Francis Schaeffer is one of my all time favorite authors, and I recommend all of his books, especially to Christians and Non-Christians who are interesting Western Philosophy. (His wife Edith has some good books too.)

I just completed Genesis in Space and Time (PDF) by Francis Schaeffer. In this layman book, Francis Schaeffer writes a commentary on the Primeval History (Genesis 1-11) that defends a historical (non-spiritualized) interpretation of the text. The book is short, 163 pages with wide margins and blank pages. It could easily be read in one sitting.

I believe this book would benefits Christians the most, especially those who are struggling with secular voices that have declared Genesis as Jewish folklore and myth. I think Non-Christians who haven't studied Genesis would enjoy this book, because it shows that there are compelling reasons to read the Primeval History as historical. I believe most people have dismissed Genesis as poetry, exaggerations, or metaphors simply because academia isn't interested in any truth that is derived from the bible, not because Genesis is inaccurate.

I highly recommend this book, but there books that address these topics in much deeper detail that would be better for people engaged in deep apologetics, but for personal encouragement about the bible, I highly recommend blitzing through this short book as I have!
