swerved have [1624] turned [1624] aside unto [3150] vain [3150] jangling;
1:7 [2309] Desiring to be [3547] teachers of the [3547] law; [4920] understanding [3383] neither [3739] what they [3004] say, [3383] nor [5101] whereof they [1226] affirm.
1:8 But we [1492] know that the [3551] law is [2570] good, [1437] if a [5100] man [5530] use it [3545] lawfully;
1:9 [1492] Knowing [5124] this, that the [3551] law is not [2749] made for a [1342] righteous man, but for the [0459] lawless and [0506] disobedient, for the [0765] ungodly and for [0268] sinners, for [0462] unholy and [0952] profane, for [3964] murderers of [3964] fathers and [3389] murderers of [3389] mothers, for [0409] manslayers,
1:10 For [4205] whoremongers, for them that [0733] defile [0733] themselves [0733] with [0733] mankind, for [0405] menstealers, for [5583] liars, for [1965] perjured [1965] persons, and [1487] if there be [1536] any [2087] other thing that is [0480] contrary to [5198] sound [1319] doctrine;
1:11 [2596] According to the [1391] glorious [2098] gospel of the [3107] blessed [2316] God, [3739] which was [4100] committed to my [4100] trust.
1:12 And I [5485] thank [5547] Christ [2424] Jesus our [2962] Lord, [3588] who hath [1743] enabled me, for that he [2233] counted me [4103] faithful, [5087] putting me [1519] into the [1248] ministry;
1:13 [3588] Who was [4386] before a [0989] blasphemer, and a [1376] persecutor, and [5197] injurious: but I [1653] obtained [1653] mercy, [3754] because I did it [0050] ignorantly in [0570] unbelief.
1:14 And the [5485] grace of our [2962] Lord was [5250] exceeding [5250] abundant with [4102] faith and [0026] love [3588] which is in [5547] Christ [2424] Jesus.
1:15 [3588] This is a [4103] faithful [3056] saying, and [0514] worthy of [3956] all [0594] acceptation, that [5547] Christ [2424] Jesus [2064] came [1519] into the [2889] world to [4982] save [0268] sinners; of [3739] whom I [1510] am [4413] chief.
1:16 [0235] Howbeit for [5124] this [1223] cause I [1653] obtained [1653] mercy, that in me [4413] first [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ might [1731] shew [1731] forth [3956] all [3115] longsuffering, for a [5296] pattern to them which [3195] should [3195] hereafter [4100] believe [1909] on him to [2222] life [0166] everlasting.
1:17 [1161] Now unto the [0935] King [0165] eternal, [0862] immortal, [0517] invisible, the [3441] only [4680] wise [2316] God, be [5092] honour and [1391] glory for [0165] ever and [0165] ever. [0281] Amen.
1:18 [5026] This [3852] charge I [3908] commit unto thee, [5043] son [5095] Timothy, [2596] according to the [4394] prophecies which [4254] went [4254] before [1909] on thee, that thou by them mightest [4754] war a [2570] good [4752] warfare;
1:19 [2192] Holding [4102] faith, and a [0018] good [4893] conscience; [3739] which [5100] some having [0683] put [0683] away [4012] concerning [4102] faith have [3489] made [3489] shipwreck:
1:20 Of [3739] whom is [5211] Hymenaeus and [0223] Alexander; [3739] whom I have [3860] delivered unto [4567] Satan, that they may [3811] learn not to [0987] blaspheme.
2:1 I [3870] exhort [3767] therefore, that, [4412] first of [3956] all, [1162] supplications, [4335] prayers, [1783] intercessions, and giving of [2169] thanks, be [4160] made for [3956] all [0444] men;
2:2 For [0935] kings, and for [3956] all that are in [5247] authority; that we may [1236] lead a [2263] quiet and [2272] peaceable [0979] life in [3956] all [2150] godliness and [4587] honesty.
2:3 For [5124] this is [2570] good and [0587] acceptable in the [1799] sight of [2316] God our [4990] Saviour;
2:4 [3739] Who [2309] will have [3956] all [0444] men to be [4982] saved, and to [2064] come unto the [1922] knowledge of the [0225] truth.
2:5 For there is [1520] one [2316] God, and [1520] one [3316] mediator between [2316] God and [0444] men, the [0444] man [5547] Christ [2424] Jesus;
2:6 [3588] Who [1325] gave [1438] himself a [0487] ransom for [3956] all, to be [3142] testified in [2398] due [2540] time.
2:7 [3739] Whereunto I am [5087] ordained a [2783] preacher, and an [0652] apostle, (I [3004] speak the [0225] truth in [5547] Christ, and [5574] lie not;) a [1320] teacher of the [1484] Gentiles in [4102] faith and [0225] verity.
2:8 I [1014] will [3767] therefore that [0435] men [4336] pray [3956] every [5117] where, [1869] lifting up [3741] holy [5495] hands, [5565] without [3709] wrath and [1261] doubting.
2:9 In [5615] like manner [2532] also, that [1135] women [2885] adorn [1438] themselves in [2887] modest [2689] apparel, with [0127] shamefacedness and [4997] sobriety; not with [4117] broided [4117] hair, [2228] or [5557] gold, [2228] or [3135] pearls, [2228] or [4185] costly [2441] array;
2:10 But ( [3739] which [0516] becometh [1135] women [1861] professing [2317] godliness) with [0018] good [2041] works.
2:11 Let the [1135] woman [3129] learn in [2271] silence with [3956] all [5292] subjection.
2:12 But I [2010] suffer not a [1135] woman to [1321] teach, [3761] nor to [0831] usurp [0831] authority over the [0435] man, but to be in [2271] silence.
2:13 For [0076] Adam was [4413] first [4111] formed, [1534] then [2096] Eve.
2:14 And [0076] Adam was not [0538] deceived, but the [1135] woman being [0538] deceived was in the [3847] transgression.
2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be [4982] saved in [5042] childbearing, [1437] if they [3306] continue in [4102] faith and [0026] charity and [0038] holiness with [4997] sobriety.
3:1 [3588] This is a [4103] true [3056] saying, [1487] If a [5100] man [3713] desire the [1984] office of a [1984] bishop, he [1937] desireth a [2570] good [2041] work.
3:2 A [1985] bishop [3767] then [1163] must be [0423] blameless, the [0435] husband of [3391] one [1135] wife, [3524] vigilant, [4998] sober, of good [2887] behaviour, given to [5382] hospitality, [1317] apt to [1317] teach;
3:3 Not [3943] given to [3943] wine, [3361] no [4131] striker, not [0146] greedy of filthy [0146] lucre; but [1933] patient, not a [0269] brawler, not [0866] covetous;
3:4 One that [4291] ruleth [2573] well his [2398] own [3624] house, [2192] having his [5043] children in [5292] subjection with [3956] all [4587] gravity;
3:5 (For [1487] if a [5100] man [1492] know not how to [4291] rule his [2398] own [3624] house, [4459] how shall he take [1959] care of the [1577] church of [2316] God?)
3:6 Not a [3504] novice, [3361] lest being [5187] lifted up with [5187] pride he [1706] fall [1519] into the [2917] condemnation of the [1228] devil.
3:7 [1161] Moreover he [1163] must [2192] have a [2570] good [3141] report of them which are [1855] without; [3361] lest he fall [1519] into [3680] reproach and the [3803] snare of the [1228] devil.
3:8 [5615] Likewise must the [1249] deacons be [4586] grave, not [1351] doubletongued, not [4337] given to [4183] much [3631] wine, not [0146] greedy of filthy [0146] lucre;
3:9 [2192] Holding the [3466] mystery of the [4102] faith in a [2513] pure [4893] conscience.
3:10 And let [3778] these [2532] also [4412] first be [1381] proved; [1534] then let them use the [1247] office of a [1247] deacon, [5607] being found [0410] blameless.
3:11 [5615] Even so must their [1135] wives be [4586] grave, not [1228] slanderers, [3524] sober, [4103] faithful in [3956] all things.
3:12 Let the [1249] deacons be the [0435] husbands of [3391] one [1135] wife, [4291] ruling their [5043] children and their [2398] own [3624] houses [2573] well.
3:13 For they that have [1247] used the [1247] office of a [1247] deacon [2573] well [4046] purchase to [1438] themselves a [2570] good [0898] degree, and [4183] great [3954] boldness in the [4102] faith [3588] which is in [5547] Christ [2424] Jesus.
3:14 [5023] These things [1125] write I unto thee, [1679] hoping to [2064] come unto thee [5032] shortly:
3:15 But [1437] if I [1019] tarry long, that thou mayest [1492] know [4459] how thou [1163] oughtest to [0390] behave thyself in the [3624] house of [2316] God, [3748] which is the [1577] church of the [2198] living [2316] God, the [4769] pillar and [1477] ground of the [0225] truth.
3:16 And [3672] without [3672] controversy [3173] great is the [3466] mystery of [2150] godliness: [2316] God was [5319] manifest in the [4561] flesh, [1344] justified in the [4151] Spirit, [3700] seen of [0032] angels, [2784] preached unto the [1484] Gentiles, [4100] believed on in the [2889] world, [0353] received up [1722] into [1391] glory.
4:1 [1161] Now the [4151] Spirit [3004] speaketh [4490] expressly, that in the [5305] latter [2540] times [5100] some shall [0868] depart from the [4102] faith, giving [4337] heed to [4108] seducing [4151] spirits, and [1319] doctrines of [1140] devils;
4:2 [5573] Speaking [5573] lies in [5272] hypocrisy; having their [4893] conscience [2743] seared with a [2743] hot iron;
4:3 [2967] Forbidding to [1060] marry, and commanding to [0567] abstain from [1033] meats, [3739] which [2316] God hath [2936] created to be [3336] received with [2169] thanksgiving of them which [4103] believe and [1921] know the [0225] truth.
4:4 For [3956] every [2938] creature of [2316] God is [2570] good, and [3762] nothing to be [0579] refused, if it be [2983] received with [2169] thanksgiving:
4:5 For it is [0037] sanctified by the [3056] word of [2316] God and [1783] prayer.
4:6 If thou [5294] put the [0080] brethren in [5294] remembrance of [5023] these things, thou shalt be a [2570] good [1249] minister of [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ, [1789] nourished up in the [3056] words of [4102] faith and of [2570] good [1319] doctrine, [3739] whereunto thou hast [3877] attained.
4:7 But [3868] refuse [0952] profane and [1126] old [1126] wives' [3454] fables, and [1128] exercise [4572] thyself rather unto [2150] godliness.
4:8 For [4984] bodily [1129] exercise [2076] profiteth [3641] little: but [2150] godliness is [5624] profitable unto [3956] all things, [2192] having [1860] promise of the [2222] life that [3568] now is, and of that which is to [3195] come.
4:9 [3588] This is a [4103] faithful [3056] saying and [0514] worthy of [3956] all [0594] acceptation.
4:10 For [5124] therefore we [2532] both [2872] labour and suffer [3679] reproach, [3754] because we [1679] trust in the [2198] living [2316] God, [3739] who is the [4990] Saviour of [3956] all [0444] men, [3122] specially of those that [4103] believe.
4:11 [5023] These things command and [1321] teach.
4:12 Let [3367] no [3367] man [2706] despise thy [3503] youth; but be thou an [5179] example of the [4103] believers, in [3056] word, in [0391] conversation, in [0026] charity, in [4151] spirit, in [4102] faith, in [0047] purity.
4:13 [2193] Till I [2064] come, give [4337] attendance to [0320] reading, to [3874] exhortation, to [1319] doctrine.
4:14 [0272] Neglect not the [5486] gift that is in thee, [3739] which was [1325] given thee by [4394] prophecy, with the [1936] laying [1936] on of the [5495] hands of the [4244] presbytery.
4:15 [3191] Meditate upon [5023] these things; [2468] give thyself [1722] wholly to them; that thy [4297] profiting may [5318] appear to [3956] all.
4:16 Take [1907] heed unto [4572] thyself, and unto the [1319] doctrine; [1961] continue in them: for in [4160] doing [5124] this thou shalt [2532] both [4982] save [4572] thyself, and them that [0191] hear thee.
5:1 [1969] Rebuke not an [4245] elder, but [3870] intreat him as a [3962] father; and the [3501] younger men as [0080] brethren;
5:2 The [4245] elder women as [3384] mothers; the [3501] younger as [0079] sisters, with [3956] all [0047] purity.
5:3 [5091] Honour [5503] widows that are [5503] widows [3689] indeed.
5:4 But [1487] if [5100] any [5503] widow [2192] have [5043] children [2228] or [1549] nephews, let them [3129] learn [4412] first to [2151] shew [2151] piety at [2398] home, and to [0287] requite their [4269] parents: for that is [2570] good and [0587] acceptable [1799] before [2316] God.
5:5 [1161] Now she that is a [5503] widow [3689] indeed, and [3443] desolate, [1679] trusteth in [2316] God, and [4357] continueth in [1162] supplications and [4335] prayers [3571] night and [2250] day.
5:6 But she that [2198] liveth in [4684] pleasure is [2348] dead while she [2198] liveth.
5:7 And [5023] these things give in [3853] charge, that they may be [0423] blameless.
5:8 But [1487] if [5100] any [4306] provide not for his [2398] own, and [3122] specially for [3588] those of his [2398] own [3609] house, he hath [0720] denied the [4102] faith, and is [5501] worse than an [0571] infidel.
5:9 Let not a [5503] widow be [2639] taken into the [2639] number [1640] under [1835] threescore [2094] years old, having [1096] been the [1135] wife of [1520] one [0435] man.
5:10 [3140] Well [3140] reported of for [2570] good [2041] works; [1487] if she have [5044] brought up [5044] children, [1487] if she have [3580] lodged [3580] strangers, [1487] if she have [3538] washed the [0040] saints' [4228] feet, [1487] if she have [1884] relieved the [2346] afflicted, [1487] if she have diligently [1872] followed [3956] every [0018] good [2041] work.
5:11 But the [3501] younger [5503] widows [3868] refuse: for [3752] when they have [2691] begun to [2691] wax [2691] wanton [2691] against [5547] Christ, they [2309] will [1060] marry;
5:12 [2192] Having [2917] damnation, [3754] because they have [0114] cast [0114] off their [4413] first [4102] faith.
5:13 And [0260] withal they [3129] learn to be [0692] idle, [4022] wandering [4022] about from [3614] house to [3614] house; and not [3440] only [0692] idle, but [5397] tattlers [2532] also and [4021] busybodies, [2980] speaking things [3588] which they [1163] ought not.
5:14 I [1014] will [3767] therefore that the [3501] younger women [1060] marry, [5041] bear [5041] children, [3616] guide the [3616] house, [1325] give [3361] none [0874] occasion to the [0480] adversary to speak [3059] reproachfully.
5:15 For [5100] some are [2235] already [1624] turned [1624] aside [3694] after [4567] Satan.
5:16 [1487] If [1536] any man [2228] or woman that [4103] believeth [2192] have [5503] widows, let them [1884] relieve them, and let not the [1577] church be [0916] charged; that it may [1884] relieve them that are [5503] widows [3689] indeed.
5:17 Let the [4245] elders that [4291] rule [2573] well be [0515] counted [0515] worthy of [1362] double [5092] honour, [3122] especially they who [2872] labour in the [3056] word and [1319] doctrine.
5:18 For the [1124] scripture [3004] saith, Thou shalt not [5392] muzzle the [1016] ox that [0248] treadeth out the corn. And, The [2040] labourer is [0514] worthy of his [3408] reward.
5:19 [2596] Against an [4245] elder [3858] receive not an [2724] accusation, but [1909] before [1417] two [2228] or [5140] three [3144] witnesses.
5:20 Them that [0264] sin [1651] rebuke [1799] before [3956] all, that [3062] others [2532] also may [5401] fear.
5:21 I [1263] charge thee [1799] before [2316] God, and the [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ, and the [1588] elect [0032] angels, that thou [5442] observe [5023] these things [5565] without [4299] preferring one [4299] before [4299] another, [4160] doing [3367] nothing by [4346] partiality.
5:22 [2007] Lay [5495] hands [5030] suddenly [2007] on [3367] no [3367] man, [3366] neither be [2841] partaker of [0245] other men's [0266] sins: [5083] keep [4572] thyself [0053] pure.
5:23 [5202] Drink [3371] no [3371] longer [5202] water, but [5530] use a [3641] little [3631] wine for thy [4751] stomach's sake and [4675] thine [4437] often [0769] infirmities.
5:24 [5100] Some men's [0266] sins are [4271] open [4271] beforehand, [4254] going [4254] before to [2920] judgment; and [5100] some [0444] men they [1872] follow [1872] after.
5:25 [5615] Likewise [2532] also the [2570] good [2041] works of some are [4271] manifest [4271] beforehand; and they that are [0247] otherwise [1410] cannot be [2928] hid.
6:1 Let as [3745] many [1401] servants as are [5259] under the [2218] yoke [2233] count their [2398] own [1203] masters [0514] worthy of [3956] all [5092] honour, that the [3686] name of [2316] God and his [1319] doctrine be not [0987] blasphemed.
6:2 And they that [2192] have [4103] believing [1203] masters, let them not [2706] despise them, [3754] because they are [0080] brethren; but [3123] rather [1398] do them [1398] service, [3754] because they are [4103] faithful and [0027] beloved, [0482] partakers of the [2108] benefit. [5023] These things [1321] teach and [3870] exhort.
6:3 [1487] If [1536] any man [2085] teach [2085] otherwise, and [4334] consent not to [5198] wholesome [3056] words, even the words of our [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ, and to the [1319] doctrine which is [2596] according to [2150] godliness;
6:4 He is [5187] proud, [1987] knowing [3367] nothing, but [3552] doting [4012] about [2214] questions and [3055] strifes of [3055] words, [3739] whereof [1096] cometh [5355] envy, [2054] strife, [0988] railings, [4190] evil [5283] surmisings,
6:5 [3859] Perverse [3859] disputings of [0444] men of [1311] corrupt [3563] minds, and [0650] destitute of the [0225] truth, [3543] supposing that [4200] gain is [2150] godliness: from [5108] such [0868] withdraw thyself.
6:6 But [2150] godliness with [0841] contentment is [3173] great [4200] gain.
6:7 For we [1533] brought [3762] nothing [1519] into [3588] this [2889] world, and it is [1212] certain we [1410] can [1627] carry [5100] nothing out.
6:8 And [2192] having [1305] food and [4629] raiment let us be [5125] therewith [0714] content.
6:9 But they that [1014] will be [4147] rich fall [1519] into [3986] temptation and a [3803] snare, and [1519] into [4183] many [0453] foolish and [0983] hurtful [1939] lusts, [3748] which [1036] drown [0444] men in [3639] destruction and [0684] perdition.
6:10 For the [5365] love of [5365] money is the [4491] root of [3956] all [2556] evil: [3739] which while [5100] some [3713] coveted after, they have [0635] erred from the [4102] faith, and [4044] pierced [1438] themselves [4044] through with [4183] many [3601] sorrows.
6:11 But thou, O [0444] man of [2316] God, [5343] flee [5023] these things; and [1377] follow after [1343] righteousness, [2150] godliness, [4102] faith, [0026] love, [5281] patience, [4236] meekness.
6:12 [0075] Fight the [2570] good [0073] fight of [4102] faith, [1949] lay [1949] hold [1949] on [0166] eternal [2222] life, [3739] whereunto thou art [2532] also [2564] called, and hast [3670] professed a [2570] good [3671] profession [1799] before [4183] many [3144] witnesses.
6:13 I give thee [3853] charge in the [1799] sight of [2316] God, [3588] who [2227] quickeneth [3956] all things, and before [5547] Christ [2424] Jesus, [3588] who [1909] before [4194] Pontius [4091] Pilate [3140] witnessed a [2570] good [3671] confession;
6:14 That thou [5083] keep [3588] this [1785] commandment [0784] without [0784] spot, [0423] unrebukeable, [3360] until the [2015] appearing of our [2962] Lord [2424] Jesus [5547] Christ:
6:15 [3739] Which in his [2540] times he shall [1166] shew, [3588] who is the [3107] blessed and [3441] only [1413] Potentate, the [0935] King of [0936] kings, and [2962] Lord of [2961] lords;
6:16 [3588] Who [3441] only [2192] hath [0110] immortality, [3611] dwelling in the [5457] light [3739] which [3762] no man can [0676] approach unto; [3739] whom [3762] no [0444] man hath [1492] seen, [3761] nor [1410] can [1492] see: to [3739] whom be [5092] honour and [2904] power [0166] everlasting. [0281] Amen.
6:17 [3853] Charge them that are [4145] rich in [3568] this [0165] world, that they be not [5309] highminded, [3366] nor [1679] trust in [0083] uncertain [4149] riches, but in the [2198] living [2316] God, [3588] who [3930] giveth us [4146] richly [3956] all things to [0619] enjoy;
6:18 That they [0014] do [0014] good, that they be [4147] rich in [2570] good [2041] works, [2130] ready to [2130] distribute, [2843] willing to [2843] communicate;
6:19 [0597] Laying up in [0597] store for [1438] themselves a [2570] good [2310] foundation [1519] against the [3195] time to [3195] come, that they may [1949] lay [1949] hold [1949] on [0166] eternal [2222] life.
6:20 O [5095] Timothy, [5442] keep that which is [3872] committed to thy trust, [1624] avoiding [0952] profane and [2757] vain [2757] babblings, and [0477] oppositions of [1108] science [5581] falsely so [5581] called:
6:21 [3739] Which [5100] some [1861] professing have [0795] erred [4012] concerning the [4102] faith. [5485] Grace be with thee. [0281] Amen.
